I like the guide, thank you for all the info, it helped a lot in the start.

Now comes my "but":

I can only tell up to lvl 30 but:
I think the gear section needs a serious update:
Body
Tunics are not good IMHO - prevents good headgear where you just get more from
Noct gear missing at 30

Head
use all with +AGI
so do not use a Lizard Helm, nor a Brass Mask or a Centurions Visor. If you do not have an Emporers Haipin, go for the Noct at 30

Earring
um - since i engage the mob with dual wielded axes / daggers at these lvls, and i think you keep doing this (i think), i recomend Beetle at 21. we are DDs, +ATT never hurts at these lvls

Hands
Again, stick with +ATT stuff, NN for just def gloves.
30: Noct

Ring
Don't know why these are missing but
29 Bowyers ring
30 Archer

Legs
30 Noct again, not Centurions

Feet
just stick with Leaping Boots or Winged boots if you have them, otherwise Noct at 30
If you have 12 million or so to spare (i do not):
20: Strider Boots (+12% movement speed), great for the pull.

Back
leave out the Lizard at 17, stick with eva

Ammo
Blood Bolts missing at 25. Even in party i always got some with me, because they are just great to get some HP back, especially with the healers a bit occupied with the tank. :-)

I hope i did cover everything. I guess the info up front is just a bit outdated. And of course this i just my opinion on the gear, and some costs a pretty penny.

Cheers
Gisselle

Yeah ranger rules. It's a fast, quick and hard hitting job class that represents much of modern warfare. They specialize in Ranged combat - shooting something from a distance and then moving in close with a light weapon like a hunting knife. Ranged attacks cause hard damage because I guess it reflects internal damage.

Ranger is good on its own, however, when you put a Ranger into a skillchain it is simply stunning. A Samurai and a Ranger together can cause epic, crushing damage to a foe with their skillchains. At high levels, try a skillchain like :

{Tachi: Yukikaze} ----> {Slug Shot} or {Sidewinder} =

SC [FRAGMENTATION]

Then have the Black Mage burst with BURST and you will totally obliterate foes, enabling you to take down an enemy who ordinarily would be too high for your level. The total damage for all this will easily average around 2000-2500.

I also like to think of this as the "USA job." If you look at the Great Seal of the United States (found on the back of a U.S. One dollar bill) you will see an Eagle with a laurel branch in one talon, a stack of arrows in the other. The Ranger Two Hour ultimate attack is also called "Eagle Eye Shot." Another interesting note: In Tolkien's universe, Strider was known as a "Ranger" of the wilderness. Ranger is also the only job that can be a gunslinger or use guns in battle. Keep in mind that bullets are rare and expensive things in this universe and require special crafting.

To get the job talk with the nature loving Mithra fem. Being a ranger seems to require an understanding of the land so it makes sense that you get it from a "mother nature" figure.

As others have mentioned, there is a conflict between the Head and Body slots for levels 10 and 15- Perhaps you mean the Royal Footman's Vest, not Tunic? you can't use headgear with the Tunic, you see... it's the vest that looks like Leather Armor.

ALOT of the gear progression is wrong. Just because a RNG can equip it doesn't mean they have to use it. War aketon over AF body and spectacles over peacock charm? This progression list needs to be editted since it is very inaccurate and half-assed (only because the gear is listed based on level rather than stats and the author didn't take the time to do it properly.

The list:

Hi all....glad to see this FAQ carry on with a life of its own with everyone each contributing to it. I'm actually quite shocked it's still here.

Kamena's taking a LOONG cat nap under the nearest cool shaded tree and so her arrows have been temporarily retired.

If you guys want to remove this FAQ and update a new one, I suggest checking in the main Allakhazam forum like I originally did and requesting that this sticky be removed and have another, more updated, thread put in its place. I can see a lot of changes have taken place since I've last shown up!

I miss all the Ranger banter!! I hope you're all still kicking **** as always. Bye!

I would level one of these to its cap then level the other(Iwould go with axe). When you charachter levels swith back to your main weapon choice and lvl to cap. Do this so you always have one strong skill but can lvl both.

Uhh, not ruin it for you, but for rng, taru do NOT excell in agl, I mean as to say they have the same agility as Mithra. And in other class Mithra have the higher agl. Just and fyi. I mean, everyone knows that, you can just check every single published or unpublished guide to this game. Silly taru^^

From lvl 16-30, I wore the rare/ex Trailer's Tunica dropped from the NM Maltha. Also, from 18-30 I wore the Power Sandals which give Vit+3 because I didn't have Leaping boots.

You need to add all the noct/noct +1 gear to your gear list as its probably the most common thing I see on RNGs from 30 until AF.

Awesome guide, I lived by it for a while on my Ranger. I know I'm about two years too late on this. But a lot has changed about Ranger. Melee isn't really practical anymore, since you have to get the right distance away for the "Sweet spot". There's lot of threads about that, so I won't go into detail, but I will say that if this is the only thread you read, do not use Meat Mithkabobs. They do next to nothing for Rangers anymore. They don't add to Ranged Attack. Stick with Sausage Rolls in the low end, if you can get to Bastok for Ranged attack, if you're having Accuracy problems, and you will until the 30s probably, go with Sushi. I went with Dhalmel pies from 25-55, but after getting Sidewinder, and Slugshot, you should really focus on accuracy. Squid Sushi is cheapish, and awesome for Rangers from 55 on.
