Percolator - Increases skill gain rate - Dropped from Ob/Treasure Caskets(GoV)
Just wondering if anyone has noticed a difference by using this attachment or not. Don't know if it's worth spending the 1.5m on. Thanks,

In my opinion, to justify spending 1.5 mil on that, it would have to automatically max all of your skills immediately upon leveling every time you level up, otherwise you're overpaying largely.
I personally have not had a chance to try it, since all my skills were capped before it was released, but that's way too much to spend on an item that will inevitably eventually become completely worthless, and can't be resold.

I assume the name is because skilling up is so boring, one requires a steady supply of fresh coffee to stay awake.

Even if your skills arent capped, they will be one day, rendering the Percolator useless. Thats not worth 1.5 mil to me...especially since it cant be resold to make back some of that gil.
This is kind of a useless post because I have no tests to show whether or not Percolator is "worth it" but I did spend the past 2 nights in Abyssea using the methods outlined in Camwins thread skilling up Sharpshot on worms. I used Percolator, Steam Jacket, Mana Jammer II, Scope, Barrage Turbine and just alternate Wind and Water Manuevers. Its a good method that I found to work quite well.
If youre at the right level to do this, try it out without Percolator and see how it goes. Id give it a shot myself but Im low on stones at the moment and want to make the most of my time in Abyssea until more build up. The method in that thread was used by PUPs before Percolator even existed and several PUPs still commented on it being quick so thats probably one of the better/faster ways to go, if you can.

I just built up Zeni as PUP/NIN by taking pics of the Naul in Aby-Tahrongi (flux 3). Used that to buy a few Ob pops and ended up with a Disruptor and Percolator out of the deal. Obviously your luck might be different but Id say that this is worth a shot before you go and drop 1.5 mil on an attachment that youll never touch again once you hit cap. If you have a THF friend, drag them out to Ob with you and have them proc TH a few times to better your chances.

I did ob as well. Got a percolator and a vivi-valve. Just need to get a disruptor and barrier module... Hopefully this evening. If you get some duplicates too you can always sell them and buy what you didn't get. Or you can sell them for some nice extra profit if you get more pops. But yeah, Nauls are the way to go.

Id like to call shenanagins. Even with capped melee i put it on and was getting about 2x the skill up rate with 1 maneuver, and 3x with 2 maneuvers.
I keep pretty good records on this sort of thing. I skilled to 288 magic in abyssea Kon at the rate of 5.4 levels/hr. Using the same playstyle from 288+ I averaged 6.1 levels/hr with 2 maneuvers up.
Melee was 8.1 levels/hr on DC-T bunnies in abyssea mis with 3 regen atmas just letting the puppet whack away. Again 2 water maneuvers always up. I don't see 8.1 levels/hr being 'triple' of what melee skillups were pre-percolator. The thing sucks.

i guess mileage will vary.
1 hours with no percolator = 0.2 skill ups for melee
1 hours with percolator (2 maneuvers) >3 skill points
It is a hugely noticeable difference for melee and ranged.
