This was also posted in the forums of my social LS http://z9.invisionfree.com/TUS_ENM_Static/index.php?act=idx (I plan to keep it updated).

Also, newly added is this very very helpful link, by a really good friend of mine (Myriads). More than likely, best Blu spell guide ever. The information here will prove most helpful to you, I GUARANTEE it: http://74.53.42.102/blu/BLUMain.html

I decided to post what lvl, what way, and what spells I learned. Hopefully this will help any up and coming Blus, who can't decide on how, when, or in what way they can learn spells. I use this guide to help me decide on where to go most of the time, http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=16;mid=114538908575406241;num=43;page=1, it's been very helpful to me.

When you take a look at the list, I for one didn't quite understand how I needed to level Blu and learn spells. At first, I was leveling it just like any other job. Thinking I'd just learn spells along the way, but, when I hit level 6 and I didn't have any spells learned yet, I got fustrated and stopped leveling for a bit. Then, after talking with my LS a bit, came up with ideas on how to learn my spells. It was suggested I stop now, and try to pick up some of the early level ones.

Now, I'm a firm believer in, Blus have increased chances of learning if they can try to keep their blue magic skill capped. Also, I try to learn from various mob levels. If the mob is Too Weak, or Easy Prey, I use Hand-to-hand (no weapons). K, well, I no longer do Hand-to-hand anymore, as a friend of mine showed me that using the Event GKT http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=9247, has a shorter delay on it. This is now my weapon of choice for mob TP building. If the mob is Decent Challenge, Even Match, Tough, or higher, I/we just fight it down to a sliver of life, wait for move, then kill quickly.

I never really made it clear (other than parts of the paragraph above) what I think helps with Blu spell learning. So, for anyone interested, here are my SHORT theories....

1) Blu magic skill (important to keep it capped)
2) Your level vs. the spell you're trying to learn level (Be within 30 Blue magic skill points of the spell)
3) Killing the mob QUICKLY after it uses the move needed
4) Don't stun the move (some say stunning it is okay, and you can still learn. You decide)
5) I don't believe in the Azure Lore trick
6) You can learn from NMs, BCNMs, Besieged, Too Weak, Quest Mobs, etc.
7) Post on the forums about not learning it yet, while you're trying to learn it, and you'll learn shortly there after (Credit goes to Ulicia of Phoenix (AKA: Deathpain, her Allakhazam name) for this one, it has been proven to increase chances by 99%, :P), lol

Also keep in mind, when you see Blu hunting party, it doesn't always necessarily mean 6 people. That simply means, more than one person, and the purpose of the party was strictly to learn/hunt spells. Some of these parties consist of multiple Blus needing the same spells, or, just people helping out. Also, even though it may say "Blu Hunting Party," it doesn't mean it can't be soloed. That could just be me going spell hunting with another Blu who needed the spell as well. Try to judge for yourself the ones that do mean you need a party to succeed. I'll try to keep this updated best I can as well...

The positions that I speak of are positions in which I learned my spell (Use this site to get to listed locations with ease: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/). It is very much possible to learn in other positions within the area, just mob level difference, has a chance to be slightly different in terms of difficulty. Position in which to hunt, is strictly a per player preference. There's generally plenty of the same mob types within the general area. The positions listed by me, are the positions where I finally learned the spell, not necessiarily, the only spots I hunted.....

Everyone/Anyone else feel free to join in as well. Enjoy, hope this helps someone, thanks, ^^.

Everything below this, is my actual experience in trying to learn the spells (Though, it's not covering all of them, because, some, were just a cut and dry experience. Nothing too special). Below you will find things such as, what I went through during the process, so you can have a better idea (maybe) of what to expect. It's a lot of reading per spell, but, feel free to read if you want a better understanding of what you're getting yourself into. Starts, around me being level 32 or so. Spell hunting experiences got more interesting around that time...

Level 32

{All right!} I hit level 32 this weekend, then proceeded to to go spell hunting once again.

In about 3.5-4hrs. of farming I managed to walk away with....

Chaotic eye
Sound Blast
Smite of Rage
Digest
Death Ray
Jet Stream
Uppercut

Man, talk about having some fun, and feeling well rewarded afterwards, lol, BLU rules!

K, havn't read Tanthalas's post yet, so, I'll comment when I get back (just getting in for work).

Like I said yesterday, I was going to go home and get pinecomb bomb first thing. Well, I did, and it only took me 3hrs. to get it, ;;. That's the longest any spell has ever taken me since not having any spells at all, but anyway, I have it now, ^^.

