AS > SP did Fragmentation. It closed light as well in beseiged but I can't figure out what made it do that, maybe dragon kick > AS ? sorry not much info here atm >< will continue to test, the burts nerf knocked me down a bit lol.

Stringing Pummel > Armor Shatterer : Fragmentation
Armor Piercer > Armor Shatterer : Fragmentation
Armor Shatterer > Armor Shatterer : nothing

That makes it Fragmentation/Transfixion.

so I'm using inhibitor and not getting String Shredder, Genta only uses Bone Crusher . .. I have enough skill

Posted asking people thoughts on this but no one seem to take notice. There's only two reasons why I came up with why it's not working. 1 it's A is darkness or light(Aka double dark or double light for you skill chaining flunkies) or 2 inhibitor hasn't been updated with the new ws elements thusly our pet doesn't check for them. I am thinking it's 2.


Oh and before anyone points out that another level 2 could be it, I thoroughly tested that angle.

not to nitpick and derail much but unless they changed something recently then I know from breaking latents on a load of weapons that if your closing weaponskill kills the mob then the skillchain part doesn't go off. That was the point I was trying to make.

I admit I assumed you were doing this against a Bog Body (Qutrub) as they're the only normal mob I can think of in Abyssea that has enough HP to see the skillchain with that much damage.

Or is this exclusive to Abyssea (where you can see the skillchain regardless)? I honestly don't know for sure and would like confirmation.

To confirm, you are correct in your assumption, the darkness did not occur because I killed the bird I just already knew it would occur, so I just posted simple numbers. Sorry for the 2 idea mashing into 1.

Btw the reason pummels are ridiculous now is because crit DMG cap has been raised to ~100%.

Good to hear I'm not losing it just yet then. Now I really should pick up a few choice Atmas that I am still missing. Was getting near constant 3-3500 Pummels (with the occasional 4k+ spike) on dolls using Stout Arm / RR / GH before this update, so curious to see what happens when I finally get round to getting SS for more crit damage.

Whats the general consensus on the best combination for melee DD Atmas for master + pet with these new changes? SS/RR/AoA seems to be thrown around in a lot of conversations.

Personally i've been using VV/RR/Apoc or GH/RR/Apoc. And i have no complaints to offer on it thus far.

I will test the wsc sometime this weekend if I am not beaten to it.

With the old WS:

AP was based on str (~50%) and dex (~20). It was possible to get 3k AP with SA.VV.Roaring laughter. That being said the best combo for master/pet:
VV/RR/Apoc hands down.

GH/RR/APOC would is ok for solo but will do less dmg,.

From what I hear so far, it sounds like String Shredder uses Thunder as its trigger. How do you trigger Armor Shatterer? I haven't found that reported anywhere. Haven't gotten to play since the update :/

Drop drum, it's really only useful on skilling, keep scope and turbo. Drum magazine will make your barrages harder to get good barrages on, since if any hit on the barrage misses, the rest miss not to mention drum mag, drops your racc by a lot.

early test, against coastal colibries 2 wind 1 fire with flame holder 4061 damage with armor shatter, now that is armor shattering indeed, VV,RR, and Stout Arm.

brb testing string shredder with atma.

Edit: I see not big of a difference on string shredder, it is stronger indeed but not as much change as with armor shatterer wich is a monster, also inhibitor works! yes!

Just a quick confirmation that before unlocking String Shredder, thunder still triggers string clipper... This last 3 points of skill is taking forever....

Not sure if this has been said or not yet but...

Dragon Kick > Armor Shatterer is Light SC, it also works in reverse.



Not as strong as SP/SS SC but for those without Stringing Pummel for some reason this is your best SC.

Tried the new WSs outside of abyss, during a Nyzul run to get some trial weapons for friends:

String Shredder is pretty unimpressive, doing about 600-700 damage. SS + Darkness from skillchaining with SP did a combined damage of around 1500.

Armor shatterer on the other hand... Very solid 2-2.5k damage, and although the skillchain is not level 3, Fusion is potent enough to make for very impressive damage.


Haven't had a chance to go to abyss, and will be away for a pair weeks, so I'm curious about it: is Sharpshot still clearly better inside abyss, taking into account RR benefitting Valoredge melee more? (plus the increased SS damage, of course).

Man, I can really see why they nerfed the Burattinaios with how powerful these new WS are. Armorer Shatterer is just ridiculous. Great damage, chains with Victory Smite, and apparently defense down? With 10 TP Burritos, it'd really be just wrong.

Yeah 324 is the magic number finally unlocked the AS Wskill and **** its so gangsta I can't stand it just almost impossible to keep the little guy alive lol. I can now forgive SE for my Burts nerf well almost but at 10 tp a tick pup would be God mode in and out of abyssea lol...

So whats your attachment setup to get max DPS from this sucker???

I've been using SS regularly in Dynamis and Abyssea in the past couple weeks, and I'm pretty happy with the below:

Turbo Charger
Barrage Turbine
Scope
Flame Holder
Tension Spring II
Tension Spring I
Coiler
Dynamo
Stabilizer (arguably not helping me if automaton acc is capped, but I'm being conservative here)

Stealth Screen
Auto-Repair Kit II
Auto-Repair Kit I or Flashbulb or Steam Jacket
(Below the line don't affect offense and are really up to you as general utility/defensive choices. Really more up to personal preference.)

A couple notes:

- Barrage Turbine is strong, especially if you're able to get multiple Wind maneuvers up before deploy when it's ready. But the one downside is that if the puppet consumes wind maneuvers to Barrage mid-fight, and then has TP to WS, you may be left with Fire or Thunder dominant and get Arcuballista or Daze. Hard to avoid that happening at least occasionally if you're mixing in Fire/Thunder. Really too bad this wasn't an automaton JA on a timer (a la Flashbulb, Shock Absorber) that required a Wind maneuver up (and strength varied by amount of maneuvers) but didn't consume maneuvers when it was used. Oh well. Still worth using, but not as perfect as it could have been.

- I typically go very heavy on the Wind maneuvers. Haste, R.Acc, trigger for Armor Shatterer, and gives me more chance of having multiple wind up when Barrage triggers mid-fight. If you've been idle for a few minutes you can know to expect Barrage, so load up on Wind before you deploy. I try to mix in a Fire maneuver before pettp=100 for Flame Holder, and occasional Thunder.

I use optic fiber and 1 of the autorepair kits.


EDIT:
On a side note about barrage, its rediculously over powered at low levels. A fully skilled sharpshot at lvl 10 with barrage was doing 200-250 dmg barrages (max) and 150 dmg (avg). At low levels its probably a tie, but our pets are rediculous with all the attachments. BLM nukeing for 2-3x that of a player, SS one shoting things with a single wind maneuver and barrage.
