It depends on what you want to do with BRD.
If you plan on getting merit parties on BRD at 75, like it or not, you will almost always be expected to pull, unless there is already another BRD/NIN in the party. Pulling isn't impossible /WHM, but /NIN makes it 100x easier, especially for birds that reflect elegy and lullaby.
/WHM is still good for non-merit endgame. Whenever I'm BRD in dynamis, I go /WHM to main heal my party.
/BLM is also good occasionaly for Elemental Seal.

I'm a little confused as to why BRD becomes the go-to job for pulling. It's honestly a big turn-off from me returning to play this job, which used to be my favorite. Why pick the job that is already running every which way on the battlefield juggling song buffs and add another duty onto their list instead of having a melee job with a simple ranged skill go pull?

This isn't a new concept or anything, you just sucked when you played. I started BRD as my first job(after getting WHM to 30) and pulled, and this was at least 3 years ago or more. Even with sh*t like support healing, support -naing, dispeling and 4 song rotations, there's still a @#%^load of time to pull every 15-30seconds, and just gets easier on Birds or mammool.
