so i'm a blm/whm, and i reeeally don't want to give up the blm part to an advanced job. what is the best advanced job to get while still keeping blm? i've not decided if i want to sub blm or keep it as the main job.

i've looked at summoner, but (so unfortunately) i'm a mithra, and i keep reading that i'll be total ***** as a mithran blm/sum or sum/blm. someone please tell me these are the crazy rantings of a taru enthusiast.. please. i know it would have been better to be a taru, but just couldn't handle the cute (sorry).

also, while i'm at it.. anyone know what happens to the job you use to get the advanced job? say, if i have whm as my main job and become a summoner, do i lose all the spells i had as whm, or keep them? i'm an uneducated lady.

First off, you should not make a summoner a sub(support) job. If you really want to play summoner and blm, you should make summoner your main job and blm as your sub(support) job. If you make your summoner a sub job, the max level that it could go up to is 35. Therefore, summoner lose all it potential abilities.

You do not lose the spells that you learned from previous jobs. It is still there, but you will not be able to use it until your level is high enough. For example, your summoner is your main job and your whitemage is support job. Your summoner is level 10 therefore your whitemage is level 5 (sub job is always half of it main job). Your whitemage had learned cure, dia, and poisona back when it was the main job. As of right now, you will only be able to cast cure and dia from the whitemage spells because poisona is level 6 and your whitemage is only level 5.

Seecott is right, you want to be a summoner be a Main job.. BUT you shouldn't be a Black mage, since the group will NOT be happy if you starting using your precious mana on Black Magic, Summons costs alot you need every bit of mana you have,

BUT of course you should do what your heart desire

I WILL BE BLM/SMN just for one logical reason
FUN.. its not a good combination, but i just want to cast a carbuncle once in a while to ***** around, show off...
I pretend to lvl a whm, blm, smn all to lvl 70 so i can change the jobs with the necessity

If you want to be a summoner and have a good subjob be WHM thats the most effective way and you will be a GREAT support class (groups love it) Lots of Buffs, and back up heals

Blm/whm again, damage and heal if need...
Blm/rdm second best, with debuffs and more armor for you

Originally, I wanted to be a Black Mage who turned into Summoner/Black Mage. But I was silly and made my BLM an Elvaan. As a result I get only 7 mp per level. So I won't have any mana to spare for maintaining a summons.

So then I thought about Beastmaster, but I read (1) the beast may break the charm and attack me. Ok. I also read that Bind *may* not hold long, and the fact of the matter is Bind doesn't much hold AT ALL. So a beast that *may* break charm and attack should be phrased "is guaranteed to break charm and attack." And (2) beasts apparently steal exp from the group? So I'm not sure I want that either.

Then there's Dragoon...that has possibilites, but I'm not sure of the downside, yet.

Any other insights?
