What do you guys think about this combo? I was told last night that it can be pretty useful if you stay in Light Arts. Helps knock down the MP cost of your Cures plus up's the potency of them. Not exactly sure on how a PLD can hold hate without provoke, but maybe the enhanced cures are enough?

I rank /sch as more my support subjob.

I really like the idea of /sch. The job comes with sublimation, light arts, stoneskin, and aquaveil. The stratagems are great too (fast cast stoneskin go!). You do gain -na spells though, which is huge in and of itself (but that's what remedy ointments are for...).

It sounds like a good sub until you compare to what you lose with /rdm. Primarily ice spikes, barspells, and eventually haste- key spells for soloing, though the barspells are less important if what you fight doesn't use magic spells/tp moves.

I found the overall benefits of sch to be more group oriented though. If I was asked to main heal on PLD, /sch would be my first choice. High mp efficiency combined with stoneskinga and a self-refresh puts it ahead of whm(barspells, haste) and rdm(mostly self-casting spells).

There's also /dnc, but since I don't like /dnc, I'll just skip that option.

If you're talking in a party situation on something that's actually strong, I go /sam or /nin. None of the /sch spells/abilities seem all that useful unless I don't have a healer.

I did thi Pld/sch when i leached my Pld 65-90.

Due to the higher level healing skill and the fact you could AOE cure spells, I was about to main heal my party as well as keep other parties up. I wouldn't tak in it. Subligation is completely useless. The draw it has is the AOE cures and AOE status removal for major hate if yoru taking hits.

I'd only really use it for an exp party myself. Then again if the update offers new mobs that AoE hit hard, pld/sch AoE cure may be nice to keep hate on.

good for healing as a leech in abyssea, or in situations where you might need extra heals as well as procs (GS for example). Just finished 61-86 as /SCH would do it again.

(cheers to not reading dates on threads.)

Unfortunately in a tanking situation /Sch wouldn't work all that well, not only because they'd be lacking the quick burst of enmity from Provoke, but also because at lv. 30, Scholar gets the Tranquil Heart job trait, which reduces the enmity generated from curing spells, which would make the boost from Light Arts as far as MP efficiency goes.

In a purely support role situation, it'd be a good sub for the cure efficiency, the ability to accession buffs (Pro, Shell, Phalanx, etc), and so forth.
