Cool, thanks. I hope my merits allow me to break the horn without too much trouble then.

I don't know about the whole "Critical will break the horn"

I must of SA a couple Imps and they were not breaking their horns immediately. I think it is like the Qutrub. Those only disengage at lower than 50% health. I think it is best to let the imp to get to less than 50% of health, and then start SA'ing it

Short update for me..

Yawn - I learned Yawn almost instantly on the boat to Nashmau. Just a not though, throughout my whole Blu career since level 1, this is the VERY FIRST spell that I learned that didn't show up in my chat log. I'm not sure why, but, that is how it happened.

1000 Needles - Wasn't too bad of a hunt. USUALLY I see sabotenders running around rampid. Of course, the day I decide to hunt, they were all hiding. Made sure to bring at least NPC, or hunt as /smn. I went with NPC. Then, a friend came out to help as well, which basically made 1000 Needles worthless against us. Before he came out, I was still doing fine. 500dmg didn't really effect the fights too much at all.

Also, sucks to say, but, WITH my AF hands on, currently I'm 0/12 on Memento Mori, ;;. I really wanted to get this one, since, it's the last spell that's REALLY far out in some unfamiliar territory for me. Anyway, I'll be trying again when/if I can get help for it again.

Question on Radiant Breath - can it be learned from the Firedrakes in Riverne Site #A01 or do you have to go to #B01? As I only have access to #A01 I'm hoping they will give it to me. If yes, how many people does it take at level 40 cap to kill them.

I personally don't think it can be learned there. If it can, your chances of learning are slim to none, if possible at all.

The reason is due to the capped Blu magic skill level you'll be restricted to. That 14 level gap, just isn't good at all to gamble with. In #B01, there's only a 4 level learning gap, which is well within range.

What do you need for the kill? I believe 3 man party minimum would be all you need. I went with 6 Blus however, and we totally shredded those Wyverns. We killed so fast, we had to hold back, just so they would actually have time to use the move.

In the end, I suggest going ahead and getting #B01 access, then going in there and learning fairly quickly. That's the best thing I can come up with to tell you.

I just started BLU (and may I digress here to say that of all the advance jobs I've unlocked so far the cut scene for this was the best, I only have SUM, DRG, COR, and PUP to go. Also BLU casting looks nifty) and only have four spells as of the moment but they were all gotten in a two person party with my fiance, who is also doing BLU.

Pollen lv 1 - E. Sart. Incredibally I learned it from the first bee I fought, took Vit about 10 kills to learn

Foot Kick lv 2 - E. Sart Vit learned this one first off of the fifth rabbit, I took about 10 more

Cocoon lv 3 - E. Sart I think we kill four crawlers before I learned it and Vit got it after the fifth or sixth

Wild Oats lv 3 - E. Sart This one took forever! Though I think only four mandies. The stupid lil buggers kept using Photosynth or scream insted of wild oats. Vit hasn't learned it yet.

So I think the most annoying thing is the fact that the mobs dont always use the spell you want, as in the case of the mandies. The rabbits too kept using dust cloud instead of foot kick. Does anyone know if there are areas where the mobs have a tendency towards one move or another?

Not really Caitir. Some people like to say so, but, I don't believe it. All of my numbers, are fact from my experiences. I went where ever I thought would be eaisest to solo/farm a mob. Some places were places people said weren't good to go, and some were.

One thing that remained constant though, is that EVERY mob you pull of the type you're farming WILL use the move if you're patient enough (Except for the dragon for Body Slam in Xarcabard). Level doesn't seem to matter either. Based on that theory, I havn't gone crazy out of my mind farming spells yet, because I don't have to fight a large quantity of mobs to learn spells (I'm a patient person).

Although, at the moment I'm 0/12 on Memento Mori (with AF hands). I think I'm bothered by this, mostly because I have AF hands. If I didn't have AF hands, it probably wouldn't bother me at all, but, oh well.

Good luck, I really hope you enjoy leveling Blu as much as I have up to this point. I'm actually still liking Blu more and more as I go along (it doesn't stop being fun). Keep it up, let me know how things progress for you....Blu owns, :P.

This thread is great for those that are starting blu, But I'm a little in to the job and geared and capped well enought that # of mobs that use the spell is less important than getting the mob to use the spell or surving to the end of the fight. Lvl 60 Blu I've soloed off all the piddle spells:
Infrasonic in the nest 1/1,
Maelstrom off kracken 1/2,
Bad Breath off Marb near Templ 1/1 (was camping light od pen)
1000 needle 1/3 inwest altep,
Frypan 1/3 inold mo,
Hydro shot 1/1 in SSG,
Yawn 1/1 luck me silver seas boat,

Frenetic Rip 1/2 users 1 for 23 mobs (i kill them befor I can break there horn)
a war friend help out with GA so they would use it. out side Il staging area

Now for the one that are stumping me
62
Body Slam The only Dragons that seem reasonable here are merit pt dragon in Mt. ZH

Memento Mori Corse WFT these are so evil and nasty most ppl don't want to help

63
Spinal Cleave nasty and weapons break problem

64
Voracious Trunk this mob not so bad itself but spawns those lil flea things there like 100 fist x3 and weapons break.

66
SandsprayI have not messed with the lil rat men yet but I understand the tend to flee from fights

Frost Breath And this is a pain the only Raptors that use this that I know of are in the UL range.

