I cant say 100% that any of the new attachments can drop in any of the zones. I can say that they drop in multiple zones.

I saw a guy get a disruptor from a chest in Zeruhn(i know this cause the jackass tried to sell it to me for 3 million....) and later on last week i got one myself in Rangemont(sp?) Pass.

I got the barrier and disruptor both from z mines as well as a barrage turbine and heat capacitor all while farming up skill up rings. Very much win....

Can officially say I'm not in love with percolator. I've leveled my mage puppet in abyssea Kon up to 288 without it and averaged 5.4 skill levels per hour. Could probably do more but I also focus on kill speed hoping that one day a hairpin will show up.

Well, got the percolator and in two hours today got a total of 8.1 levels. So actually a bit less than my average. DC mobs as usual. Small sample size but it certainly shows that its not a ten fold increase or anything.

Another PUP in my shell was talking about how wonderful it was for melee skillups but I'm just now at the water V stage of skilling so I have a while before I switch to melee frame and cap whatever is left after getting marginal skills on it while maxing ranged/magic.

I found the earth wyrm NM in abyssea-tahrongi to be a godsend for mage skillups. Just sic blm head on him with whatever atmas you got that can help: damage taken/magic damage taken down, refresh, more refresh, regen, earth resist, stuff like that; and just let your spiritreaver tank it with strobe, nukes, mana booster, mana jammers/steam jacket, and the like. You get plenty of skillups off the big guy, and maybe some horns and an auric dagger. Plus it's just fun to do. :3

Obviously stay away so you don't get hit by the wyrms attacks yourself though.

You know what? I didn't ;/

I'm up to 122 hours farming refresh hairpin now (not all of them on pup) so I tend to make it as brainless as I can. Pearl about 5 vnms, aeolean edge to get enough amber, then just autoattack and deploy. I'll get about 3 melee kills for every azure kill so lights are where they need to be 40ish minutes in without even trying for them. I normally don't use maneuvers just because its so grindy farming that @#(*$&(@#*&$ hairpin that I pretty much do it on autopilot while I surf the web on my other computer. It never crossed my mind that the skillup rate would go up with maneuvers like with other attachments. I'll try it today and report back in.

Just put in another 2 hour shift on hairpin. This time I did use maneuvers. Usually had two up. 15.3 total skill so 7+ levels/hr. That's a good bit over my 5.4 average, but again sample size is small.

However, usually I do get less than one level of melee per session. Today I got 6 levels so I'm definitely eager to finish magic and see how fast melee skills with the appropriate frame.

Now that's what I am talking about. I just got mine and time to cap all my skills finally and not dread the level cap increases coming soon.

Logged off in abyssea since I had a lot of time and got back on and did two more hours. This time I only averaged 4.5 magic levels per hour. My melee increases were well above normal again.

Of course I farm saplings which are pretty terrible for magic skillups since 2 of their tp moves are aoe that interrupt spell casting. But since the mobs are a good control group since I've been killing them since the dawn of time trying for hairpin I'm sticking with them just to observe the difference.

30ish levels to go to cap magic so maybe tomorrow I'll finish. Then I'll do melee where I expect to see nice results based on the melee skillups I've seen with the blm puppet. Seems nice for melee and sucky for magic skillups so far.

Curious what do the mobs currently con to you as? The reason I am asking is it seems that if you hit the perfect skill up range mob level vs current skill level your skill up rate goes off the charts.

I don't know exactly since I'm at work. But I can cast aero V but not fire V atm.

I really don't care about the rate of skilling. I'll cap before I get a hairpin (up to 129 hours now!). But since I had been doing saplings since the fire 2 levels I had a good baseline of what they gave without the percolator so I wanted to stay with them once I got it to see if there was a difference. It's been underwhelming for magic skillups, but like I say, it seems like even with the mage puppet that melee skillups come MUCH more frequently (my melee skill level is like 290ish?). Although yesterday I did get 13 dark rings so I guess that's something.

