unrelated to everything: all girl bands are awesome. even if they're kind of bad, they're still awesome. live, that is. these girls did a sweet cover of Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams'. oh that synth line.

Do you mean that bands who are filled entirely with females are awesome, or that all bands who are headlined by girls are awesome? Cuz I'm pretty sure I can make a case against both.

well, to be honest i vaguely remember getting the impression from some of the DRK club threads that you were one of those math averse players, so it's not too surprising you hadn't heard of me. it's also not surprising because i just posted on MNK SAM DRG WAR forums if i'm not mistaken... i can't remember if i moonlighted on DRK, and my output on bluegartr and killingifrit was tiny (was banned from killingifrit for trolling actually).

anyway though, the point is that people who read the forums i posted on knew who i was. i posted a lot, contributed a lot, and had a reputation (that varied from bad to good, ie "drunk" "snob" "mean" "helpful" "math" "parses really high" "cares too much about parses" etc). i'm not implying that this is anything i'm proud of or anything, it's just a fact about forum dynamics / personal history.

you post like "Well Everybody Knows I'm Turin And... [etc]," but i find it pretty hard to believe that everybody knows whatever it is you think everybody knows. maybe i just missed something, or you only posted on the DRK forum or something.

i mean, i wouldn't be posting "Everybody Knows I'm Pahn / Milich, And [etc]" in this thread unless it was to talk about craft beer, since i don't think i've posted significantly about anything else in like 3 years. maybe wittgenstein. i'd guess some people remember my ffxi math posts, but beyond that i don't see why my name wouldn't run together with like 50 other people you might remember posting about ffxi 5 years ago, unless you were like a gung ho monk.

p.s. xypin, i don't know who you are, either. but you don't post as if i would to begin with, so i don't think we can argue about it, at least not in the same way.

nil i remember as a wittle nublet on MNK forums. lolgaxe i remember from when he told me his character name and swore me to secrecy, and i mostly kept the promise. faramir i remember from i actually don't remember him pre-drk club. come to think of it, i don't remember much pre-drk club. i think i could name 5 mnk forum regulars... kinematics, norellicus, uhhh... jinte, realitybytes/starfox... who else from the post slyde, post that-guy-whose-name-i-forgot times... um... who was that guy whose name i forgot? i think he was elvaan.

i remember someone started taking over for me on either MNK or WAR forums posting math, and i pulled my posting way back because i was always mainly about posting ffxi math for noobs so they could make intelligent decisions about what to buy / shoot for and how to party w/o wasting ppl's time. bsphil i think it was. i remember him as a taru nublet, and then one day he was posting all this pdif bullsh*t and i was like "awesome, i don't have to do this now." i remember VZX still posted, and his old site is where i learned all the sh*t i posted for everyone else (plus in game testing, since i learn better hands on).

WAR posters... lolgaxe... nil eventually, right? bsphil... uhhhhh.

SAM posters, there was that kaj-something guy who changed his name. he had a big troll freakout on me when i shamed him about some math sh*t, then he became like pahn's#1 fan, and did that really borderline irritating white knight kind of behavior when people would question my math (which is funny since i of all people should have my math questioned, especially if you don't see "last edited @" at the bottom of my post, b/c that means i probably didn't proofread). that SAM/RNG guy, he had 2 names, darth something, and another name. wrote a good guide. then there was that guy who wrote a really good store TP tutorial.

DRG forum i don't remember anyone. bsphil again i guess.

so i'm not sure i could name 10 alla posters. there's people who still post in this thread i probably couldn't name. oh god, who was that really really really irritating taru youtube video idiot on the general forum? what was that moron's name? he was the worst. really upset about the "circle jerk clique" AKA anyone who had more than 200 posts and pointed out that he was a moron. what was his name? [checked my private messages. 'jtftaru' was his name. worst poster in alla history. note: victrola was the *best* poster in alla history, hands down. also remember a few other people; vegetto, chaosrook, uh.... ok those are the only ones since i saw their names in my messages somewhere. also mdenham, who i believe likes good beer]

oh and of course i remember turin.

That's the shortlist of people, in rough order of ire, who tend to earn instant red arrows in my book. ****, two of them are the reason I broke my year-plus 'never rated anybody down' streak. It's not because they're clinically retarded or ignorant, but mostly because every other post by them is whining, usually at and about people who call out their ********* One of them is a write-in, because he claimed to be dyslexic when later clearly not to get someone ostracized for picking on his spelling. All of them have the special capability to **** up a thread in such a way that any discussion just comes to a total halt while everyone has to beat the most basic concepts into them to establish why they're wrong.