If anybody has good info on a better way to Break weapon, or better mobs/camping grounds let me know. And anyone on Pandy looking to camp these messed up spells look up Kneila maybe we can get these.

I take it you weren't soloing those originally, not at level 60 anyway, as Heraldic Imps (the only Imps in the area you are talking about) are IT+ at Lv.69 if I remember correctly.

To break weapons you just need to score a critical hit (although it will break randomly, so you may need to crit more than once). Chain Affinity + Sickle Slash or Sneak Attack are the easiest ways I can think of.

About Sandspray, go to the graveyard that is outside Nashmau (west exit) the Qiqirn there won't run away and it is an excellent camp for a 60-62 party with fast kills. However as soon as someone hits 63 exp will take a nose dive as things will start to /check T+ instead of VT+.

Chigoe can be one-shotted with a weapon skill or a critical hit (if I remember correctly anyway) however they won't give you exp if killed that way.

The nasty thing about Spinal Cleave isn't having to break the weapon... it's that the lowest level Qurtub is about Lv.72-73.

yes I was soloing imps at 60 the one on the boat from whitegate to Nashu are not that bad just remember echo drops. of course I sub rdm for fast cast, greater int then nin or thf and better ac damage then blm. After 20 kills with no weapons break I enlist 75 war friend w/GA for waepons break. But over all I out damage any other blu I pt with, hands down, my acc is not that much lower then /nin or /thf they do get me on the once in a while SC, but in an 4-5 hr pt I easily do twice to 3x the damage, my spells hit as offen as there and 75% of the time harder.

The Imp on the ferry to Nashmau is easily soloed (it's only around Lv.55). Orderly Imps in Caedarva Mire (North Exit) can also be soloed (although the fight will be a close one for /RDM). You said that you were hunting imps outside Ilrusi Atoll Staging point which most definately can not be soloed at level 60 (unless you discount the 10 power levelers :3 ).

I wasn't starting yet another subjob debate. I also go around as BLU63/RDM31 although I have tanked twice as BLU63/WAR14 (don't ask, it's not an interesting story).

In other news I just learnt Infrasonics, which took ages. The stupid lizards in Pso'Xja refused to use it, however I did get about 30 levels on club skill trying to learn it (yay, lol).

Edit: re-read your first comment and realised that you must have meant that you were hunting the imps outside Ilrusi Atoll Staging point after the WAR joined and not before.

7) Post on the forums about not learning it yet, while you're trying to learn it, and you'll learn shortly there after (Credit goes to Deathpain for this one, it has been proven to increase chances by 99%, :P), lol

post taken from KI :p

This is just a vent for me....

I havnt had any "Major" issues with spells...Self-Destruct took a few goes but nothing has sucked with as much intensity as this spell.

LS farmed Orderlys with me outside Nashmau for hours on end and we didnt get one horn break im not sure on the best method for this but i have seen it done
So then we went to try "The Die is Cast" NM and we fought him like 16 times and no learn sometimes we did the quick kill and others we let him go nuts. He did 45 one round...
Im 63 already and i got the AF gloves but nothing...

Why oh why do you hate me god

End Rant

Peace to all Blue Mages

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND

Never mind lol i got it straight after that post from the NM
God i love this jobs the highs and lows are too much

I had an okay learning session this past Sat.

Hydro Shot - Too Weak Sahagins near the lakes before the tunnel heading to Sea Serpent Grotto. No story to tell here really.

Infrasonics - Since I was just going to run back to Khazam, I figured, might as well kill a few lizards on the way. Next thing I know...I learned Infrasonics, ^^.

Frypan - Too Weak Moblins in Oldton Movalpolos. I never really fought these guys much. He had a lot of cool moves I had never seen though, ^^.

Well, I just had a lot of fun recently. Good parties back to back to back. I'm now lvl 63, but, it looks like my fun will have to come to a hault now. I'm at the point, where I've soloed all the spells I can solo (with the exception of Heat Breath, which I can solo around the level I can learn/use it). I really just wanted to keep on this xp trend I was having, but, now, I'm at a need for some spells I REALLY want. From now on though, I'll require help to learn spells, which, isn't always easy to come by, or grabbing what I can from Besiged as well (I have yet to learn anything there, ;;). Right now, I need...

Memento Mori
Frenetic Rip
Spinal Cleave
Voracious Trunk

So, basically, I'll be sitting at level 63 for a while, because, I want to experience Frenetic Rip to the fullest. Anyway, hopefully I'll be back on the road to 75, and getting help for these won't take as long as I'm thinking.

Great job thus far everyone, ^^.

