After 10 months of doing 6-7 Nyzul runs per week, I finally have all the gear I want from it: Denali Feet/Legs/Body and Quicksilver for COR, and Goliard Feet/Hands/Head/Werebuster for WHM, as well as a bunch of random Nyzul weapons and an Askar Body in case I ever level a job that can use it. Most of the rest of our group is close to being similarly maxed out, and we're starting to make the transition to doing Salvage. Just did Salvage run #7 last night (Zhayolm attempt #1), and our first 35 drop, Freya's Trousers, went to me ^^.

Last week, I bought Dusk Trousers and:
Yay, I got my Quicksilver tonight!

So, apart from Salvage gear, my COR is pretty much finished gear wise. Well, until SE release more info about the new relics...

/waits anxiously next to Ghanraam for my completed piece ^^.

Well, it's nothing compared to some of the more /droooool accomplishments I've seen here, but it's a big deal for me!

2 1/2 months after re-starting FFXI from scratch - I finally got what I've been dreaming about - Slug Shot - and it's even better than I imagined it to be. The funny/sad part was that when I first hit 55, I figured I'd have Slugshot since with the Gun Belt I'd be above 175 skill. Sadly, even after capping out my skill that level I did not learn Slug. It was then told to me that the Gun Belt +5 Marksmanship allows you to use Slug Shot one level earlier if you had already learned the skill - to learn the skill requires the base hitting 175. Doh!!! But earlier this week I got Genkai 2 done and last night I hit 56 (and 57).

Oh man!!! Slugshot is so fun!!! Last night's highest hit was around 1060 with a decent Chaos roll (no DRK in party though!!! drat!!! wasn't IV or XI either), Minuet III, & Warcry on a Lesser Colibri. I felt powerful. It's exactly the chain-saver that I had hoped to be and it lets me feel like I can accomplish that role with ease.

Grats on Slug Shot!

Actually, you do get Slug Shot 1 level early if you have Gun Belt, but for it to work you have to unequip it and re-equip it after you ding 55. No idea why SE designed it like that, I figure it was probably an oversight on their part.

Jaws dropped again. Let me go cry in a corner.

In all seriousness, thanks for the info. I was kicking myself for not knowing this and could have enjoyed Slug Shot a whole earlier, but I got over it in about 2.6 seconds thinking about Slug Shot tonight. =)

Thanks for the info though, hopefully that helps the next guy that comes along itching for Slug ; )

COR 61

Now if only i could get decent parties that lasted more than 30mins i'd be happy. Unfortunatly i'm often stuck in SMN main heal parties lately with bad tanks on AoE happy mobs.

Also, Whats the deal with evokers roll!!!!!

I rolled a 9 on that 5(count it) times in 30-40mins. Everytime i doubled up i bust.

Got to 60 on Friday, and this afternoon I got some help from LS and friends and got my spiffy AF hat =) =)

And now I'm motivated to get the not-so-awesome AF hands just to have a full set. Then it's onwards to Genkai III to get higher level. Good times : )

Unlocked Detonator last night. Went to solo the beet leafhopper as RDM/BLU but a couple of THF's were duo'ing goobue in the tree with their NPC's and offered to help. So we trio'd the mob with NPC backup and it went pretty smoothly.

Detonator is a pretty cool WS and definitely the second most powerful gun WS. Not sure if I will use it routinely. Need to get more RATT gear I think to get its damage potential closer to slug shot. But it is a cool thing to watch.

I remember when I first started playing again that I was wondering when the day would come that I posted this in this thread.

Ding! COR 75 - my first 75 =)

I pushed for the final 73-75 Stretch this weekend by joining a pick-up group for the second time ever on my COR (first time was earlier this week to catch up in xp with my static). The PUG wasn't good, but I toughed it out then tried another one. It wasn't very good either, but made progress. The third one was an awesome one though, and made a lot of ground. And finally, Saturday night I was 16k to 75 and about to sleep and I got an invite from a Bard saying {Party} {Long Time}? Sleep can wait, 75 was calling my name. About 2 hours later or so, I was sitting happily @ 75 with 18k buffer xp. This was 4 AM.

This is the longest I stayed up for a computer game in a long time. I was dead tired and satisfied. I went to sleep and when I woke up I decided to reward myself. How? With merits of course.

I woke up at 8 AM and xped off and on. I got 8 merit points today. <3 Snake Eye. <3 Fold. I'm loving this.

To all the Corsairs still on the way up to 75 and sometimes getting frustrated with the inability to do much about Unlucky IXs - there is a light at the tunnel and that light is **** bright.

Haha, looks like we've got another addict in our midst :P. Grats on 75, Tan!

Since this thread is back from the dead...

Finally picked up a Paladin Die when one showed up on the AH. Paid 60k for it. :D

I'm usually a completionist and get every little thing for my jobs, but I let Gallant's Roll slide because... well, it's Gallant's Roll. But I did find my first situation where I thought "hmmm I'd like to use Gallant's" this week, so I decided to rectify the situation. Dice NPC was gone for the past couple days but what do you know, die was on the AH and I am now the second person on Titan to purchase one in 2008 (and 17th ever).

Anyway, that situation I was talking about - friend was camping Simurgh and it popped, I wasn't doing anything so I headed on over. They had a PLD RDM DRG trio, not the usual evasion tank low man setup. They actually wiped, but they were getting close. I showed up as they were dying, ready for round 2 (thankfully nobody else was camping him) - a THF friend was also on the way and joined part of the way through the 2nd fight. Anyway, since Sim was hitting the PLD pretty often and hard, and I had the PLD in the party for roll bonus, I kinda wanted to use Gallant's on him. But I couldn't.

I just went with Chaos/Hunter's for the PLD and DRG, with Dancer's once when they needed a little more HP. Maybe Chaos/Hunter's on the PLD was actually better damage than I would have had from Gallant's, I don't know. But I would have liked to try it out, and it's at least not a crazy idea.

[quote]I decided to go ahead and eat curry instead of sushi, because I had double minuet and chaos roll on myself and I wanted to see what I could push out.

average of 1,500 dmg slug shots, with my best going over 1900. over 50% of a mob's HP taken in one shot, was very satisfying.[/quote
Theres nothing quite like multilpe attack (2 min, chaos roll, coeurl sub) buffed Slug shots, They seem to turn COR (Rng even more so) into more of a power house then most jobs, as each regular shot also takes chunks out of the mob also.

Im taking a break form cor 65, want to finish nin off, hunt charybdis then finish the run up to 75.
