Any suggestions on axes/gear for a suddenly 83 bst?Follow

In the meantime, you can snag a Glyph Axe from Bakka. And then keep plucking away at Pet: PDT magian axes, etc. after that. :)

Chinaman; since I've duoed SMN + BST with a friend of mine, I have had DG for quite some time. (Just so you guys know; if you're lowmanning, DG is as good for a SMN as it is for a bst; just smn be careful if you use it and make sure you got a duo partner because it can mess up kiting; avatar moving slow can stink in that situation) Also pearle may be OKAY but I'd rather be in AF3+1 ASAP.

And I'll do that fal ^^ Might ask around for help to kill it since I DO have summoner available to help.

granted I'm no mathy gear expert, but my impression is some of the perle is better than +1 at least in some ways/for some sets. I mean, it seems like gospel that 25% gear haste is really something to shoot for in terms of maxing out your DD output, and that simply isn't achevable with AF3 +1/+2 as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong!)

There is a reason I was wearing perle gloves till just the other day, and it wasn't because I thought they made me look elite (and the AF3 +1 hands were one of the first peices of BST AF3 I got).

I really wish there wasn't such a stigma on the abyssea gear sets because it seems to lead to people actually wearing worse gear overall in the short term (not saying this applies to the OP) - Like I can remember a member of my LS saying something to the effect that they _could_ get 25% haste with their NIN TP set if they wore some of the pink gear, but they chose looks over actual good gear choices.

I mean it is totally possible that I should have been wearing my Af3 hands in my TP set all this time rather than shooting for full haste/as close to it as possible, I'll fully admit I am no math whiz and I heavily rely on stuff I read on forums to give me an idea of what gear makes the most sense for my jobs.

Anyway... um not sure about the rant, I guess I'm just tired of the hate on for the perle and pink. Are they used by lazy players who don't care about their jobs? Sure! Are perle/pink immeasurably better than what the average scrub would have been wearing before Abyssea? Yes. You bet.

Are they the best some players have access to? Yes.

So why the huge stigma for players wearing them?

As far as the ferine set is concerned, hands/feet are WS pieces
legs/head/body good for TP
Its not hard to cap master haste w/out using feet slot though. in that case the feet are really good for tp also. Twilight belt, brego gloves and 4/5 ferine +2 makes for a solid tp set.

Also, and FYI, if you are not buffed by support players (which is almost always on bst) there are better things that Capped gear haste. (thoughthey are typically not so easy to get)
Toci's + ocelomeh are an example.

I have a twilight belt, thanks for the tips guys! I'll try to get my paws on some brego gloves next. I have a agasaya's collar that I can use from THF until I can figure out a better neck. I'm also trying to brush up on my Reward set; right now it's mostly AF but I'm sure there's some newer gear I can fix that with. Maybe I should check in my shells to do some limbus and +1 that gear. :) I also got a demonry ring and a epona's ring from thf that BST is just waiting to grow into..

If you wanna know; I do plan on +2ing that af, just right now, figured get the +1 and then go from there. One step at a time. Can't expect to climb a mountain in one day. That's why I am not going any further until I +1; I can +2 a little slower.

Also Toci's is a dream for me atm. My VW luck, especially on bodies, SUCKS. Never seen one. I'm lucky to have the bits of VW gear I got (all accessories.)

Also keep it coming guys; if anyone has any suggestions for this on the attainable (Step away from VW for a bit b/c of my bad luck), feel free to say something.

Ok, finished +1 bod (the next goal is to +2 the full set, that may take some time/farming pops/asking friends) and also finally writing ws macros. Got 99 bst today also. ^^ I also unlocked Ruinator (tho not going to max it until I can use it; need to make me some slugs and go skill axe) and am working on merits.

Are there any pieces that would help Ruinator/Rampage? I dragged out my cuchulian's belt from thf for that, but I'm trying to figure out what would pack the most oomph that I might have to buy. (I tend to keep things as simple as I can, tho I don't always succeed.)

after the elemental belt/gorget, you'll want to stack as much strength and attack as you can. Especially strength as you get 100% str bonus when fully upgraded.

I rarely use rampage anymore. Only in abyssea when I 'm using full crit+ atma.

It's more than 10% for Monster Gaiters. The regular dynamis drop gives +20% alone

For reward, I use Ogre Gloves, Monster Gaiters +2, and Ferine Earring. This combo gives +42% to reward, which I find sufficient. You can overkill it with Zoral Ja's axe, but it's not necessary IMO (although you were looking for axe suggestions, and this would be money well spent). I think reward caps at 50% anyway. MND stat gives a bonus to reward as well, so if you have the space, you can add in some items like Kirin's Osode, or twilight helm/mail to boost it.

I have Twilight Belt, Ferine pants +2, ferine hat +2 for haste (+20) which is enough. Brego gloves would be a nice bonus for the extra +4% haste, but I just use my ferine hands +2. My pet does most of the work anyway. For WS, I macro in a spiral ring, warwolf belt (both pretty cheap STR pieces) as well as Mekira-oto.

I really like the relic +2 items as well. I have gloves, feet, and pants upgraded to boost reward and shorten reward recast, plus ensure my pet is level 99. IMO, they are must have if you plan on soloing the tougher NM's (unless you like burning through food and jugs).

-PDT items are really the best things you can get for your pet. Pet haste is nice too. So start working on those trial Axes, and get started on MKD side missions to get your Anwig Salade.

For what it's worth, here's my gear (not optimized by any means, but it works well, and I feel that I'm geared above average compared to other BST's I see)

Astolfo -PDT (2) used in all sets
TP gear - Ferine +2 set, Brutal earring, Suppanonimi, Epona's ring, Rajas ring, Atheling mantle, Twilight Belt, Asagaya's Collar. (I was wrong above, this setup actually gets +23% haste- I forgot the Ferine body piece gives some haste. Since cap is 25% this is pretty decent)
WS swaps - Mekira-oto, Kirin's Osode, Spiral Ring, Warwolf Belt, Monster Trousers +2 (I think I get around +63 STR for this setup for Ruinator, which I have 5/5 merits on) If you plan to use Rampage, forget the STR gear and go for accuracy and Critical hit % gear.
Pet Buff Gear - Anwig Salade (-10PDT, +5 Pet haste), Mirke Wardecors (+10pet Att/RA, +2 crit, +2 DA), Ferine Necklace, Ferine Mantle, Moepapa Stone
Reward (mentioned above) - Monster Gaiters +2 (30%), Ogre Gloves (10%), Ferine Earring (2%)
I also have Monster Gloves +2 which I swap in when using call beast.

BTW, I was lucky and got twilight helm/mail recently. Helm I know is good in the reward set; body, not sure what else, but helm and body will be good for a regen/oh shii set.

Just asking, unless I can get a toci's (not likely for a while) would twilight bod be good for ws's too? Or is there another use I haven't thought of?