Yeah, if we were on the same server, I'm sure we could go Duo (at least try) those spells.

Frankly, I'm still a little annoyed though. I did have help to farm Memento Mori once, but, went 0/12 with AF hands on, so, that bothers me just a bit. Either way, I'll get it soon, as I'm taking a break from xping to do so.

started lvling blu again this weekend, and after hitting 38 I decided to go get geist wall (tried at 34 and 36 and got slaughtered by the efts every time), needless to say, when I get there I see a bst killing every eft in sight, so after getting up to full hp, and still down 100 mp, I decide to try one. First fight it does the move, and I learn it.

So, since I was out there, I decided to run into attowa chasm and try for Mandi bite... STUPID IDEA!!! They can not be consistantly soloed until 40 btw...

As I start fighting my first one (a tough), w/ my NPC, I am fighting even w/ the mob when all of a sudden a 70 rdm from my ls hits me w/ a cure III... After that he decides to stay and help me. We pt up and are off. While I probably could have beat them (the first fight I would have won, but would have been drained and probably in the red). As we are fighting (about 6 mobs) all of a sudden, right near the entrance to the tunnel system (just down the hill for those who have been there) a burrow antlion pops out of the ground and nails me with it's trap attack. Fortunately my rdm friend helps fend that off. After that mess, we killed one more, and I got it in that fight.

So, now just need Stinking Gas, Awful eye, and magnatite cloud and I will be set until lvl 48.

Cool, and welcome back, ^^.

I remember those levels. I had some REALLY good/successful spell hunting runs then. I think I went and learned three spells around level 42, and then, like, 8 or 9 around level 43 (Once I hite 43, that spell hunting run was AWESOME!).

Good luck, I'll be looking to see how successful you were, ^^.

Since I don't really see a pressing need for either stinking gass or Magnetite cloud I am debating waiting until 45 and just doing a push for all the spells up to 50... but every time I say I am going to wait, I have alittle down time and go get myself killed a dozen times trying to get them (ls members I think have gotten used to me getting killed, so they start "Showing" up where I am hunting spells and curing me since I hate trying to get ppl together, and I missed the big "Blu" rush of 06, so lower lvl spells are a fend for yourself kinda thing).

At least I now have Sea, and when I get up to 70 I have a couple of LS peeps that LOVE to play w/ the sea mobs (they are much easier then ppl let on... however the re-raising mobs are annoying at best). My only real worry looking forward is body slam... which is (in my world) months if not years away:).

First off, {Congratulations!} on {Sea} (Big Accomplishment there my friend, /welcome Rfolkker)

Warning, this probably be a long post....

Okay, so, the other day, I stated, I'd be stuck on level 63 for a while. I really didn't plan on leveling much more, until I learned Memento Mori, Frenetic Rip, Spinal Cleave, and Voracious Trunk. My whole Blu career, I've been consistent with my spell learning. I don't like to keep going, without knowing ALL my spells if possible. I logged on yesterday. I told my LS, I was determined to learn these spells, TODAY! I plan to do whatever it takes to get it done and over with. I feel, I have too many friends in this game, to actually be stuck on something. Especially something like this.

Here's the off-topic funny part of this post (It is relevant, but skip if you don't want to read).

During my shouting sessions, I get a familiar /tell from a friend of mine. This same friend (Ulicia), is someone that I became friends with, strictly via /tells. I don't know how she heard of me, or where, but, she just sent me a /tell one day when she first started leveling Blu. I spoke with her for while, answering any/all questions she had. She was very polite. After about a week of back and forth /tells randomly, we added each other to our friend's list. I told her way back then, due to my in-game playing time, I'd be coming to her for help sooner or later. She laughed, and we continued on. Low and behold, the one person who made time to help me yesterday, was none other, than my friend Ulicia. She's since passed me in levels, and was willing to help me, now that I was the one in need (I'm so glad I wasn't mean to her like some people are who receive random /tells from people who need genuine help, or really just have some questions they feel YOU can help them with). Now, we get things started (5 Blus hunting/needing various spells)...

Frenetic Rip - Oh yeah! Finally, I have this AWESOME spell. Man, I REALLY hated being level 63 and not having this spell, ><. I was so mad at myself, but, doesn't matter anymore, :P. I have it now, and it's awesome. 300+dmg each time so far, with 407dmg being my high. I just casting it randomly just to see it. Didn't set it up or anything, so, those numbers will change.

Sandspray - During the Frenetic Rip hunt, we decided to kill some stuff while roaming the area looking for more Imps. Since we were at the cemetary part of Caedarva Mire, we decided to take some Quirins as well (I mean, it wouldn't hurt anything). Woot, got it! Wasn't even part of the planned run, but, ok, I'll take it, :P.

