I love playing ranger to begin with, and the + of widescan to find those hidden mobs, and stoneskin, blink, reraise from /whm make this pretty doable. I know I can make more xp/an on my rdm or sam, but I just love RNG. I'm sure some other combos might be fun too, but I love having the reraise since I often end up fighting with a rdm or pld that pulled a mob to the middle of nowhere

I've been using this combo for awhile now but would love some ideas and equipment changes to maximize my XP/AN intake and find more ways of survivability.

I generally try to take some decent damage at times so I can cure myself, but I don't try to solo or anything.

Here's some of my gear sets/swaps. I'd love to hear improvements thanks.

General TP:

-mercurial kris, (I swap in blau or Kriegsbeil if I need to lay off giving the mob tp for a bit) 30
-lvl 30 all job shield
-O bow or hellfire +1 if TONS of people all on one mob.
-lots of status bolts (the status effects count as + to our xp/an gain right???? right??? DS for slugshot - silver bullets for gun. And I'll be picking up one of the CP quivers asap.

Man I don't have much time so I'll just write a few notable equips and comeback later with more if needed.

-Bull's neck-piece for Slug
-haste + for fast tp
-Vermy cloak for refresh , I'll be getting the new refresh neck piece soon, DO THESE STACK? that would be sweet!
- earth staff and tracker's earring for those oh crap moments. Any more nice -dmg pieces?

- also str, Rattck, and some AGI + for Slug as well.

Remember don't let your tank trick you into stealing hate while they run off. I'll cure em sometimes and they get less grumpy I found em.

GL! and Thanks!

It's *cough* Campaign *cough*. Wear whatever you want.

The key to campaign is to deal damage, take damage and fix damage. /WHM and /DNC make good subs in that respect. Getting the refresh and regain items are huge bonuses to both those subs. After that, I'd suggest limiting your cost as no one cares how little or how much damage you do and you can cap out your dmg pretty easily with low cost ammo.

I typically campaign on RNG as /WHM with light staff and holy bolts. But having an M Kris is superior in cost department as you will just be shooting for WS's. Might want to look at a Trueflight build if you want to really save on ammo costs since it ignores bow and bolt damage and is based more on AGI I believe. In that case crosbow bolts and croc collar would be good items.

If you are using M Kris try to get a decent ACC/haste/store TP build for TP. Cobra unit gear, swift belt, W turban, woodsman/snipers/rajas, dusk gloves are all good pieces if you are meleeing for TP.

Cobra Unit gear also has enmity down stats which is nice if you pull hate.

This is a primary concern for me when doing rng in campaign or beseiged. I will use iron arrows to spam at mobs. Also, look into getting a frugal cape. Drops from a {too weak} warmachine in fort ghelsba on a 1 1/2 - 2 hour repop. Gives you additional recycle effect.

In that case you may be better off subbing RDM instead of WHM due to Trueflight being based off of Matck as well. Depends on how much you care about status effect removal.

True from a damage aspect. /WHM in campaign is as much about reraise as anything else. Since Windurst rarely owns any zones its tough to get the free re-raises from NPC's. And down time costs you more than the damage loss from no MAB.

But since I have yet to unlock Trueflight (100 WS points to go), I'm still using slug with holy bolts in campaign.

Only thing I worry about having as far as my /whm is enough +mp gear to cast reraise on myself when weak.

And you are right, having widescan to find that mob someone has pulled way off to a hidden corner holding everyone up and then shouting where said mob is warms my heart.

Do you tp at range? I typically carry enough melee gear to swing my 1 axe if I decide to save some bullets.

Usually at the start of a battle I'll go in with all my +MP gear on, cure bomb the tank till I'm almost out of mp then swap to melee gear and bang it out.

But again /whm is about the reraise more then anything else, you make more exp being alive and doing stuff then dead waiting for someone to raise you.

/sch will give you (half price) reraise, cheaper cures, usable drain and aspir, sublimation, and more. If you avoid situations that will get you killed without stoneskin, you should be able to do even better than /whm.

This also has me thinking... any idea if drain and/or bloody bolts give credit for damage cured?

True. It's just most people are more likely to have /WHM than /SCH unless they are a WHM to begin with. But /SCH would be useful too.
The stoneskin issue is kind of moot for RNG since we don't have any enhancing skill natively and our stoneskins will be worth half a hit from a campaign mob. Divine seal and Erase are bigger reasons to /WHM over /SCH.
