Spiked Finger Gauntlets vs Fourth GauntletsFollow

I'm 52 at the moment. I know how everyone here is quite the equipment wiz, so like the subject says...at 55 should I switch to Fourth Gauntlets for the +5 accuracy or keep using Spiked Finger Gauntlets?

I appreciate any insight into this.

If you're parsing, use the Fourth when your ACC is lower, and the SFG otherwise.
Since you're still in the XP process, things are just going to vary. If you're on the low end of the level range at a camp or the high end, which may change over the course of the party.

What I did was make two TP sets. One that had a few more ACC pieces in it, one leaning more towards ATT. If we were on the lower end of a camp, I'd use the ACC set if Aggressor was down. That may be a way to do it for you, and isn't a bad thing to get used to doing for merit mobs (IE, a THF type mob is pulled, swap to a heaver ACC set to compensate).

At 55 I'd go with the accuracy, unless you're pre-meritted.

I agree.

Ideally, you're going to want to go with an acc + meat build, although 55-59 are the only real levels where axe will shine over gaxe (when you have access to Rampage but not Raging Rush just yet). Also, you're most likely going to be fighting Lesser Colibri during this lvl range, which, as you know, steal your food, so every bit of acc you can get helps.

I personally went with mithkabobs at this range (although Crab Sushi is a nice cheap option, which didn't exist when I was leveling) but even with sushi, your acc will not be capped vs. Lesser Colibri, barring a BRD/COR Madrigal/Hunter's setup, which is most likely not going to happen very much.

I'd go with the Gauntlets either way - even at 60+ when you have access to Raging Rush and meat. Your parser and your parties will thank you! Smiley: nod

If you're Dual Wielding(zomg, dirtywords), and are offhanding a Viking Axe, go with the SFG.

If Gaxe, see what these guys above said. Although you don't have to level on lolibri, the likelihood is you will be. Very, very sad. Smiley: frown

Yea, I miss those days that I'd be stuck at 69 and going off to exp PTs would result in as much deaths as there was kills, so your exp would just balance out and this would make you want to never exp again and just go off and ballista for 4 months and then eventually quit.

Oh wait. No I don't.

I think it is sad that we aren't advocating SFG anymore... I loved my SFG /sniffle.

The upshot of SFG is the "OMG-lookz-at-this-WAR's-shinyz!" effect you often get in PTs while using them...

I got WAR through the 50s and 60s with SFGs just fine... in fact I wanna say they lasted me right up until Dusk. They're a **** piece, even now.

SFGs are delicious, but fourth are a nice, cheap alternative for an otherwise lackluster slot until the 70s. If I could take either of the two, it'd be SFG, but that depends on the kind of gil you have to invest. Loved 'em for DRG, but didn't bother with them again for WAR after I sold them off.

Ok uh yea, just realized that they're both "gauntlets". I meant Fourth gauntlets.

If you already have the SFG, stick with em though. If you need to gil and aren't gonna use the SFG ever again, go with Fourth.

You can always get your SFG monies back at 72. Think of them as an investment, rather than an extravagance. That's what I did, never looked back. Ofc I also bought the whole Luisant Haubert set for the epeen+6, so...

Yeah, I partied there on my first static when I got rdm to 75. We said the same thing, and that's why I only ever partied there once lol. It required a lot of effort for just as much xp as yoou could get in other places. (Ulleg. Range would yield better while being almost as annoying)