Spinal Cleave - Very nice move. I like fighting Qutrubs anyway (Makes everyone's E-peen just a little bit bigger, lol). Now, EVERYONE who came has learned. I'm the only one left (felt bad). I was the one slowing things down it seemed, ;;. After a few looks (on these not easiest mobs in the world), one of the other Blus suggested I wear her +Chr gear. I said, okay, sure, I mean, nothing else is working, so why not? Well, I learn on the very next Spinal Cleave used. Thank you for that, BUT, I'm still not a believer. Do I think I would've learned on that next one either way? Yes, I do, but, fact is fact, I did learn that with the +Chr gear on, nothing can change that. As you keep reading though, pay attention to the summary in the end, to see why my viewpoint on it, still hasn't changed.

Diamondhide/Enervation - Well, after the Spinal Cleave hunt, some of the higher level help that came along was rotated out. The new helpers didn't want to go for Memento Mori next, as we had planned, so, that got put off for the time being, ;;. They were willing to help with some spells that Ulicia needed more so. Oh well, that's fine. I mean, she is the main one volunteering to help me so, I can still help her as well. Once again, some of the others have learned some stuff, but I havn't yet. Were going and going, BOOM, GOT IT! /busts a move. Now, I'm right in line with the others. Fighting both types of Trolls, some learning Diamondhide, and some learning Enervation, but, no one learning both yet. Still, I still felt left out, because I was like the 4th or so to learn, ;;. Well, we had been at it for a while now, and the tank said he had about another 45min or so left. No one had yet learned both moves yet, but, we didn't want to miss out hunting more/other spells, and decided to move on and attempt Voracious Trunk (since it's in the same zone). Leaving camp, the tank gets aggroed, so, we end up having to fight one more Troll. BAM, Enervation is mine, woot!

Voracious Trunk - Wow, this is the first time I've ever fought one of these things. I've done lots of reading on them though, so, I knew about the Chigoe spawnings. What I didn't know though, was the INCREDIBLE def these guys have, yikes! Camping these is similar to camping the mobs for Venom Shell. There's no worries on whether they'll use the move of not, they spam it. You don't have to hold back or anything (you're not going to kill these quickly, lol). Yep, you know it, Voracious Trunk, mine, ^^! Afterwards, I went and changed to my 75Nin, and we smoked like two more right after that, with everyone learning who needed it by that point (The tank we had at the time was lvl 72). When I got there, with two Nins on it, they went down much much faster.

That was it for my run last night, ^^. I plan to meet up with Ulicia to farm Memento Mori, and Frost Breath this upcoming Thurs. On the whole +Chr issue. The reason I'm still not a believer, is because, by the END of the night, I had learned the most spells out of the whole group (60Blu, 62Blu, 63Blu(me), 66Blu, 68Blu). No one else learned Sandspray (in the short time we farmed it), and no one else learned both Troll moves either. That's why, I do believe in the AF hands (to an EXTENT, /stare SE), but not in Azure Lore, or +Chr theories. My own methods, still seem to stand firm for me (+Blu skill, AF hands, and quick kills after move usage). None of it can be proven fact, other than me telling you guys my experiences. Good luck to all, and I'm free of the "stuck at level 63" curse now, ^^. I'm free to level for a few more levels, knowing that I STILL have all spells now, ^^ (minus Body Slam, -_-).

Woot, fun for me restored!....Blu owns, :P

Checking last night, I noticed I forgot Awful Eye. So this morning I logged in, outposted to Tavnazian safehold, and before I had healed up all my MP I almost ran smack dab into a Decent Buggard. Decided to go back around the corner, heal up, and once I had full mp I attacked. The thing was hitting me for 40-60 dmg a whack, so I decided to go all out (no way I was going to live if I held back)... Oh yeah, popped my NPC as well. The two of us made short work of it, and literally 2 hits before it dies it hit's me w/ an awful eye. 2 hits later I am the proud owner of awful eye:).

So far getting pretty lucky on my spells. Still had 2 hours before I had to leave for work, so I went into the aquaducts and found the doomed type. Decided to pull the gloop off it first so I didn't accidently aggro it... Bad idea. A lvl 38 blu can not kill a gloop... I took down 1/4 it's life, it took me to 1/4th my life as well as mp when I decided enough was enough, hit it w/ a pinecone bomb and got my **** out of there.

Went back in after I healed, and decided just to try the flesh (still being stubborn and thinking it can't possibly be tougher then the gloop). It wasn't. I owned that thing 7 ways from sunday... But since I had gotten burned by the gloop I went all out, it never did the move:(.

