How much skill is needed for...Follow

I'm trying to figure out how much skill would be needed to actually land magic on higher grade NMs as far as enfeebling/elemental skill on SCH to have a decent success rate of landing anything. In off chance that LS may need a emergency gravity, bind, or sleep. Even extra nuking power if I end up not being needed to do anything else.

I forgot to mention, I currently have 303 elemental skill/313(with Ice staff)
and 289 enfeebling magic skill.

Waiting on getting Merciful cape. If that is the one with elemental skill and the one with the enfeebling skill and Advocate Pigaches.

With this, I should should have 308 elemental magic skill and 297 enfeebling skill give or take a skill point or two if my math is incorrect.^^

given the current gear in the game, i think the best we can do is 320 skill and 107int (+4-7 with normal foods) go cream puffs!

read the sch vs blm section of Kanican's live journal

"This does not reach the necessary minimum stats generally accepted by Black Mages to be effective in resistive HNM fights such as Tiamat; however, it is VERY close. Given a few more gear additions in the future, Scholar could easily reach either of the generally accepted tiers. Currently, it is NOT an effective nuker on resistive HNMs without buffs since it cannot reach the necessary stat tiers though." - Kaeko

with klimaform and the right weather, we can land stuff a bit more reliably it seems, but the recast kinda sucks and you'd need, i think (rough math), 5 scholars (4 if you figure in some resting periods) to rotate klimaform on the party to efficiently use klimaform.

with that I say, please be kind to blm's in your endgame parties, share klimaform with them =)

I can only speak in terms of dynamis mobs/NMs ~ you're enfeebling skill is good enough for grav/bind, infact, it is excellent.

Well, from what I can see skill level to land some nukes unresisted is pretty good. I still seem to have close to same DMG as BLM or more then others at times.
I recently fought JoL and managed to land 500-600DMG Blizzard IIIs in nuke/rest cycle. Fought Proto-Ultima last night with few resist even using full DMG gear and managed to finish it off when things started going bad. Though there was a BLM starting to nuke and a SMN about to Netherblast it if I had went down. So, I didn't exactly "save the day" there but I guess it was close enough.

Also helps to use Alacrity with Klimaform to cut the recast time down.

Well, I can only speak from a BLM standpoint, but when it comes to nuking HNMs, BLMs shoot for 330 as a minimum. So, I think if you can get close to that, you'll be ok.

324 Elemental skill is possible using AF body(+15), Elemental Torque(+7), Genie Gages(+8), Elemental Earring(+3), Druid's Slops(+5), Elite Beret +1(+5), Numerist Pumps(+4), Merciful Cape(+5) and capped merits(+16). 354 is possible with conditionals(Ice Staff, Wizard's Earring as /BLM, and Ice Ring on Iceday) but I think that's the highest.
