You know you've been a pld too long when...Follow

- When you have a NIN in your party that thinks they can outtank you and you first agree with "Sure, do what you want," then proceed to pull out your Staff (to catch up on your weaker weapon skills, hey, you're bored, you can't tank, and you want to benefit your potential Mage classes) only to watch them die a horrible death, steal back all the more hate even without your sword and shield, and say the greatest words a PLD can tell another wannabe-tank: "I told you so"
[ Guilty ]

- When you look over the updates on PlayOnline, see "Using Utsusemi will decrease your enmity" and proceed to call all of your NIN friends and tell them they might as well get another sub than WAR
[ Guilty ]

- When you find yourself having to return to your Mog -again- after every time you change your main job because you reflexively sub PLD

- When you sub one of the following jobs for farming, messing around, or just traveling, not because it's practical, but for the shock factor:

- SMN
- MNK
- RDM
- NIN
- BRD
- SAM
- DRG ( A Paladin with Jump... gotta see it just once! )

- When you feel the urge to go on a killing spree every time you hear "Blink tankz are teh roxors!!!!!!1one!!"

When u're in bibiki bay, as a lvl 66 PLD, fighting 3 dhamels & 1 Alastor at the same time, & think it's the funnest time you've had tanking in... well... forever...

(we got down to the last dhamel before the gob wasted the BRD & then it went down hill from there)

Got shield ups though.

All in all, a good fight.

These ones all apply to me *laugh*

- you know exactly how long 30 seconds is without having to actually count.
- you cannot understand what is so scary about having red hp.
- you have mysteriously grown addicted to the colour white.
- you have mastered the art of engaging, provoking and flashing a mob within 1/100th of a second.
- any other job has too little defense for your taste.
- you feel natural getting hit when you draw aggro while levelling your blm.
- intimidating an undead creature gives you an inexplicable surge of delight.
- tanking 3 mobs at 30 hp while the blm casts escape feels fun.
- you start getting depressed if a mage dies before you do.
- you fall in love with the rdm in your party.
- you walk in dark places and gleefully note how well you show up in them in your AF.
- you walk in Valkurm and and revel in the fact that you almost match the sand.
- the sound of your armour when it clinks on hard surfaces is music to the ears.
- you spend time in your moghouse just walking around admiring your armour.
- anything with VIT or Enmity beside a large number makes you start grinning :DDDDD
- you /salute a fellow paladin friend and neither of you think it's corny.
- you used Holy Circle while levelling in Valkurm just to show you were a paladin.
- you cried in happiness upon holding off your first Benediction without using Invincible.

-You use cure IV, for kicks, and notice all of ur MP is missing >.>

Hehe, that one made me crack up, I can't tell you how many times I've done that ^^.

You know you've been a PLD too long when...

-you say {I'm sorry.} for dying.
-you run around with low-grade armor on when you first get a party invite just to make your party members scared.
-you get a teleport-dem from a Galka WHM one level lower than you and notice he has more MP and HP then you(-Humes).
-you spend hours every day trying to think up heroic PLD quotes >.>
-you level war and accidently try using flash and wonder why it's not working
-you run around the valkurm dunes PLing for free just to show-off that new armor you just got.

I just love this thread, long may it reign. I am guilty of pretty much most of these, I used to leave my helmet off walking round town and forget to put it on, but now I don't have that problem.

Other jobs start saying "I'm sorry" when you die, even before you hit the ground

All the members of your party ask, "If you knew you were gonna die why didn't you use invinceable?" to which I always reply, oh then what would I use if you where gonna die? they all strangely go quiet at that point

Feel the need to tell your LS what your def is every time you use a new food, ability, armour. (sorry guys I can't help it)

1. you always voke off the NIN even before his shadows go off as SAM/WAR
2. you start grinning from ear to ear when your ws does more than 800 dmg to a too weak mob
3. you begin to twitch from not having the JA provoke
4. you start hitting your voke macro as WHM/BLM
5. you start hitting your recast timers in the middle of town