At this point the LS member who helped me yesterday sends me a tell and asks if there are any Doomed type that he can kill. He is a 70 rdm, so I tell him maybe the ones in garliage citedel, but I am way to low to fight them. He tells me he is up to try if I am. So we head out. Another LS mate who doesn't have stinking gas yet (lvl 50 blu) askes if he can join, so the three of us go down. Rdm gets aggro from an over weapon on our way to the camp, and we have to escape (right before we kill the over weapon an evil weapon aggros to the blu, when we have the evil weapon down to 25% life another evil weapon spawns and links in, and I think that was about the time the rdm converted and escaped). So, this time we all go back in, sneak up, and make it to the camp. We pull the first fetid flesh and get to work. After about 10 mins of fighting it, and only getting it down to 50% life, the rdm hits escape again (I (on cure duty) have 18 mp, the other blu is out of mp, and the rdm was at less the 1/2 life and only had about 100 mp left). At this point we figured we wouldn't be able to win w/o a tank. I had about 10 mins before I had to get ready and leave for work, so I decide to go back, change to nin (70/35 nin/war) and come back. The three of us go down. I don't even wait, just run in and start fighting (snuck my way through w/ an oil). It does a stinking gas before the blu gets there, and so I decide to try and hold back as long as I can while it had < 10% of it's life left to try and get it to do one more... It doesn't, so we finally kill it... No love. So we pull the other one, at this time a 75 whm was on their wait to our camp, but I was out of time, so I just all out zerg it. Start the fight w/ berserk warcry and hit it w/ a decent blade: Jin. Then proceed to build up tp again, and do one more blade: Jin. At which point it does Stinking Gas. About 1 more minute and a disease later we kill it, and the other blu got his Stinking gas (whm never made it to us).

Needless to say, I probably will not go back there to learn Stinking gas. I will stick to the random stops in the aquaducts between now and 44 and hopefully will pick it up.

Now I really do only need those 2... Can't wait until I get to 40 so I can find the fun that is Chain Affinity... Then 44 for SACA Mandi Bite.

Lol, wait, Deathpain = Ulicia?

Lol, I didn't know that, that's cool, ^^.

If so, do you know how many times I've done /sea all Death, /sea all Pain, /sea all deathpain. It doesn't have your in-game name anywhere in your sig, so, I never knew.

Either way, thanks a million Deathpain/Ulicia.

Body Slam, ok one question is it worth the pain of camping pts to beg for help, or dragging all your LS friends out there for a spell that you probably get on second or third mob (only Blu in my LS.) I am at the camping stage cause most my LS, that are helpful, have camped the out of lvl spells (I have a sickness have to have spells when or before I can use them)with me already, and are not looking at this as a pleasant site seeing trip idea. Please give me your feedback on the usefulness of this spell, BTW is the max HP boost only 10 hp like the max MP boost is 10 mp?

edited for bad spelling not that I got it all, lol

I don't know Pervataru. I have yet to learn this spell. Out of ALL the spells, this is the only one I've been willing to skip on purpose. I'd rather camp it, when I'll actually be able to help kill the dragons. I too, always have tried to have all spells before, or at the level I can use them (done a good job so far).

Body Slam, just doesn't sit right with me to get on time. Me coming up there, just to sit and watch around level 62, doesn't seem right. Don't get me wrong though, if some people are willing to go up there for me, I'm all for it, just, I won't be any help at all.

On another note, Death, we still hunting Memento Mori and Frost Breath tomorrow? I'll be on between 5:30pm-6:00pm EST.

Thx Nicest, I think I'm at that same point. my 2 cents on Memento Mori, I got this 2 nites ago, this is no spell for 2 60-65 blus to camp, corse will eat you alive. I got so lucky tryed to get an all Blu pt to go camp this 2 ppl showed me and one other. Well I figured I'd atleast go scout where the Corse spawn, and lucky me I found 2 lvl 75 bst killing them for drops got invite on the condition that I did not fight, got spell on third mob, thanked them endlessly and warped out happy. This was the first spell I true did nothing to get, not cast, melee, or cure. And as for Frost Breath I still need but it is a consinsis of Pandy that only the raptors in Ul range use this, and are in learning lvl (one BCNM 30 uses too)so i'm waiting till 65 to got pt these. If anybody knowsof lower Raptors that use this skill please tell me, I know after 4 hrs of solo in the campain, and 5hr pt in valley of sorrow I did not see it once either place. thx

Yeah, I have some experience camping Memento Mori, I just didn't learn it (currently 0/12). They aren't hard at all. We were trioing them for a long time (Mnk FTW). There's two level type Corses. The regulars, and the arches. The Arch Corses are much harder and higher in level. The regular Corses are dominated by lvl 75Mnks. You just need a sleeper there once they get charmed (Or try to sleep them yourself with Pinecomb bomb, sheep song, or soporific).

Frost Breath I think can only be learned in Uleguerand Range. I havn't seen any other raptors elsewhere use it. Other raptors use Flame Breath constantly I believe. It's just like bombs and snolls. I think all the cold moves are to come from the northlands on purpose. I think it's designed that way.

Cool, I'll see you tomorrow then.

{Congratulations!} on the scholar thingy, I still have yet to know how you get the title, and/or what it menas exactly. Can't believe I helped someone become a scholar, that's cool, ^^.

On another note, I'll probably be requesting your help for more of the later spells as well. When I start bouncing back and forth (Blu, Drg, Blu, Drg), you'll be steadily leveling Blu and probably learning left and right. Be on the look out, :P. That Rng, or 75Blu of yours will be needed, ^^.

