Herald's Gaiters - Worth it?Follow

I've been considering getting myself a pair of these, and have one available to me for a short time. I already have another job I could use them for, but I'm fairly new to scholar and I'm having a little trouble determining how much the job would benefit from an item like this (which may sway me toward buying them, as having two jobs benefit greatly would certainly make the steep price easier to pay).

I realize that we can turn desert boots into a +movement item, though having to constantly keep standstorm seems to be a large disadvantage to the gaiters which work 100% of the time, with whichever buff you choose (I've been just about full timing hailstorm when I can) and without worry of its effects wearing if your buff wears at a bad time. I've heard that some scholars use them effectively for solo play, so it may just be inexperience on my part, but at the moment it's what leads me to believe that the gaiters could be a very worthwhile improvement. Still, I'd love to hear more experienced scholars opinions on this since I'm on the fence right now.

Any thoughts on how much of a priority I should make this item to use for scholar? To those out there who own a pair of gaiters, could you maybe share your thoughts on how much of an impact you feel they've had?

if you haven't had any fulltime +movement speed on a job before, i deliver the standard: watch out, you'll fall in love with it. make sure you're ready to part with that gil, b/c you won't want to sell them back. i can't speak for SCH-exclusive activities, but +movement gear constantly brings up mildly surprising or at least unexpected uses.

i doubt gaiters are "worth it" for SCH (up to the SCH and his/her bank account i assume), but i bet you wouldn't regret the purchase if it doesn't break you.

I know their useful for more than just nuke/kiting, but anything else is just a luxury but has no direct impact on making the job more efficient.

Comparing Herald's Gaiters to Desert Boots and Sandstorm is like comparing a Corvette to a Tercel.

If you got the gil, then get them and never look back.

Yes, they're good for kite nuking, but they're also good for buffing on mobs with a high dmg AoE, run in buffga, run out all that much faster. Also, a HNM pops, you can get there 12% faster than anyone without +movement gear. And with these, you don't have to stop every 3 mins to recast sandstorm, and you can keep other storm spells up.

You might as well kiss the gil goodbye that you use to buy these, because once you wear them for a while, you won't want to get rid of them ever.

In price and looks maybe. True the Herald's have a definite edge no doubt, but show me a Tercel that go just as fast as a Corvette and I'll show you my new Tercel.