The worst part is they'll each disappear for a month or two, then come back and start ******** something up again out of the blue. It's like they go hide in a corner until people forget the massive ********** they cause then come wandering back in when they have something to whine about again.

also I interacted with you once before drk club, something about pahn points. I posted and immediately lost pahn points. I still have a negative balance. :(

tbh DRK club has been going for yeaaaaaaars now though, if you count the previous iterations as well. Good ol' Sarah's club. Ah, memories.

manchester... which state? near manchester, CT, there's the half door in hartford. 2 hours away from manchester VT is waterbury VT, which has some of the best bars around (e.g. prohibition pig, which while not explicitly belgian would have some belgian beers, + amazing pale ales from hill farmstead, alchemist, lawson's finest). manchester NH... the only thing i know about NH is portsmouth brewery (a nationally renowned brewpub; they make "kate the great").

boston is loaded with excellent bars. the best place for beer is cambridge brewing company (they do several belgian styles, as well as american / british / other).
nearby lord hobo is also awesome.
the mead hall is supposed to be good (tons of taps, not always the same level of quality as lord hobo, publick house, deep ellum, etc)
deep ellum in allston is great (taco place next door is excellent too, and has same owners so good beer--but taco pairing oriented, so like smoked beers and wheat beers generally)
publick house in brookline has great food, smaller selection of beer but often finer beers
sunset in allston has tons of taps, better food than deep ellum, not as good beer usually and notoriously hit or miss service (i've sat there over an hour waiting for waitresses to return)
redbones occasionally has great beer on tap. very popular spot for a long time. i think the BBQ is wayyyy overrated (ate there in between bouts of vegetarian and found all the meat to be dry)
green street's a nice place.

boston's too big a beer city to have explicitly belgian beer bars, if that makes sense... you expect quality belgian beers to be available at lord hobo and the like, as well as the top IPAs and stouts and american wild ales and (etc), plus locals like pretty things. would be hard to charge the necessary premium for the better belgian imports and still get customers in boston.

in NYC there's burp castle, one of my favorite bars. small, bartender shooshes everyone if they get too loud, 80+% belgian beer. jimmy's next door is very good too.

I"m moving to Manchester NH, but I'm told Boston is only around an hourish drive, and I have friends at MIT, so I'll probably spend most of my drinking time there. Last time I was up there I must have hit 30 bars between Fenway and the North End and only found one I really liked (and not so much for beer selection as music and ambiance). I'll have to try those though next time I'm over there.

I had a dream involving Shinta last night. It was odd. I can't remember why but I got him to do some very important maths for me from abroad. Also he was a 60 year old, grey haired, balding man who ran a class at university on some form of advanced mathematics. Anyway, he was helping me out with this formula of his that calculated peoples emotional closeness and likelihood of being in a relationship ... using maths. It was pretty clever I must say. I can't really remember the rest because I'm posting this like 20 hours after it happened. Good god I want to sleep so hard.

for me it's drake's aroma coma. my review is disgustingly long, but i had a lot to say about the hop aroma of this beer. to a beer "novice" it probably tastes like "wow, that's great, all these different flavors and aromas, where are all these coming from??" to a beer aficionado (ie 1000s of beers tasted, 100s of IPAs at this point) or homebrewer, it's "holy ****, how did they keep all of those hop flavors/aromas in the finished product??? wow!"

still, bit boozy and i like my IPAs to have some pale malt to balance everything and remind me that i'm drinking beer, not hop juice. that said, excellent beer. if you're on the west coast (maybe just in cali), grab this beer since it just came out. this is what hopheads are talking about.

It's more like a bad case of fleas than an 'epicenter'. The ratio of cool people to hipsters is still easily 10:1.

The hipsters want you to know they're out here, leeching the inherent style and associations of being in Seattle, unlike our crazy underground Metal and staggering number of independent brewers.

If you wanna talk Hipster Epicenter, that'd be Portland btw. Nothing but flannel-shirted bearded douchebags who didn't know who Elliott Smith was til after he was dead and only now because of a movie they'll swear they haven't seen.

Hipsters are easy to spot around here, because they tend to be a f*cking disgrace. I've already given my rant on how cocked up everyone's idea of if it is and that it isn't the cool retro things that are hipster but instead the most uncool and unrefined things possible.

PBR, half-rusted and spray-painted fixed gear bikes, oversize flannel shirts, unmanaged beards, worthless tiny hats. Anything impractical, unrefined, used, or cheap. Hipster.

Good craft beer, cafe bikes, leather jackets, slicked hair, steampunk appeals, (retro in general), tabletop gaming, even vinyl records (dat bass response)... Not hipster. Those are all things of refined quality or classical style, which is entirely against the hipster way.

brooklyn is the hipster epicenter.

lolgaxe, were you passing on the beer, or passing on being on the west coast? i wasn't suggesting people go to the west coast...

re: northeast sucking, meh. everything sucks. i prefer NE to the rest of the country, though my experience with the NW is low to non-existent. norcal was alright, but it was mainly alright because i spent > 50% of my time there having ***.