I just wanted to make a note of something. I started doing every besieged since level 60-62 or so. Before AF I had learned 1 spell in roughly 20+ besieged (Warm-UP). Since AF I have learned 2 spells Enervention, and Radiant Breath, in 4 besieged. I am now 70 btw and dont have to many missing spells. But I plan on doing all besieged where a mob might be that I still need a spell like cannonball. Just follow those mobs around and try to get your party or alliance to kill them as well. Good luck...

also these are the spells im missing at level 70, is there any of them you use in exp parties either for traits or just use ?

48 Jettatura
62 Memento Mori
62 Body Slam
64 Voracious Trunk
68 Firespit
70 Amplification
70 Cannonball

{All Right!} Update time....

Also, for those that don't know, my thread has been added to the "Blue Mage forum Index Guide Compilation," http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=16;mid=11459078628021325;num=53;page=1, found in the stickies, ^^.

Set out to finish up my spell hunting for the next few levels (little did I know how complete my list would actually be, ^^). Posted from beginning to end, in order....

Memento Mori - FINALLY I've learned this spell. Geez, on took me 14 tries. I suggest NOT to farm the ARCH TYPE Corse mobs. These are doable, but far more hassel than a farming trip is worth. Instead, camp at (F-8) http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/?act=show&id=attohwa_chasm. There's more than one way to get to the area I'm about to describe, and for the sake of arguing, I won't post my one way I know. You need to reach the top left corner of (F-8), or top right corner of (E-8), somewhere right around there. There's a black smoke here, between two rocks. It's not a very large smoke. Eventually it will disappear. Just be patient. When it goes down, just find a nice safe camp (I camped around the top right corner of (F-9). Then, wait until 20:00-4:00. There's plenty plenty lower levels Corses that spawn here (I think Cipati spawns here as well). These can be duoed/trioed. Be careful though, these mobs do Charm person with most hate. At that point, it's a good idea to sleep quickly (Most of the time, that person is the helper you brung along). Charmed 75mnk? {No Thanks}. As far as seeing the move, no worries. Like many other mobs at these levels, they use the move often. Usually, somwhere around 1-1.5times a fight (usually kill quickly after usage). In times where fights lasted a bit, using it twice wasn't a rare sighting.

Frost Breath - AT FIRST this spell looked like it was going to be a problem for us. The first Raptor we pulled, didn't use Frost Breath at all. Seemed like it was going to be a rough one to learn, because, it used a ton of other moves (Scythe Tail at least 50 times). Turns out though, that first Raptor was just a fluke. After that, each Raptor used Frost Breath at least 2 times per fight. Not much to tell, because both Blus involved learned quickly (Not difficult fights at all either).

Body Slam - That's right, Body Slam. I'm a new proud owner of this spell at level 63 *flexes*, and my friend Ulicia level 67. Okay, here we go. First off, we knew we were going the Smn route. I alos advise, whoever can spare it, come /Nin. Body Slam only takes down 2 shadows. If it can be spared, even the Smns can /Nin, and let the Blus heal (if they can trust them that well). Blus can definitely /Nin, there by assuring there safety while zoning in and out (I'll explain later).....

Plan A, basically involving the Taru Smn (Kamehameha) soloing. That actually was working fine, but, any mistake at all, would prove fatal for the Smn. Lots of risk involved, but doable. Though we never actually killed any going this route, I know it can be done. Several attempts, kept getting it to about 10-15% HP, but, then something would happen and result in our loss, ;;.

Plan B, was pretty much like plan A, but, we had a Rng with us. Since camp is SO close to the zone (When you get to where the Dahaks are, you'll know where we camped, just inside the zone), the Rng decided to spam some Zerg dmg on the mob, then, just head for the zone. This sped the dmg up A LOT (Barrage 576dmg, Slugshot for 550dmg, then zone). Still, in the end, wasn't enough. A little closer this time, but, around 5-10% HP mark, turmoil ensued. Now, time to pull out the big guns. No more messing around now. I call in more Smn reinforcements. Two more show up (Arrode and Chronus). Now, there are 5 of us (The Mnk from earlier, changed to the current Rng we had, who needed to leave now). So now it's (Me 63Blu, Ulicia 67Blu, Kamehameha 75Smn, Arrode 75Smn, and Chronus 75Smn).

Plan C now, Kamehameha informed the other two Smns as what was to come. If you've never been here before, or fought these, you really don't know. It's not just your average shadow dragon fight. The first fight, still resulted in a loss, but, that was just because it was new to everyone, so, didn't know what all to do exactly. Ha ha, but that all changed (experience is sometimes the best teacher). Every fight after that one....OWNED! Those mobs CAN NOT mess with three 75 Smns. Especially good ones (Yeah, that was my shout out to you three, :P). Now, it was just a matter of time in waiting to learn. I strongly advise Smns to kite kill. Every attempt at using BPs during the fight, proved VERY risky, and dangerous. If you really want to BP, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, be very careful. The Smn grabs a lot of hate, just for using a BP, and sometimes proved fatal, or near fatal (Except for finishing blow BPs). Now that the strategy is down pact, here's the Blu's role in all this (Yes, you can help out):

Just be supportive. The Smns can heal themselves, but, they're doing so much as is, it wouldn't hurt to help out. Use the zerg strategy from before. Toss a couple Magic Fruits, and zone if you get hate. You can avoid hate by casting out of range. Also, if you want to do some dmg, after a few experiments, we found some spells that helped and performed well.

