Currently lvl 20 and i have a quick question.

I just picked up stormwaker frame/head after the lvl 20 quest. My magic skill is only 6/63 @ lvl 20 so i wanted to take it to worms and have it spam dia to skill its magic. The problem is that is keeps running in to melee after it casts its first dia.

I read on wiki that if you are within 15 yalms, the automaton will remain stationary. I'm not personally engaging the mob, I'm just getting within 15 yalms of a worm and deploying it.

What am I doing wrong thats causing it to run in and melee? I must be missing something somewhere...

Thanks

Two things I can think of:

- It's not exactly you who has to be in the 15 yalms range, it's the puppet itself. If you are, and the puppet is behind you, at 16 or 17 yalms, it'll run in.

- It's low on mp, so it runs in to melee. Not sure if that behaviour still applies, but I think so.

Honestly, just melee and lvl with the whm puppet, and let it buff you, heal you, and haste you and it will skill up quite nicely! Faster than waiting for enfeebling timer to reset anyways, I think. If you have the gil, get a percolator, and keep a water maneuver up. Many people do not like spending money on an attachment that does nothing once you're capped, but I see it the same as spending money on skill-up food, to speed up the skilling process. To each his own!

Thanks for the advice.

I think I figured out why it was running in to melee; since my magic skill was only 6/63, it did not have access to cure which is skill lvl 12. Once i hit lvl 12, it stayed stationary :).

On a side note, it was actually very easy to cap magic skill on qufim worms once it decided to stay put. If my automaton was very low on mp, i retrieved it and ran to 29.8 yalms away with my auto behind me. Since it still had hate, the wrom would try to cast on it but would never hit it because it was over 30 yalms away. Since I was under 30 yalms myself, I never lost hate. refrshed/regened it to full and sent it back in. I imagine this could be done on any worms in the game.

capped skill on just 2 worms, and 400xp each kill :)

(Starting to really like this job, cant wait until whm/blm heads)

Thanks
