Yes, in case you´re casting spells benefitting from one or the other, go ahead.
More options: Astral, Star (good luck on getting one), Serket...etc.

Which is true for most of the games arnour choices, at least as long as you speak of "1-piece-for-all-occasions-situations".
As much as i have different armour sets for different situations (examples: enfeebling set for BLM, divine skill-repose set for WHM), i use various earrings for all those sets.

general thoughts:
1) Yes there aren´t a terrible lot of ear and ring choices for SCH (us mages in general), and looking from a bright side that means not so many gear swaps.:)
2) Use the ones we have wisely, for max MP (astral earring/ring) or max dd (moldy).
3) Something like Loquatious earring is great with FC from RDM sub and Rostrum Pumps for some more FC (plus of course the light-dark arts cast reduction).

Rings and earrings are the most situational of gear slots, so understand that you very well may have an earring for all occassions.

For me, right now at level 66, I use Moldy and Phantom for nuking, Antivenom to rest in, and Antivenom/Insomnia for healing. Nuking rings are Tamas and Genius, with an Astral/Tamas for healing.

As I level, I generally look at BLM and WHM guides (here and on ickywiki) for their setups when I look at my most extreme gearing situations, and then I base their choices off this list at ickywiki:

It's a comprehensive list of a large number of general- and specific-use gear from 1-75.

thanks for the imput. and yeah might of worded it wrong. Not so much a must have as something that seems to be worth having with other gear.

I already do have Rpumps So was planning on sch/rdm with rpumps and loq. only 20 coins shy of loq.

I'll look up tamas and star(don't recall it) and yeah should get sekert to help sch and smn jobs. but least know I've got an idea thanks.

mainly didn't know what to look in those slots. I keep hearing skill skill int and mnd key. so looked over gear for that and saw very few things in those slots.

and yeah I know roundel and some other things hard to find. Still drooling of shen wags which are no where around yet. >.>

From reading your initial post and your signature I imagined your main job would be PUP and that you choosed a Raja´s from CoP.:)

Tamas is for SCH like no other ring. If one piece of gear is perma stored in a ring slot on my SCH, it is this one.

Your SMN would love it, too.:)

I don´t know about PUP, though.

yeah just looked it up why I didn't recall it is cuase I have rajas so I skipped over cop rings. sch is realy a surpise job for me. I had orginaly though to go to bst drg even dnc. I liked blm and rdm but never really got into them. Smn was fun and I do enjoy using it but pup just sucked me in.

And then sch did the same once I got pass the hell lvls (1-20 on sch just blows) started using charges and such I've really gotten into it. Being a sudo blm or whm makes it great to me cuase I can be healer or nuker on 1 job while not having to overly gear down with.

I only planned on 37sch bot now 53 but I will never take away from pup unless something better comes up which I may of found (ring of 8acc 8attak) might trump raja but till then no tamas.

as for smn. I play smn as smn not mock whm so I never cared for tamas.

The nuke set-up is pretty optimal. Maybe an elemental to use against resistant stuff.

The the healing set-up, SCH can't use Roundel (and I don't thnik anyone's found it yet anyway).

Novia/Delta is fine, assuming you need the -Enmity that much. I usually opt for MP choices though. Astral's nice, Insomnia's an alternative if you're watching your HP for Sublimation, and then of course Antivenom's good to rest in.

oh yeah Novio is nice for nuking forgot that one....

dumb question though is omaga worth getting? Or save points for other things?

and yeah I was thinking those hp to mp items hurt your sublimation ablity.

edit:

Wiki has roundle up as all jobs so sch should be able to use it. but it's not found yet that I'm aware of. just what mob drops it Past Version of Sekret.

Alla's description and FFXIclopedia's description both say WHM, BLM, RDM, SMN, DRG, PUP, and DNC

Maybe we're looking at different items or something >.>

I tend to look at ffxiah.com for accurate listing of jobs that can wear stuff. Once ffxiah loads them in their list (even r/ex stuff), they pull from the most current .dat file to show them, so the job classes can be accurate, as opposed to wikis where the data is up to some passerby to update.

*edit* and on that note, if yor're equipping -Enmity for Cure-mode, then you should be using that Enmity down while casting the spells. It's not like you're just idling in -Enmity gear, you want that gear to affect the CureIV-ga spam that you're using. (~.o)

this page has listing of everything and on the page it says,
