Only thing I like haveing SCH/whm for is the ability to one shot cure a PLD,MNK or anyone having high HP, for 1400+ HP in one cure. Rapture, Divine Seal Apollo's staff cure IV go! My highest cure is 1421 in sky, and of course it was hate from hell lol, but the WHM's were like wtf! lol.
I can go one better...
Aurorastorm, Lightsday, Korin Obi, Light Staff, Rapture, Divine Seal,
Accession, Cure IV. In Campaign Battle. Targeting an NPC.
For those who aren't aware, curing an NPC in Campaign using Accession dumps a massive AoE cure on EVERY allied target close to that NPC, whether player or NPC. It's an exellent way to rack up points. But I don't think Jagidbod was very pleased with my efforts. He hounded me around the fort for AGES before I went down!

how viable am I in a typical merit PT? Like for example, a BRD and COR definitely work there, just like a RDM... they're sort of like staples to me in 75 merit PT's
Truthfully? Besides missing Haste, which some melee's will cry like a baby without (It's quite funny actually -- you should try it someday!), we're actually pretty damned good in merits. Especially for Colibri camps, where we even outshine Red Mages in my humble opinion.
With a combination of Phalanx + Stoneskin, the melee's will barely get scratched, leaving you with ample MP for Enblizzards (or match current day, but NO EnAero -- it's resisted to hell on those birds) and the occasional cures. I rarely ever have to drop for heals, Sublimation takes care of most of that, and when I do it's usually down to over-excited melee's being jackasses.
You won't find much call for your Dark Arts abilities in a merit party, unless you join a manaburn (which are a lot of fun, but slower XP than birdies). So stick in Light Arts with Addendum up so you can erase the occasional Elegy from your hapless BRD when the dumb bird decides to play the Mimic game.
