Legitimate eels, but did not manage to stay on topic.

I regret to say this, but I would not read it again.

Reviewing for calc 2 this semester and I came to this problem. The differentiation is easy...but I don't see how they managed to factor and simplify it. Sad that I can do the calc part, but not the algebra part.

They simply pulled an (s^2-1) out of the (s^2-1)^5/2.

Really...
(s^2-1)^5/2 = (s^2-1)(s^2-1)(s^2-1)^1/2

I don't really care if you were asking for help, I'm too much of a nerd to not skip a math problem.

I always forget if you're Oregon or Washington. Either way I'm down with putting that in the list so long as it meets my major criteria of "has all four seasons". Not just nut sweat summer and crap shoot winter.

Washington.

Ice storm last winter on top of a few inches of snow, like a slippery crust on unstable crushiness. Major cluster@#%^.

Then, last month, ~92F but the humidity stays mild, just sucks to be in an 80 year old house.

And when it comes to potential natural disaster, we don't f*ck around.

One of the biggest problems I have with FPSeseseses is that snipers are always vastly underpowered, to a ridiculous level from reality, through both range and stopping power. I'll try it out, and no doubt it'll be Zero, but just something that irks me about all of 'em.

I obviously can't comment on real world comparison, but it seems to me that sniper rifles were significantly underpowered in Borderlands 1 even compared to many other FPS games I've played. I'm probably just really bad at Borderlands, but I had to stop using them since they caused me more problems then any of the other weapon classes.

Snipers are the besssst. I have never played Borderlands. Seems kinda fun. If I was the kinda person who actually paid for games I might consider playing it.

I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas for the first time recently. This game is fun! I did not know this. Of course as I say this I'm anticipating a whole lot of, 'that game sux, is not fun', so I probably just ruined it for myself. ****.

Thing about sniper rifles in Borderlands is you wanted the one with a higher crit bonus, not necessarily the one with the higher damage. Also a magazine type.

Then whatever you wanted dead you just waited for a crit opportunity (headshot, mouthshot, whutev) and laid into it.

Problem is you could find revolvers with as much damage as a sniper that reloaded and fired 3x faster and had roughly the same (useful) accuracy with a scope on top, or a 'shotgun' type revolver that did obscene damage with the skill bonuses you could put on it and would one-shot practically anything.

my sniper hunter in B1 also benefitted greatly from making sure to use the right gun type against the right mob, crit hits + corrosive against the lance was devastating

You could get like, +800% crit dmg with the right gear in BLs on top of the +50-2900% dmg from depending on enemy. Just need to gear right. As Markus says, "A Sniper without a Sniper COM is just a guy with a gun."

I love NV! I'm actually playing it again atm with the Project Nevada (more FPSish) mod and a ton of add on weapons.

The problem is that since the individual shots are low powered, they don't do as well against armor. High dmg/low clip/scoped pestilent defiler was definitely the way to go with revolvers. Particularly with fast hands and gun crazy.

I like a lot of games, it's just rare as **** for you guys talk about them. Around here it's usually some crappy boring repetitive game with a nonexistent storyline like Borderlands or some such. The only things about Borderlands that's interesting is the art style and the huge variety in weapons. Yes, I rather enjoyed my time with New Vegas as well as Fallout 3. I've got all of the DLC for both of them. I almost never buy DLC, so that's saying something.

I just finished playing Darksiders II, which is a far better game than the original. Dungeon and puzzle design is incredibly well done, combat is much more fluid and varied, and the ability to customize your weapons to your likely via the Possessed Weapons system is a great addition. The story is a bit lacking and the ending is incredibly unsatisfying, but the game play more the makes up for it.
