The only thing that matters about being a DD is being able to hit the ACC cap (check for RDM) hit the haste cap (check for RDM), and have a good attack value (check for RDM), then follow it up with a solid WS which needs ACC (check for RDM), ATK (check for RDM), and Stat Mods (check for RDM.)
Fact is RDM is capable of attaining all the same "levels" (ie. Usefulness) of gear that other single hand jobs can. We cap haste, acc, can break 600ATK (700 if you want to count Dia), and have access to large amounts of AGI, MND, DEX, STR (our primary WS stats). The only things RDM are missing that true DD's have are abilities like SATA, native DW, etc etc etc.
The only really sh*tty thing about RDM melee options is the limitations on daggers (which provide our best pre Emp WS), and the lack of a solid sword WS before Alamace. That is it.
