I was just curious as a player who regularly plays Brd.

My question is this, would it be a better option to go with Mac+4 and refresh. or go with Mac+4 and the Occ. maximizes Magic accuracy +3%? The first option would be great for Brd and any mage job i tend to play. But the Second option seems really interesting, it is just I really dont know how effective it would be.

If anyone could please explain a little further as to how effective the second option is, or just give an opinion as to what they think is the better fit for Brd, would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how useful the occ. maximizes m.acc augment would be for BRD, as I never used the job for anything much harder than colibri meripos back in the day, and as such never had any problem with m.acc.

Regardless, I would choose the refresh option because you'll get more use out of it. If you have a lot of mage jobs leveled, it's an excellent idle piece for all of them, and the m.acc +4 can also be used in enfeebling/dark/divine magic macros.

I'd have a hard time justifying a Moonshade Earring purely for BRD (not that this is a make or break piece for any other job) because of how accurate our songs already are at this point. If someone forced me to make it into a BRD earring I'd have to go with MAcc/Refresh. You'll get a constant benefit from the refresh, whereas you'd only see the benefit from additional MAcc on rare occasions. This goes for inside and outside Abyssea.

If it's just for BRD then it's hard to go wrong with MACC/Refresh. I'd strongly recommend looking at your other jobs first, however it's not like redoing the fight is particularly difficult so why not.

I have the Occ. maximizes Magic accuracy +3% on my moonshade earring. I found it particularly useful when trying to proc grellow with threnody during the occasions that I had to sub brd and elemental seal wasn't up. All it did was essentially give the chance of proccing an "elemental seal" effect onto my threnody. In the long run though, I'd probably suggest getting a different augment for your earring.

Keep in mind that magic accuracy is a minimum of 5%. So for proc /brd, you have a minimum of at least 5% chance of landing the threnody regardless.

If you're at the lowest possible magic accuracy, that's increasing it from a 5% chance to a 7.7% chance with the moonshade earring (that is, a 3% chance of maxed magic accuracy when threnody would have failed 95% of the time, and a 95% chance to land with maxed magic accuracy, or 0.05 + (0.03x0.95x0.95) ). Helpful, no doubt, but not really much of a difference.
