Blm/Rdm or Blm/Whm?Follow

Every since FF1 I've loved Black Mages (and dragoons, for that matter ^^). So that's what I chose for my character in FF11 - a femtaru BLM. I knew since ff1 that red mages were a mix of black and white mages, with some fighting skills, but never really excelled at anything, so if I were to choose it as a subjob half the spells I already would have had from my Blm job. So I decided I'd chose Whm as a subjob, and have a BLM who could act as a backup healer in the party.

However, I've been thinking about a few things in the last days. For one, if I were to chose Rdm I'd get HP and INT bonuses that I wouldn't get from a Whm. Those two are really important for a taru blm. Since Whm's use mind I'll never be remotely good with my whm spells since tarus are defficient in mind, even moreso if whm is a subjob.

So if I were to chose a Rdm as a sub, I'd get more HP and INT boosts, making me a more specialized and powerful damage-dealer, and I'd get some basic white spells and some enfeebling magic. The downside is many of the spells will be duplicated, and those that are not will not be as powerful as whm. So, should I choose higher HP and INT, or a better repertoire of Whm spells?

This is pretty much a matter of personal preference. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that many of the extra spells that WHM get and that RDM do not are spells that automatically succeed, and that don't appear to be affected by MND. These are the various status-removal spells, starting with Poisona.

However, the choice is ultimately up to you, and is something that you'll have to figure out according to your personal preferences.

well number one with redmage subed you and blm your man you should NOT be on the front row, if BLM is your main your place is in the back doing other things. If you take WHM as your sub you will be given a long spell list, magical defense pluses auto regen later on and a nice mp plus and mnd plus. If you take redmage you will receive some of the red mage only spells, a smaller mp plus, a hp plus, the Fast cast trait and magical attack plus BUT you will not get as many white mage spells. Basically if you want to focus more on black magic such as nukes and enfeeblements go with blm/red if you want to spread out more and be a more versital(sp) toon then go with Blm/Whm