(Ulicia, 67Blu)

Frost Breath - Did GREAT dmg when unresisted. Average somewhere around 400-430dmg or so I believe.

1000 Needles - Leave this one alone.

I forget what all her other numbers did, because, eventually, she started casting Frost Breath only, and then healting and zoning with me.

(Nicest, 63Blu)

Mysterious Light - was well rejoiced from the Smns. It stuck every cast with no resists (not saying that it won't get resisted, just saying mine didn't).

Bad Breath - landed once, unresisted for 141dmg. Only around 30-50dmg every time there after. Some debuffs took place as well, although, I can't say which.

1000 Needles - Ummmm, leave that alone. 0% landed.

Magnetite Cloud - I just figured, might as well. It did less dmg than Mysterious Light, but, was still gravity effective.

Radiant Breath - Bascially, another breath spell. Doing dmg anyway possible, so 30-50dmg, meh, I'll take it, ^^.

Poison Breath - Did around 17dmg or so.

So, there you have it. My most recent farming adventure. I had lots of fun, and I'm VERY HAPPY to be amongst the very small community of Blus, with Body Slam pre-75. I'm not an elitist or anything like that, I just like being complete. So, if it's not your cup of tea, don't worry about it (I don't judge people like that). Have fun, and let me know if anyone else comes up with, or has different strategies for defeating the Dahaks in Mount Zhayolm.

Special special thanks, to Ulicia, Kamehameha, Arrode, and Chronus. Thanks for helping me out on such a dangerous task, with nothing but bragging rights (basically), as the reward, /kneel.

Blu OWNS!

K, this is a question for the 75Blus out there. Is it possible to have ALL spells learned by lvl 67 or so? Is that when I should have this thread completed?

w00t Got Stinking Gas this morning after my second Addled Tumor (four tumors total). Little rough to solo, but doable. I would recommend anyone who needs this attack to fight that little bugger. After helping an LS member w/ getting it from the 2 in Garliage, this one is cake in comparison (and I had to tank as a lvll 70 nin for the garliage one, since the rdm wasn't able to w/ a lvl 38 and 58? blu). And well, yeah, 2 mobs are better then one... but those two are so far above the lvl to learn it, it's kinda rediculous.

Now I just need refueling and Jettatura until 50... Might camp the clusters in lufaise... Hope I can kill them:)... Not really worried about the Hippos. Outside of Boost they are kinda sissies:P (I am so going to die for that one).

Got into a group with 2 other BLU (Crimsonghost and Krdr(Spelling)) Anyway we go after a few spells for them, then we spot a Fungar (Evil gleam in my eye). We start to attack it and to my surprise the first TP move it uses is Quesyshroom. Well I one hit it right after it uses the move and guess what...I didn't get it but both the other people in the party did!! ARRRGGG!!!. I got it on the next Fungar though. LOL

Oh and by the way Rule #7 always follow Rule #7!!!

Quote:
(7) Post on the forums about not learning it yet, while you're trying to learn it, and you'll learn shortly there after (Credit goes to Deathpain for this one, it has been proven to increase chances by 99%, :P), lol

Also it seemed to me that, as a group, we learned spells more easily than solo...has anyone else noticed this??

UPDATE 2

God how I [(a) Lothe (b)Hate (c)Dispise (d)All of the Above] the Dunes!!! I needed Cursed Sphere so I decided to go to the Dunes and hook up with a party. After several false starts I get an invite to a decent party and join. At the start I was a BLU lvl14 with 3K + TNL. We are happy beating up on Crabs and Flies (I get Cursed Sphere after about 5 Flies).

Getting good (not great) XP (1.5 to 2K per hour) I get to <300 TNL and 2 members say bye, run off and disband. WTF!!! We now have 4 members with no Tank or Healer and every one else disbands and go their seperate ways. So I head back to Selbina and agro on the way, make it to the zone , mob gets one last hit just as I zone so I end up taking a dirt nap in Selbina. Luckly a kindly WHM was around who raised me. Now I need around 500TNL. Man I hate the dunes!!!

*********************
*********************

Update 3 :

Wow havent updated this in a while. Been leveling my BLU for the past while and seem to have hit a point now when im level 38 that it's nearly impossible for me to find parties. Had the flag up 2 nights in a row (total of 6-8 hours) and never got a invite once. Anyone else notice that?? But the paries I had in the early 30's rocked in one we had 3 BLU and would just Bludgen the stuff into submission. I <3 Bludgen!!!