Ya... those all apply to me >.>

Here are some more that i'm guilty of

1. subbing WHM while lvling your WAR in yuhtunga just so you can give out cures for hate
2. voking a pug in cape terrigan and invincible tanking it until you die again
3. being the first one to charge into a field of IT gobs to clear the path and start laughing when your party gets past (dunes)
4. trying to cast lotsa cures to get hate while lvling WHM
5. Divine seal + Curaga just for the hell of getting hit

Add: 6. when you don't let the THF SATA onto you while lvling and just voke from the start
7. tell the NIN to zerk and put on DD gear cause he is not gonna be tanking
8. Cure IV on a friend you plvling who only has about 100 hp to try to take hate

check this out, i was playing and checked out the bazaar info of a Paladin and it read:

"Whenever a (Warrior) (Sub)'s (White Mage) .... a blind kitten dies"

You know you've been a pld too long when...

-tell the ninja to go afk as long as he/she wants, since you will make him/her useless

I've played many a job to fair levels, but pld still gives me the greatest thrill despite only having gotten it to 38 at the moment. I'm guilty on many things previously posted, like magic bursting banish2 and trying to provoke as pld/rdm among far too many others. I have a slightly lengthy bit of additions of my own though, although I will admit that they aren't as good as everyone else's.

-When you take the time to figure out how to effectively tank as other jobs, and impress people when you can actually do it consistenly better than 2/3 of the "real" tanks they've had recently.

<Drk holds hate through SATAVB from behind the monk, backhand blow from the monk, and another SATAVB from behind the monk. [2thf]>

<Same night, drk tanks a mob that would be a good exp mob for a pt 6-7 levels above us sans help from a thf. Same monk 2-houred and got off I think got in 3 Raging Fists during the fight, 2 blms nuking away, whm and rdm spamming cure3s (rdm didn't even heal him/herself after using convert), mob never looked away once.>

<Drg pulls, tanks, and does hefty damage fighting T's in a pt of 4 to finish someone's level before we disband. I think I got my friend to like drgs after that one.>

<Rdm/war, fun to see Blaze Spikes go to good use but I don't plan to do it much higher in levels (29 right now), mandys don't seem to hit me very hard no matter what job I play yet they seem to beat up on most other people quite a bit more.>

-When you get a PL that's only about 10 levels higher than you and notice that the mob hits the PL harder than it hits you.

-In above situation you don't let the PL take hate, I was solo with this PL so there was no one to give me flak about it; we found it to be much more efficient, and I was drg at the time.

-When you are fighting something with a belly big enough for you fit comfortably in, and wonder how it can miss you 10 times in a row.

-If you feel bad, bored, and wrong when the mob misses you 10 times in a row.

-When you go rdm/war in the jungles and notice that somehow you are the only one that can hold hate (actually happened, 2 nights in a row).

-If the effects of Aerial Armor and Earthen Ward annoy you more than watching people sit on top of while you lie dead...for the 5th time in an hour.

-Every set of macros you make has a spot reserved for provoke, even if it isn't really there. (Alt+2 for me)

-If you've ever gone all out on a mob with another job after holding back all night to show a friend how bad the pld is, and then laugh as you watch said pld panic to try to get hate back.

<Monk, had friend throw Haste on me then Berserk + Focus + Raging Fists shortly after being SATA partner for midfight skillchain; and it was hilarious. Friend now also understands why I told her not to haste the monk except in an emergency, or unless the tank is really good.>

-When you've gotten so tired of telling your pt {Poisoned} or {Silenced} that you just stop and let them figure it out and/or watch what happens when you don't have/can't use mp. (Sorry to not be able to do my job right, but people seem to learn much better when they figure things out for themselves instead of being told.)

-When you get steamed watching a low40's pld only using cure2 and/or not using flash except when it's needed, like countless warriors that only provoke when it runs for the mages.

-If you are like me and haven't figured out how best to use Cover yet becuause you rarely if ever have to use it.

<Right now the macro is set in <st> and I just have to be ready to hit the right F key for the person I need to cover, I'm not ready to devote multiple macros to something I so rarely use just yet.>

-You get annoyed seeing people in your pt play with their new abilities that you have seen over and over and over again, espicially watching people that have no idea what to do for SATA...at lv40+.

