Hello fellow Warriors,

I was hoping to get some input into how best to improve my warrior, factoring in the new Abyssea gear. I am a pretty much full time Warrior, and have made what I feel to be some pretty good strides in equipping myself over the last few months.

I'm not going to list all of my equipment, as I already know the obvious answer to some of my weaknesses(0/1 on swift belt the other night being one of them). So I'll limit the question to the five armor slots featured with the new Perle gear.

Head: TP: Walmart Turbin
Body: Hauberk
Hands: TP: Dusk
Legs: Byakko's Hidate
Feet: TP: Dusk

||| Haste +18 isn't fabulous, but it isn't terrible either
||| I am working on the Nyzul Climb, but am currently lacking all of that armor and King's Justice
||| I have very few pieces of WS gear, working primarily with RR and SC

So, given this bit of information, I was hoping for a bit of feedback.

Head: Perle Salade, with STR and VIT +5 and Attack+7 looks like a very nice WS option, especially for SC. I currently use Genbu's bucket for the +15 Vit, but I don't really have a nice option for anything else.

Body: Perle Hauberk +3Str -1Dex -2acc -2attack +2%Crit vs Hauberk. I am just plain not good enough with this game's math to compute which of these would be better. Please forgive me.

Hands: I have the Hecatomb mitts abjuration in my MH right now, saving for the cursed gloves. I'm pretty sure I should just keep saving for them...

Legs: I full time Cat Pants right now. The +5 Vit and +10 Acc make this an intersting piece to add.

Feet: Perle Solerets +5 Str +3 Dex. My only other piece of armor atm is Adaman sollerets. I know :(

I know there are lots of things I need to improve, and I'm working on it enthusiastically. How best can I use the new Abyssea armor pieces to give myself a boost?

Thank you all for any suggestions, and please be gentle.

i quit awhile ago and am not too sure if perle is difficult to acquire, but i've been lead to believe it's rather easy to get (?). if that's the case, i'd say that you're probably best off getting perle hands instead of hecatomb. it should be about the same comparison for WARs as it is for DRGs with drakesbane, which i talked a bit about here. there's situations where heca wins by about 1%-2%, but cursed gear is money right down the toilet...

perle feet are a definite upgrade to dusk. perle body is probably a little bit behind hauberk, but it depends...

i'm starting to feel the drunkenness, so i'll end this response somewhat prematurely.

I'm also interested in this. I made a gear set comparison and I'm moving towards getting a full Perle set rather than going for pieces but I'd really like some inputs for it.

Current gear:

Askar Head/Hauby+1/Dusk Gloves/Byakko/Unicorn Feet

DEF +159
STR +13
DEX +25
VIT +4
AGI -5
Haste +15%
Attack +17
Accuracy+12
Evasion -20

Perle Set:

DEF +179
STR +22
DEX +14
VIT +10
Haste +13%
Attack +25
Accuracy+18
Crit.R. +2%
Enmity +4

Perle is very easy to get. On two one-hour farming runs per week I can get one piece per week at least.

For someone like me, who sinks all his time and dynamis points into PUP, Perle is a **** nice set of gear. I'm not sure how it will rate for those in the Adaberk/Byakko crowd, but I'm not in that group anyways.

This is a gear set that gives 13% haste, 18 accuracy, 25 attack, 22 str, and other bonuses that literally anyone can easily get on 12-person pick up groups while making 6-8k exp/hr on mobs that are IT to a level 80 so you can skill up to cap.

Edit: also worth noting, there is no -evasion, no -movement speed, no negatives at all. It does, however, have +4 enmity (which, in my opinion, is negligible).

i'd like to briefly point out that anyone can get byakko's haidate as well. costs either time or gil. adaberk... requires einherjar, a ground camping ls, or lots of gil.

Honestly, both sets of "negatives" are fairly negligible. With or without the -Evasion on Hauberkeon, as Warrior, you're still not going to evade enough hits on anything that matters for it to matter. Maybe one hit out of a hundred. The -movement speed, admittedly, can get a little annoying, but if your puller is any good it isn't an issue, and if you're doing something in LS, then you're probably not moving around too much to where it'll make or break your shell.

I'm not saying the Perle set is crap; Far from it. Just that the negatives really shouldn't factor in one's decision.

That being said, a full set of Perle is okay, but you shouldn't just settle on it if you can help it. Einherjar or Ground Kings (kill or buy) for an Adaberk, Byakko for Haidate/Turban/Dusk Hands(+1 eventually)/Aurum Feet and such still seem, at least at first glance, to be the peak. Also, a few of the pieces look like solid WS pieces at the very least. In conclusion: I probably wouln't turn away someone in Perle, and I'm one of those **** "elitists" the whiny people complain about.

Of course, I'd at least hope they were trying to upgrade, but that's neither here nor there.

I disagree with the evasion, due to personal experience in Abyssea (vs mandies), Dynamis - Bastok, and Dynamis - Buburimu, where I had a rather startling evasion rate, not parsed or anything mind you, but the difference in evasion rate between, say, my war and my pup (at 75, 225 evasion skill, -30+ evasion from gear, vs 250 evasion skill, evasion bonus III (+34), and positive evasion from gear) is generally pretty obvious. My evasion rate on war since using Perle body has been more towards the "pup" side of the scale. It's gone from "lol, I evaded a hit guys!" once or twice a dynamis run to evading once or twice every 2-3 mobs. More than is "coincidence".

Also, note that I am not advocating eyeball parsing, it's just that I've delved so much of my brain into FFXImaths that I can almost semi-accurately eyeball some things well enough to make an accurate judgment call.
