Was setting up a pld/war macro set the other day, and i realized i don't even know exactly what a pld/war idle build looks like.
I realize pld/war is outclassed more often then not but i figured i would make a macro set in case i ever needed it.
At the moment my idle set for /war would consists of
Joy/Koenig/Lamia
Head: Koenig
Neck: Shield Torque
Ears: Buckler/Ether
Rings : BQR/Patronus(or jelly)
Body: Ares
Back : Boxor's
Feet: AF+1
Legs: Homam
Hands: Homam
Waist: Swift
I tryed looking it up but everybodys set looks a little different, so i don't know whats ideal. Alot of people idle in enmity gear, and some idle in a set geared for pure DMG reduction and ditch stuff like swift belt and homam pants.

pld/warFollow
I only do Prudence /WAR, but my Idle is almost the exact same as yours.
I use a Terror Shield, but Koenig is great, and I use Jelly/BQR.
The only other build I'll use is swapping to Darksteel+1 body, Hands, and Legs, and Jelly/Patronus if for some reason my co-tank dies and I need to purely reduce my damage taken for a bit, or if I'm about to die, I stack all the Shield Skill and PDT I have available.

Not that I don't agree, I use my Lamia Kaman all the time, but if you're tanking something PLD/WAR, you're going to want to have to someone Stunning all those spells.
If you're facing an onslaught of spells from the mob that you're tanking, generally /RDM or /NIN would be preferred. /WAR only shines when you're facing something that attacks fast but doesn't hit extremely hard, and you can get your Defense and -PDT to the level that your damage taken is low enough to be worth bloodtanking.
The only thing I /WAR for (In endgame) is Jailer Of Prudence. If something is going to be casting a ton of spells on me, losing all that CE from getting blasted with Tier 3 and IV nukes isn't going to cut it.

I have to agree. At the same time, what is 3 vit and 10 hp really going to do for you? I know there is a veritable lack of good tank oriented ranged slot items for pld, but i cant help but think that an Arco De Velocidad should be tossed into the fray as well. Youre going to get more out of the daytime regen than 3 vit is truly going to help, and you still get the +10 hp, and for what its worth 1 str.

I would use an Arco De Velocidad on a lot of fights where I'm not concerned with my Magic Damage taken, but I just can't justify the price. Maybe if my RDM ever gets to the level that I feel I can solo it, I might try.

HP does something. The higher your HP, the less CE you lose per hit. Is it worth giving up an accuracy ring? In my opinion, no. But that doesn't mean it's not doing anything.

max hp lowers hate decay when you take damage i believe? correct me if that's wrong.
I suggest making a few different sets that you can swap into given the situation.
Shield skill / DD hybrid
Pure DD
Turtle
Semi turtle
Then there's all those other sets that you should have anyways like -MDT/MDB, Enmity, Flash, ect.
You can see my builds here if your interested. On PLD regardless of subjob I always have at least 6 macros per pallet of builds I can swap into not counting swaps tied to JAs, Flash, ect.

While a higher max hp might not mean anything when you aren't at full hp, it definitely helps when your healers overcure you. Most don't wait until you would only be missing 75 hp, and use a cure that will top you off. That makes it easier to keep up with any more incoming damage, giving them time to react.
Is hp gear better than other gear? Often, no. But it isn't useless when bloodtanking.

You have VE, and CE, VE is always decaying at a rate of 60 units per second, there is nothing that stops that on PLD. CE on the other hand does not decay, it will either rise with actions or drop when you take damage. How much CE you lose is dependent on the amount of damage you took and you max HP you had when you got hit.
1800x(damage taken)/maxHP = CE loss iirc
