I left the game 4 years ago and have returned last week. Now I did read the stickies, but this is an overload of information and I think it might be easier to get the feel from other players and what they think.
I was RDM and BLU mains because I enjoy the versatility of both of em. Before I left though, BLU was not liked the least bit, mainly because MP was a hindrance for TP burn parties. Healing on BLU was a big No-No and nuking on BLU was borderline retarded.
Now after reading the sticky, and trying to understand abyssea, I assume the roles of each changed a lot in past few years ? Is nuking still bad on BLU ? What about healing ? And also, do we still sub /nin in parties ?
Bringing the level cap over got us access to DW3 but now that we can set a less effective DW trait ourselves, is there new options opened now that are actually worth it ?
Charged whisker is pretty useful in Abyssea for AoE burn. Regurgitation is useful for both inside and outside for bind. Other nukes are not as unique and easily replaceable by BLM nukes, only serves as magic dmg dealing purpose when needed.
BLU is actually second best healer in Abyssea with all the MND boost, although still way behind WHM. It also generates a sh*t tones of enmity. It's certainly not a no-no, just easily replaceable by a WHM.
There are other SJ that's useful depending what you do, /WAR /MNK /DNC /RDM /THF(rarely used nowadays besides farming though) are all pretty useful in different situations.
MP issue isn't as bad nowadays. You get new MP efficient dmg spells such as Delta thrust, you got access to more refresh gears and spells, you got a good melee sword Almace that improves BLU's melee/WS dmg and rely on MP to deal dmg less. And this job is still one of the best job to AoE burn(compare with WAR, it can AoE burn with less support), and getting yellow proc. The versatile ability to generate Azure/amber/pearl light easily is also very useful. This job is generally way more popular than it used to be IMO.
