I forgot about Tool's cover of the Kyuss song "Demon Cleaner"

I still prefer the original though, Kyuss rocks.

Megadeath cant hold a flame to Metallica and Mustaine is a whiny *****.

I completely disagree, on both counts, but to each his/her own.

Metallica's whole Garage inc. album was great especially the cover of Astronomy originnlly by Blue Oyster Cult.

As much as I loathe everything Metallica since Load, I DO think Garage Inc. is a really good album. "Whiskey in the Jar" is my personal favorite.

And, to answer the OP, my favorite cover song?

"The Zoo"- Bruce ********** Totally pwns the crappy Scorpions version.

EDIT: Apparently, filters exist that won't let me say "Bruce D*ickinson".

If you went by opinion, then yeah, but by numbers Metallica dominates.

Haggan says that all Metallica material before Load was influenced by Mustaine and Megadeath, but that is complete *********

I enjoy Megadeath, but to say that they are as good as Metllica is ludicrous.

And yes Mustaine is a whiney ***** because he is angry that he got booted for demanding more respect as a writer and lead singer. Obviously the band is doing quite well without him and he is still pretty damn famous, but he still thinks he could have done better.

I don't go by numbers. I go by what I like to listen to.

I don't have an opinion on that either way. How many albums did Mustaine appear on? One, maybe two? "Kill 'em All" and "Ride The Lightning"? Forgive me, it's been awhile.

So, it's ludicrous if I like a particular band more than you do? It's ludicrous if I don't worship the band you apparently fawn over? Please.

Whiny *****? Sounds a lot like Lars Ulrich.

IIRC Dave didn't play on any of the Metallica albums. They booted him just before going into the studio to record Kill 'Em All. Although he was a big influence on their style at that time. I think that is why there is such a big difference between the feel of Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, Dave's vs. Kirk's influence.

The Cranberries "Go Your Own Way": Fleetwood Mac
Concrete Blonde "Mandocello": Cheap Trick
Concrete Blonde "Little Wing": Jimi Hendrix
Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies "Nobody Does it Better": Carly Simon
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Love Rollercoaster": Ohio Players
Siouxsie and the Banshees "This Wheel's on Fire": Bob Dylan

Forgot to mention a second nod to:
Cake "I Will Survive": Gloria Gaynor--first time I heard this cover I couldn't stop laughing. Not because it was bad, but because it was so unexpected.

Oh yea, forgot a few:
1000 **** DJ's - Supernaut (Black Sabbath Cover)
Bella Morte - My Heart Will Go On (Yes, the Celine Dion song)
God Lives Underwater - Fly On The Windscreen (Depeche Mode cover)
Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide
Shinedown - Simple Man
Tori Amos - Raining Blood
(and i hate to admit this one) Limp Bizkit/Staind - Bring the Noize
Guns N' Roses - Since I Don't Have You
Danzig - Trouble (even though I *HATE* Elvis)

And on the Metallica issue, here is my stance: I have one major problem with the cd's made after the Black Album.... they were on different discs. They have come up with enough good material since Load to make 1 (one) good cd. That's it. I'm not counting S&M cause that was cool.. and St. Anger just sucks. And the Die, Die My Darling cover was the best job of ruining a damn good song I have ever seen.

It's on the Depeche Mode Tribute cd, I think it's called Music for the Masses.

Oh yea, and Trent Reznor originally did the 1000 **** Dj's Song. :)

Ok the story as I know it:

Trent originally did the vocals for the song, but with his trouble's with TVT records, they asked Al Jourgensen to redo the vocals. All Al did was fuzzy up the vocals some to make it sound deeper and more like his voice, cause he really didn't feel like messing with Trent's work. He submitted it back to TVT and they released it.

Edit: Reader's Digest condensed version.

Weird stuff. One more question. The cd I have is on the Wax Trax! label, does TVT own them? Thanks for the info though; you learn something new everyday.

Gotta say, Foo Fighters version of Have A Cigar does top a lot of covers, but heres some more i like:

Whiskey In A Jar by Metallica

Tetris theme by Reel Big Fish :D

Barbie Girl by Home Grown, cos the original SUCKED!

Weird Al Yanchovic has some good parodies too, but they are only good once, theyre just boring the second time and in my household, the third time, and the fourth...fifth...sixth ~_~

I saw a punk-ish band called Relient K do a cover of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" that I really liked. It was really funny. :-P