<Maybe that belongs more under "You've been playing FFXI too long when...", and so does the next one.>

-You have a skillchain/magic burst chart, but don't know where it is anymore because you haven't needed to look at it in you can't remember when.

You know you've been a PLD too long when...

~You are continually having to tell new parties that YES, you have all AF up to date, YES, you have a drk staff, and YES, you have pld food.
~You have to reassure the rng in your party that you are more than capable of holding hate over and over and finally give up and just show him
~You are fighting bones in Eld. Necropolis for coffer keys and you have a 60+ PLD with you and you pop Holy Circle every 10 min because the higher lvl PLD forgets to
~You have a link in an exp party and you pop all your hate tools so the mages can zone but see that lone DRK sticking around trying to take hate from you ~ you die and the DRK reluctantly zones then apologizes profusely because he tried to take hate and save you but couldn't
~You hold back on bitching at the DRK for being a dumbass for trying to take hate from the PLD and instead just say "np ^^ 'tis my job ^^"
~You are begging your higher lvl PLD friends to save their higher lvl armor and weapons so you can borrow them
~You are in an exp party in Cape Terrigan lvl 55 and there is a party next to yours... they aggro a pug and call for help ~ quick as a flash you are over there voking/flashing/curing etc... take all the hate and the mob dies. The party thanks yours and then you find out that you (the female Elvaan) have just out tanked a Galka PLD 3 lvls higher ----> true story
~You CureIII the puller who is barely in yellow just because the mob hasn't hit you for enough damage because of either shield skill or parry ---> /sigh
~EDIT~ADD~You stay up all night playing in an exp party knowing you have to do a double the next day just so you can get the next level and wear your new AF piece ~ so guilty of that more then once LOL

- When you sleep, you wake up to yourself hitting an invisible provoke button. ( I play PS2, so I'm constantly trying to hit the shoulder button.... )

- When a stupid Melee job decides to stand in front of you when the Thief is SATAing... and they take hate and you scream in anger in RL. Grr....

-you know youve been playing FF too long when your driving down the road and all of a sudden your friend yells "Dude dont scary the birds theyll link."

~When your party is going through downtime waiting for you to be unweakened (stupid pops), and the party adjacent calls for help... so you rush along to help out, and have already voked the mob before you remember you're still weakened >_>

~When your first reaction after being killed again isn't "damn" but "wow, <random tp move> for <x amount> of damage... that's more than THREE TIMES my current max. hp! :D"

~When you've been to Phomiuna Aqueducts so many times you have truly scary fomor hate... just because tanking the minotaur is so much fun, you can't refuse each friend/ls mate/random stranger that asks you to do it. Backwards tanking ftw ^^

I'm not very high level put I absolutely hate IM helmets look....I'm currently still in brigandin armour and well it looks hideous without my helmet on (looks like a checkerboard hoodie) but I cannot wait for my IM armour and Legs, ever since I first saw the NPC Wolfgang, I couldn't wait to have all my IM and not wear the helmet, because i'm the same Hume skin. 3 more levels and I'm equiping it right away, it's sitting in my inventory right now haha

-Lose about 9k exp in a week or so and you just shrug it off.

-kite Vrtra along with 3 of her summons and get the greatest kick out of it.

-Start researching ways to hold hate without a subjob for the New Dynamis

Lol, I think that's why people hate plds... 'cause way back when they were newblets, some mean ol' power leveler wouldn't let them tank... They were probably like... {Fear} lost power leveler, so they listened.

All my powerlevelers were my friends, so I told them ahead of time not to tell me to let them tank 'cause I wouldn't. :D

Anyway, I'm so bored. Someone think up more. ;)

-You reffer to exp/week instead of exp/hour bcus u never get pt's and when u do its without refresh and a bad whm.

-You wear VIT and DEF gear on your NIN

-You type "WHOO IM A NIN lmao!" when you get Arial Armor and one of your shadows dissapear proceeded by a /sigh

-You try leveling whm and purpousely refuse to heal the NIN, ending in massacre bcus they all that great and keep bragging about they never take hits¨

-You Laugh out loud when your galka warrior cant take hate form you with rampage + provoke, getting ur THF all pissd

-You feel like slapping anyone with phalanx rings
