Sheep Immune to Doom?Follow

Hey guys,

Was playing around in Abyssea - Vunkerl vs. Khalkotaur a few times this week and noticed that NN would get hit with Apocalyptic Ray and receive the "is doomed" log message but never die. Think this belongs under the "working as intended" as under the same grounds as the slug or glitched out?

For some other information:
"is doomed" would stay on without death until being reapplied again and still not kill the pet
Atma used: Future Fab, Mounted Champ, Ducal Guard
Equipment: Standard pet -phys stuff + Aymur (tested without Aymur and found the same effect as well)

Thoughts?

I think that pet status resistances are just higher, like a mob of the same level. Also, your sheep is higher level than Khalkataur.

I did the same thing w/ Gerard the other day. He did doom and pet never died. I completely ripped that NM up very easily, solo. I was quite pleased. I thought doom might destroy me, but it was easy to stun and the 1 time I wasn't ready for it, death didn't proc.

I'm very sure that sheep is not immune to doom. (too many fights w/ bukhis and xilbalba).

You were using Run Wild weren't you? It puts a 5 minute doom timer on your pet, so it can't be doomed by something else, just like the enemy's poison won't overwrite poison potion.

Mellowy is awesome, now.

This is false. I've had pet die by doom while run wild was active.

Na, nothing to do with Run Wild. And also from personal experience I've yet to see Run Wild increase resistance to any "effect".

I think Xilk's idea that it has to do with the pet's natural resistances is probably correct if it's an intended effect. Still seems odd even if that is the case as one would think that if they resisted the "ray" effect it wouldn't read "is doomed" in the chat log, but instead would read "...has no effect".

On an off topic note, has anyone done any recent testing with Pet Poultice?

I tested pet poultice about 4~5 months ago. the wiki is about correct. I don't remember my results exactly. I remember being underwhelmed. I still have more than 1/2 a stack. so if you can think of a good test, I can try it out.

Also I think the improved resistances I seem to be seeing on pets is mostly due to level increase.

I had a similar experience in WoE. Slug was "doomed" dozens of times by fatal scream yet never actually died. No run wild used.

Pet Testing- using kParser

Mob Used: Mostly DC-EM Aestutaurs, but theres a few Buhkis and Khalkotaurs as well. Eye balling it, Apocalyptic Rays did not have a higher chance of actually killing the pet than the Aestutaur's Mortal Rays
Test 1-
Pet: LuckyLulush
Atmas: None
# of Mortal Rays- 100
# of times pet died- 45
Death%: 45%

Test 2-
Pet: LuckyLulush
Atmas: Cloak and Dagger + nothing
# of Mortal Rays- 100
# of times pet died- 37
Death%: 37%

Test 3-
Pet: LuckyLulush
Atmas: Savior + nothing
# of Mortal Rays- 100
# of time pet died- 34
Death%: 34%

Test 4-
Pet: LuckyLulush
Atmas: Savior + Cloak and Dagger + nothing
# of Mortal Rays- 100
# of times pet died- 29
Death%: 29%

Without doing a FIT test, it appears that both "Resist Death+" and "Resist all Status Effects+" both affect if Doom will actually kill you or not.
An interseting thing to note, "Doom" landed nearly all the time. It was the Death it causes that was actually resisted.

thats a really great test. 2 things that could be added to it:
Atma of the Einherjar and pet level. (level would be very tedious to check)

Also, one coudl compare different jugs with the same setup.
