The Carlyle Group bought out the Loews Theater Chain in June.

Quote:
In "Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore fingers Washington, D.C.-based private investment firm the Carlyle Group for war profiteering. The same Carlyle Group is now a co-owner of the Loews Theater chain which, as of Friday, will devote 59 of its screens to Moore's controversial documentary.

Now, that's what I call diversification of investments!

Smiley: laugh I saw the movie, one thing they emphasized was the conflict of interest with Bush and all of his associates. I can't see why it would matter here, since they're all about making money, according to the movie that is. Not saying I agree or disagree, just sayin'

I saw it at Loews theater Saturday, and it started 20 minutes late due to ads. Not just previews, but ads for things like Coke and Aqua Velva.

If this upsets you too, visit this site:

and support the class action lawsuit against movie theaters who fail to start movies at the advertised showtime.

The pervasiveness of commercial advertisements is starting to get to me as well. We pay this site a premium, so that we can be free of ads, don't we do the same with movie theaters?

Ticket prices are ridiculous, and I have to get there early to sit next to some morbidly obese individual who's eating a 6 course nacho, popcorn, hotdog dinner and a bunch of screaming kids. I must admit I start to twitch when 20 minutes after the start time, I'm watching Nissan commercials.

I almost vomitted when I went to the Cheesecake Factory and they had ads on every other menu page.

Anyways, to keep in topic I think Michael Moore is a douchebag who is profiting imensely off the very things he opposes. This story only makes the irony that much clearer.
