Just to straighten out all these people posting saying that artist had "other" hits. let me break it down for ya on what a ONE HIT WONDER is. A one hit wonder is someone who makes music but only has ONE song that makes it to number one. Sure they can have other albums loaded with songs.... doesnt mean theyre one hit wonders. Thank you and good day.

Actually, ANY song that hits the Top 40 is a hit. A song does not have to be number one to then be considered a hit. So if an artist has 1 song that hits number 1, and another that peaks at 23, they're not a One Hit wonder. Just clearin that up for ya.

Blur has about 19 UK number 1 songs.
MC Hammer has more than one worldwide number one song.
Ricky Martain had more than one hit song.
Goldne Earing had two hit songs (Twilight Zone being the other one)
VAnnila Ice sadly had more than one hit song.

One hit wonders are bands that have one hit song and a terrible follow up that fails abysmally.

The Strawberry Alsrm Clock's "Insence and Pepperments" being the classic example.

Hey! I like Strawberry Alarm Clock - mostly because they have a few tracks on the soundtrack from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. I love that soundtrack. Smiley: grin

You know who wrote that, right? The screenplay, I mean.

They had a show on vh1 that used this strategy to determine who was a 1 hit wonder and Jimi Hendrix made the list because *technically* he only had 1 song in the top 40.

Of course I know who wrote Beyond the Valley of the Dolls! (for those of you who might be curious - Roger Ebert) This is also probably Russ Myer's tamest movie ever.