When I cap I'll probably just cata leeches or something but until then I'll probably stick with saps. 2 clonids in the spawn zone for azure/amber. No aggro. No links. I just try to make it as mindless as I can since I could have done 2-3 emps so far for the time this hairpin has taken.

Today I'll break my AF out of storage so I can safely keep up 3 water maneuvers to see if that helps more. Been staying at 2 for the most part.

Cool cool 13 dark rings **** that's a nice chunk of gil lol. I was just interested in what I could expect and hopefully SE didn't make it only effect melee and ranged attacks. The old SE would do that I am convinced to just f with the player base lol....

Soloed Ob last night and got a Disruptor to drop. Still trying to decide if I want to take advantage of its AH price of 500k or just use it.
Gotta get more Zeni now. At least its something mindless that I can do between waiting for Firesday.

Im really hoping for Percolator soon. My ranged skill is horribly behind and will only get worse with the upcoming cap increase. I started skilling on ectozoons yesterday and even a small increase in skillups there would be welcome.

My experience with the percolator with multiple water mans. up was amazing I went from 290 - 316 in a few hours against the sea vultures. This was just amazing to me, in the same time frame took my rdm from 271 to like 305 skill with the p. ring duel wielding daggers. So happy I camped the skill up rings and attachments talk about a love hate relationship with Z mines lol.

Not to toot my own horn, but you out there looking for magic or ranged skillups, just do what my ranged skilling guide says further down on the first page of the forum, and add percolator in.

Yeah but that way doesn't yield refresh hairpins or cor base feet...although in fairness neither has targeting those items lol.

Your problem is you are farming to much gold light.

If you want feet/hairpins you want t4 chests not t5.

It should never take more then 2 hours to get all 6-8 feet from a zone and if it does then you either arent killing/pulling fast enough or your amber light is too high and you are getting mostly key/temp items

A good night in altepa and i can get 4-5 tiger king hides in about 2 hours if i dont go over 40 amber light

No I know what I'm doing. I farm exactly 80 amber in vunk and never get KI chests. I kill about 150 mobs an hour because my voke timer is only up for half of the pulls. I alternate rabbits and crawlers to farm crour while skilling/trying for feet. Cor just haven't dropped yet.

As for refresh pins, I probably stayed at 100ish amber for 40ish hours (remember visions zones don't have the light bonuses of other zones) and never got KI. However, after reading through some BG posts I decided to start maxing it as people were observing better augments depending on amber quantity. Over the last 80 hours this has proven true as the dark rings I get are 5/5 or 5/6 instead of the 3/0 I used to get most often when not capping amber. Yeah, you might get wivre hairpins more often with t4 chests, but from what I, and others, have seen it's not going to have the good augment as often.

<1% drops are just like that. Not that I mind, since I'm not skill capped anyways. Also, I've made about 20M off eve drops. I'm just looking at is as a race at this point....hairpin or capped skills. It's all just something to do until emp group gets on anyways.

On topic: another session yielded similar results. I'm leaning very heavily toward percolator not affecting magic skillups.

Capped out magic and moved to melee skillups. Using 3 regen atmas and keeping 2 water maneuvers up I would just let the puppet go toe to toe with bunnies in abyssea vunk. This took me from 305 to 320.8 in two hours so like 8 levels an hour. Don't know if this is what people get without the percolator or not since my melee got to 305 from it naturally skilling while on mage or ranged puppet.

At any rate it really appears that percolator is not a magic bullet and is probably something inane like 5/10/15% increase based on maneuvers. It would actually be faster to use the haste or double attack maneuvers instead of spamming water hoping the percolator kicked in if you were leveling a melee puppet.

These are "T" bunnies btw. Accuracy from puppet maybe 70-80% with no pet gear at all.

From my experience the percolator and the new food help more when in the skill leveling sweet spot. So basically at and A- skill at 305 target mobs around that level 82-85ish. I been sticking to that principle and skill ups go up like crazy.

Basically Look up ur current skill and rating in the skill and compare against the level and fight mobs +2-3 levels higher and your skill ups normally will rocket up.
