Is there anyone here who can explain precisely how the potency of march is related to skill? I found an old thread on BG about new march tiers, but their numbers seemed to start at a fairly high skill+ (somewhere in the high 480s was the first tier of improvement if i recall). I'm more concerned with knowing if skill has any effect on march below that range.
I just dinged 72 a few days ago, and I was going back to make macros with all the new gear I have access to now. I wasn't sure if I should even bother making a skill-heavy macro for march before I can get into the 500+ range. It seems Minuet is capped out at a fairly low skill (AF1 hands and wind torque at 75), but I'm not so sure what to do about march.
My biggest concern (for now) is whether to trade off the singing time reduction from Yigit for the skill on Minstrel's. Any pointers/perspective will be appreciated.

Ah, good point. Pain in the ass, but a good point.
I'm still interested in the numbers to see if it's worth the trouble associated with using both.

Ironically, last night while waiting for Salvage to start, I did my maths to figure out which "tier" I'm currently at (I'm sitting at 505 total skill- 225(base wind)+225(base singing)+47(gear)+6(singing merit)+2(wind merit)).
The best reference chart can be found here on BlueGartr's Wiki. For those not feeling like following the link...
"Perfect" Skill gear for March is as follows:
- Chanter's Staff (4 Singing)
- Gjallarhorn (10 Wind, 10 Singing)
- Marduk's Tiara (7 Singing)
- Wind Torque (7 Wind)
- Musical Earring (5 Wind)
- Singing (or Wind) Earring (3 Singing or Wind)
- Minstrel's Coat (3 Wind)
- Choral Cuffs +1 (10 Singing)
- Nereid Ring (3 Wind)
- Nereid Ring (3 Wind)
- Astute Cape (5 Singing)
- Choral Cannions +1 (8 Wind)
- Oracle's Pigaches (5 Wind)
It also requires Singing and Wind skill to be merited, with at least* 5 upgrades in each (or some combination equating to 20 extra skill: 8/2, 6/4, 7/3).
Without merits and a Gjallarhorn, but with everything else, the max skill you can hit is 225+225+63, or 513 total skill, which will put you at 11.23% for Victory March.

*=The previously accepted "cap" for Victory March was at 553 total skill, or 11.82%. As far as I know, it is impossible to surpass 565 total skill at this time- Perfect gear +63, Gjallarhorn +20, Merits +32, +450 base skills.
