Listen up my booty loving friends, I need some help!
I am in the middle of an identity crisis. I am a returning player that leveled BRD on Midgardsormr back in 2004 and was involved with some endgame (back then at least) activites. I never got a lot of gear for my BRD beyond stuff that is obsolete now (Opo opo crown, etc) and I quit and gave everything I had away.
However I recently returned with my brother to play with friends again and I decided I wanted to level DNC (possibly my favorite job ever!) and got it to 75 back in January or something.
I want to level another job - but I have this complex about leveling job with compatible merits (5 Dagger 8 Sword currently and I stopped Dagger on purpose as I am undecided at the moment) and leveling a job useful to be abused by friends. I know this is a hamrful policy towards my own well being but it's just one of my things.
So I've been torn between what I want to do. I don't feel like BRD is my main job (although I am unfortunately on it more then I would like - though I find it more enjoyable then when it drove me insane back in 04-05) and I do love DNC however due to the hive mindset of "unless you fill a specific role or provide super buffs - you're useless" - it is difficult to be included in things.
I have a desire to do many activites although I am commited to none. I operate in a small social linkshell who do random events (ZNM, etc) and another incredibly small linkshell of - in my opinion - some of the best and most knowledgeable people in the game. We have interest in doing small-group oriented things (which usually results me being BRD) but due to some of us being in Singapore and some on the East coast - scheduling is difficult with so few people.
Sorry for the above, here's the meat of the question:
Do these things make COR a job for me:
1.) My first linkshell in '04 was called PiratesNeverDie (PND4lyfe!) and we pretty much invented Yarr. :d
2.) I enjoy support jobs, I really do - but BRD is just so boring. Even when I am 'busy' it is just not very fulfilling to me anymore.
3.) I like flexible jobs that can fill different roles based on the situation.
4.) I enjoy jobs that was generally "desired" for XP and events - because when I excel at these jobs people notice and remember you.
5.) I very much enjoy the physical DD nature of COR as well as it's seemingly inherit ability to kite/QD kill things here and there - which give some seemingly exciting solo oppertunites as well as a more involved role other then spamming buffs and tossing cures at people.
6.) I have Alchemy 100 and am currently maxing smithing to 60 to HQ bullets (regardless if I do COR or not - it's steady income along with some other things) which would help out.
7.) Booty excites me.
8.) I heard Pirates excel at obtaining Booty.
9.) Although more people are leveling COR - there's still very few "good" COR out there who play the job to it's maximum potential. I am a person who plays jobs to their maximum when I truly love the job.
There's many more reasons I have been mulling over COR the past few weeks, but those are a general basis.
The other job I was seriously considering is PLD - due to wanting to be flexible and have a tank job leveled (since I do have a 'support' job in the means of BRD) as well as getting a different perspective on the game from a tank view - plus it would help our small shell since we really only have one Paladin tank who honestly shouldn't be on anything other then his WAR since he's a very competent, powerful Warrior.
However.. I want a job to make my 'main' job.. and I want it to either be A.) DNC or B.) the next job I level. I want to commit myself to the job and do everything I can to maximize myself at it.. My merits line up with both of my projected goals really, having Sword for PLD and Dagger and Sword for COR (As well as already having Joytoy for DNC messing around, etc). .
Argh, so very torn!
Did anyone ever have a similiar situation or anyone who would randomly offer their experience? What sold you on COR? Anyone reading here that wanted to do COR but picked something else?
Yarr!