*********************

NOTE: when I was in E Sarutabaruta I maxed my Blue Magic Skill and went from 1/18-25 to 1/4-8. The numbers also only represent the mobs that actualy USED the move. Actual numbers of mobs killed are about double. Some mobs would use 5 or 6 TP moves other than the ones I was looking for **** Fungars and Spore!!) so I killed them out of spite. ;-)

{Congratulations!} Rfolkker

Rfolkker, if you don't want to lose all your hair, due to stress, I STRONGLY suggest asking a higher level friend to help you with Refueling, by hunting the clusters in Mount Zhayolm. They are right there near the staging point, and plenty there to pull. It's not that difficult either. I had a 75Rdm/Nin friend fight them for me, and three others. We all learned in a fair amount of time (had to wait for the last hume friend to learn before we moved to the next spell). About a 30-45min run in all for four new Blus to learn Refueling.

Thanks for the compliment Remoob. My numbers also represent the amount of times I actually saw the move and learned or didn't learn as well. Although, my actual over all mob counts, are very close to those numbers. I give each mob I pull the chance to use the move. I don't like mass killing, when I can just learn from any mob each time.

I think it's also just some bad luck too though, why your mob counts are so high, ;;. It should've gotten a bit lower after you hit level 10 and such. Keep your blue magic skill capped at all times when trying to learn. I hope your over all count numbers begin to get lower. Usuall, maximum ranges between 10-20 (and thats on some bad runs for me). Well, hope you start to learn faster, and enjoy Blu to the fullest.

Blu owns, :P!

Cool, {Congratulations!} Deathpain, ^^.

I'll be after those two soon myself. Probably see if I can grab them during a Besieged or something maybe. I havn't had a lot of time to get on recently, because I'm in the process of moving so, don't know how all that's going to turn out just yet (still waiting for them to finish building my house, ;;).

I'll be on when I can though, glad to see the good times still rolling for you though, ^^.

Hmmm, you're level 68 now, did you farm Assault Jerkin, or you using something else? I think I'm going to pause at level 67, to farm Assault Jerkin like a mad man until I get it. That way, my Blu and my Drg can take advantage, ^^.

Well, I haven't posted in this thread yet, but here I go now..
I am currently a 55 BLU(god I level slow), and I decided to hunt for my 58 and 60 spells old school style, without AF gloves or body :P
So first spell I decide to go after is {Magic Fruit}, that one was rather quick, soloed roughly 5 opos in Yuhtunga, 1/3 on learning this spell(3 being times saw it used)

Next spell I decide to go after is {Flying Hip Press}, had a friend there to help in case of links, and to help with the higher level bugbears deeper inside of Oldton. Well 30-35mins or so it takes me, killing 10 bugbears or so, and I'm 1/5 on this particular spell.

Now comes the fun part for my last 58 spell, {Light of Penance} I have a friend with me, we're there a few hours, he nearly gets 1 shotted from Everyone's Grudge so we reset hate then go back to more killing. I was about to give up on this spell, and I had a timer of sorts which was if I hadn't gotten it within the last 10 tonberries we'd go for the night(it was like 2-3am), well ironically enough I learn it on the 10th one, the one before we were going to go for the night lol.

60 spells now, ok so {Dimensional Death} was the first, and I got this fairly easily at 55, was helping an LS paladin farm coffer keys in Eldieme, got it on the 2nd Spriggan, gotta love them spamming it ;D

Now for {Death Scissors} ugh scorpions did not want to use this ability lol, I also decided scorpions have way to many TP moves(8 to be exact), anyways I lost count after the 20th scorpion, but only 2 had used {Death Scissors} by the 20th scorpion. So I think I'm there for 4-5 hours, slaughtering scorpions in the Maze, when I learn the spell at 4 am >< Needless to say I was nearly passed out at that time, so I just logged there lol.

But now I have all my spells to last me til 60, including the coveted {Death Scissors}, so now all I need to do is finish subs, level to 58-59, and start working on 61 spells! Joy for me. Anyways that was long, but I had to express my joy of spell learning.

{Congratulations!} Tiael

Way to keep it old school. Lol, I didn't waste any time though. I really wanted to test the AF hands out, so, I'm putting them to work full time. I'm expecting for the learns vs. attempt ratio to significantly drop from my earlier attempts. Hopefully all the numbers on the lower half of my list, are much lower from now on.

To be honest also, I heard that SE made the higher level spells harder to learn since the AF came out. I don't know if it's true, but, based on your experiences that you just told, I'd have to say I think it may be true to some extent. I've thought about doing what you did myself, but, I figured I've already payed my debt in time towards learning spells already, no need to pay more, :P. Keep it up though.

Since you're approaching some of my favorite levels thus far, I'll tell you now. If you're still doing the Sickle Slash Gravitation SC, when you get to the level you can use Eyes on Me, swap in Dark Staff, and you can MB for some serious dmg. I don't know your style of play, but, it's some really nice dmg if you're not /thf doing Spike dmg numbers.
