Song cancellelation?Follow

#1 Dec 19 2003 at 10:07 AM Rating: Decent
One newbie question...

I am soloing right now (levl 2).
I know I can cast 2 songs per group (up to 4 if group is split apart).
WHat if I cast a attack song against the monster(sleep or damage), will this cancel the other songs that are used for the melee players up front fighting?

2 songs for the Melee fighters
2 songs for the back group of Mages

?? Attack songs or debuff songs against monster?

Can anyone help me on this?

btw... does anyone know how to use the 2nd set of macros to assign Bard commands to? NOT THE CTRL or ALT 1st set of macros, but the second set of CTRL and ALT macros.
I have all my Mage spells on the 1st set of CTRL and ALT macros, I would like to use Bard commands for the second set of both CTRL and ALT macros .... Thanx again.... :)

you can have 2 buffs on a player and as you know 2 buffs on melees and 2 on mages.

On a monster you can actually have 3 songs to debuff them and they do not count against the songs on your allies.

so you could cast madigral+minuet on melees
mages ballad and the intelligence song (name escapes me) on mages
thats 4 songs right there
then you could debuff a mob with a threnody song (to lower resistance to a partiular element) a requiem song (damage over time song) and also an elegy, which comes at level 29 and is the song form of the spell "slow"

so, it's possible to have 7 active songs going.

In short, debuff songs on a a mob will not overwrite buff songs on allies.

I guess my Post to answer the same question on www.ffxionline.comwasn't good enough.

Anyway there are 10 sets of macros, Just press ALT or CTRL + UP or DOWN to change them.

Im just getting into this whole Bard thing (just hit level 7) and im loving it, but i need to know what im doing,

how can you just cast certain spells on the mages and spells on the melee's? cast them one at a time or can you cast one spell on certain people in your group, or just cast it on everyone in the party, and if so what commands should i use?

also i notice the instruments have certain effects on songs, so i take it i can keep all the instruments and make a macro which equips the required instrument before playing the song that needs it.

thanks!

When you get in the party you have to ask the melee and range to get some decent distance between them, then you run up past the melee, sing a couple songs, then run back to the range, sing a couple songs. Each instrument has a range that you can use to make sure you get the right songs on the right people. Harps have a little longer range than wind instruments. After a while you can just sort of judge the distances and do all sorts of random things. In a perfect situation with a lot of room I'd do something like this: run up and sing Madrigal and Minuet on the front lines, then run away to single out the tank and put two Minnes on him, then run back and put a ballad on the mages, then run to each side and boost mind and intelligence for each respective mage. Most of the time this isn't possible, but in theory you could have two different songs on each member of the party if the spacing was perfect. You can't really do this though, so two on the mages and two on the frontline is usually standard.

Yeah, this is correct. I have a +3 charisma horn, but from testing it seems like the +1 Minne/Minuet/whatever instruments help a lot more than the charisma bonus. I carry around all my instruments and the macros look something like this:

/equip range Gemshorn
/wait 2
/p Buffing something.
/ma "Knight's Minne" <me>

Thanks for that. i've been testing out myself to see how things work, it seems like a nice job to be and busy busy busy, just hope i can get practice while in partys without people getting pissed off at me.
