Im not a fan of anime, but ive recently become hooked on Japanese anime series like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and currently Kenshin.

It usually takes me a couple of months to get through a series but i find they are like watching one of the old role playing games in cartoon form. I dont know, but im hooked.

Anyways im almost done Kenshin and i was wondering what i should try out next if anyone has some suggestions.

**** Edit
Warmaverick- Bebop is classic and the music is amazing. Thats the first anime series i went through.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rahxephon, Cowboy Bebop, and X are my favorites.

Also Excel Saga, but that's a little harder to get into for non-otaku.

Well... that depends on if you have any money or are looking to just catch things on TV.

For TV!

Cartoon Network -
InuYasha
FLCL
.Hack
Gundam Seed
Rave Master

G4-TechTV
Last Exile
Lain
and some other ones that kinda sucked...

International Channel
Used to play uncut DBZ & El Hazard, though I don't even know now...

For good ones to watch for someone with funds!

Outlaw Star (falls into the bounty hunters / space cowboy genre)
Samurai Deeper Kyo (can't go wrong with samurai anime really)
FLCL (sure its on CN, but everyone needs to buy it!)
.Hack//dusk (not as moody as //sign, and it really grows on you)
Riding Bean / Gunsmith Cats (good gunplay / comedy / action)

RPG types!

.hack (story line coincides with the manga & RPGs)
Arc the Lad (actually, this is based on an RPG...)
Sorceress Stabber Orphen (a bad PS2 RPG, decent anime)
Final Fantasy (theres a newer one and older one, take your pick)
Magic Knight Rayearth (also based on an RPG, and good stuff)

Essentials!

Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Ninja Scroll
Gundam (just pick one, giant robots are great)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
FLCL (again, everyone must at least see it)
Princess Mononoke (or anything by Miyazaki(sp?))

I'm sure I forgot some good ones, but these will do for now ^_^
< GO WATCH FLCL! >

Cowboy Bebop actually is better the second and third time watching it, as there are so many inside references you don't get the first time, until you know the whole back story. Definitely the pinnacle of anime.

Again, another vote for Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop (My two favorites).

I've recently been watching "Wolf's Rain" on Adult Swim. From the creators of "Cowboy Bebop", wonderfully original story-line, pretty amazing animation, and music by Yoko Kanno (did Bebop music, so you know it's good). It's definitely worth checking out.

And yes, Furi Kuri (Or however you wanna spell it) is also a classic.

Witch Hunter Robin is also a good set to watch. Another vote from me for Cowboy Bebop.

Abenobashi Maho Shotengai (Magical Arcade Abenobashi) and Last Exile are two that I'm really enjoying as well.

I'm still watching Lain, I bought the box set this weekend. I like it so far.

I still can't bring myself to spend $200 on the Trigun box set though. I hear it's great, is there an alternative way to see this? I don't have cable so...

Hmmm tricky, they are cracking down on those in U.S. But i also think it depends on what your downloading and where your downloading it from.

If your downloading the newest pop song thats on top of charts off Kazaa then your gonna get busted. But if your downloading a obscure anime program off some little known P2P network its less.

Either way the risk is still there, Trigun was a good show. If your in a city you could always look around for small rental places or anime shops and such and see if there is place to rent it. You could also just save some money over a couple paychecks and pick it up on DVD. The choice is up to you.

Of course can't forget Vampire Hunter D...both of them...The first one is a little old as far as animation goes, but still good...I like them both.

Hellsing has to be one of my all time favorite anime series, along with Cowboy Bebop of course, which I still need to get but just don't have the money.

Final Fantasy Unlimited I quite enjoyed...a lot of people said that they didn't like it, but I thought it was great.

Wild Arms is a pretty good one too...not really action packed but it is quite funny...

By the way, does anyone know a good place to get anime at for a good price? There is plenty of anime that I want to get, I just don't know a good place to get them. Any help will be much appreciated...Thanks!

Whoo HOO!!! Robotech (Macross) Rocks. I have the entire series on DVD.
Recently I watch Dexters Laboratory and Powder Puff Girls. Sounds gay as hell but the shows are damn funny.
