O am considering making COR my first level 75 job and was wondering if I may need to level another job alongside COR in order to break the level 70 limit or if this Limit Break quest isn't that bad? I have a DRG at level 54 so I could level it and fight Maat instead, but I feel like I might be betraying the job I want to level first.

How hard is this Limit Break as opposed to doing it with another job?
(and why isn't this quest in the Alla database O.o?)

Defeating Qultada really isn't that bad but it can be very luck dependant. COR was my 1st job to 75 and I beat LB5 long before any of our updates, so it should be much easier now.

The strategy I used was.

Chaos Roll
Hunter's Roll
Opo-Opo necklace >>150% tp
Blink band.
Icarus Wing

I engaged Qultada and fired off a Slugshot>> hit Wild Card praying for TP >>Hit Slug shot again>> Used an I-Wing >> Slug shot for the win. The actual fight part lasted about 15 secs lol.

I know a lot of people use Quick Draw and since the update you'll have even more uses of it if you decide to go with that kinda strategy.

Good Luck Mate

Yeah, following Viska's guidelines and doing a Slug Shot > Icarus Wing > Slug Shot > Quick Draw > Quick Draw > Wild Card > (Slug Shot) > Quick Draw > Quick Draw strategy should be all you need, and it's much less dicey (see what I did there?) than it was before all the Quick Draw updates when you had to rely on mostly Slug Shot.

I'm 1/1 on this fight, and he actually went down really quickly and unexpectedly for me, especially since I forgot to use a Poison Potion before going in and he used Light Shot on me before I could use my second Slug. -.- No self-SC there, but I still made it just fine. This was before QD charges too.

Just make sure to gear mostly for ranged attack (Fire Staff, Axe Grip, etc.) and eat meat (I used a Coeurl Sub), since he's not particularly evasive.

I'd also recommend doing the Qultada fight over fighting Maat on some other job because it gives something of a conclusion to the COR storyline, which the Maat fight doesn't do for other jobs. I liked seeing Qultada one more time. :)

Goodbye Vana'diel, it's been fun. Continuing my adventures in Hydaelyn.

Formerly interested in also getting to 75: DNC, DRG, and PUP.

I'd say COR is one of the easier G5 fights, so don't be too afraid of it. It's true that getting a testimony is a bit more of a pain than other jobs, but if you go in prepared I wouldn't expect to need more than a couple trys (hopefully you'll win on the first one).

COR just has so many tools for quick damage on this fight. With Quick Draws, resets from Random Deal and Wild Card, and the ability to get a couple quick Slug Shots off by using (1) Opo-opo Necklace and sleep potions to start with over 100tp, and (2) an Icarus Wing mid-fight... you should be good.

I went 1/2, and only lost my first one due to some exceptionally bad luck (got rocked for 2 crits, missed my Slug Shot that would have killed him, and kinda fumbled around with QDs). Went back for a second attempt and won easily.

A couple other tips:
- practice first on the Pulling the Strings solo ENM, as it's essentially the same strategy
- A Blink Band helps get you a few free hits

Yeah, I was thinking of doing this fight just for fun on COR, to complete the storyline, even though I did limit break on PLD many years ago... Besides: fighting Qultada == so awesome!!

Oh, I've actually done that, Synthia. At 75 it's ridiculously easy, especially since having Martial Gun means you only need 100 TP to fire Slug Shot. Qultada barely scratched me.

Still, nice to hear his little congratulatory speech.

I just got to level 40 and unlocked Quick Draw...

It has a recast of 60 seconds, so ...

...assumes a 60 second wait between the Quick Draws in this strategy?

Actually you get 2 charges, hence the back to Back Quick Draws. Random Deal and Wild Card can both reset your Quick Draw Recasts.

Oh, I didn't even notice Random Deal at level 50. Is it more or less guaranteed to reset Quick Draw if that is the only ability down at the time (I assume you want to make sure your Phantom Rolls aren't still on recast)?

What about Wild Card? If I get a 1,3, or 5 is it more than likely to restore Random Deal and Quick Draw if both are down (I assume 4 on a Wild Card roll is the best, but 3 is ok as well while the others are mediocre rolls)?

As I get closer to doing this, (I still need testimony and a couple levels) I was wondering if /TNG is the wsy to go for the fight and if Barrage should be used in the fight.

Or is /WAR for damage or /NIN for blinks better?

Final limit break quests disable your subjob; that's why no one's mentioned them at all (and why suggestions like Blink Bands and Opo/Sleep pots are required instead of Utsusemi or Meditate).

I thought about linking you to the wiki page and then noticed they don't even explicitly mention the subjob restriction on it. I guess it's just common knowledge for a lot of us by now.

I lost the first time I tried this. Hit both Slug Shots but in the end just didn't do enough damage. I ate Sushi so I bought some additional gear and will eat Pot-a-feu instead. Unfortunately it's been over a week and I haven't gotten anyone to help me with the testimony again.