After soloing a bit, I just asked some Blus that were in the area, if they wanted to join (some friends came out to help earlier, but had to leave).

Level 37

Mysterious Light & Terror Touch

I'm now level 39. I planned on waiting until 39 or so to get these two spells, but I didn't. I went at level 37.

I recommend (not needed though) that you bring a Whm (main), or a /whm that can cast cursna on you during the hunt for these two spells. At 37, you can EASILY solo either one of these, but, having Cursna casted on you when farming Terror Touch, is invaluable. I'd also say, having the Whm remove Mysterious Light, is invaluable as well.

IMO, soloing Mysterious Light is easier, since the pots can be easily camped with no aggro. Terror Touch, you may get a bit of aggro, but nothing you can't handle.

At first, it was taking me a while to learn these spells. So, I switched to an old method I used to use. I ended up doing the "beat down to a sliver of life, then just wait for the move. AS SOON as the move is used on you, kill instantly" method, and learned both moves 1/1 doing so, o.0. Don't know if that made a difference, but it certainly worked. Another Blu, and a Whm were still with me when I learned Terror Touch, and I was solo when I actually learned Mysterious Light. Happy Hunting, ^^.

Thanks for more and more info. everyone. I stay watching this thread very closely, and learn from it constantly.

Level 42 (Just returning from meritting Str & MP to full)

K, so, yesterday was my first day back on Blu in a while. Glad it wasn't bad at all. I picked up MP Drainkiss, Geist Wall, and Venom Shell.

MP Drainkiss - Glad it gave me credit for all the ones I fought before I paused my leveling. Gave it to me on my second one, ^^. I tried to learn from Qufim Island leeches, was like, 0/26 so far. Then, since the warp Taru was gone from Al Zhabi, I Tele-Mea(ed) myself, switch jobs in Windy, then, was going back to Qufim, but figured I could learn three spells if I just went to B. Peninsula, then swinging over to B. Bay, and P. Isle afterwards.

Venom Shell - Okay, a lot of people may hate me for saying this, but, I'm going to. Sorry, all the talk about "You can't solo this at 42" is a bunch of crap. I went expecting this to be some really hard battle. I was Blu/Whm, and it was nothing. Spam poisona, bludgeon when he comes out, dia, wild oats, and poison breath. "If" you come /whm, instead of loading up on some antidotes, load up on some MP drinks so you won't be caught AFTER the fight with too little MP to cast poisona. This got me once. I won the fight, but died because of low MP and no antidotes. Came back with drinks and antidotes, got it on second mob, and sold the antidotes on AH (didn't use any of them).

Geist Wall - Not much to tell here. Got it on second one. Fought the ones near the docks waiting on the manaclipper to come.

I'm STILL enjoying Blu very much, ^^.

Level 43

Wooot!!!!!

I HAD AN INCREDIBLE WEEKEND on Blu. Starting from Friday, I learned, MP Drainkiss, Venom Shell, Stinking Gas, Blitzrahl, Mandibular Bite, Awful Eye, Geist Wall, Magnetite Cloud, Jettataru, Sickle Slash, AND Blood Saber, ^^.

I would've tried for Refueling during the Jettataru run, but, I forgot you need a scale to get to the clusters in Riverne A. So, do to me running out of time, I was unable to go through with all that. Now, I'm waiting for LS help to get Refueling from clusters in Mount Zhaloym(sp). I was informed it's easier, and quicker to get it from there instead. I'll let you guys know how that goes. Once I get that, I'll have all I need to xp from 43-49 non-stop, AND have all spells, ^^.

Blu owns, keep up the good work everyone, I'll update original post as well (as promised).

It gets easier as you go along, because, as you go along, your blue magic skills keep increasing. I've found (my opinion) the higher the skill, the quicker/better chance you have at learning.

By the way, I learned Refueling yesterday as well. It took two mobs, but, the first didn't use. When the second mob used it, I learned it. I'm all set to go str8 to 49-50 (probably 49, I usually have my spells learned before I hit the level).

Level 48

Recently hit level 48, and I LOVE IT (Sickle Slash & Refueling)! I can't appreciate the dark based magic burst spells like I wanted to, because we were fighting bats in Garliage Citadel, so, they didn't do much at all. I'm not taking anything away from those spells, because, I know it's just because the bats are dark based themselves, and have a HIGH resistance to dark based spells.

Yes sir! Three more spells down, (Ice Break, Self-Destruct, & Frightful Roar), :) .

Ice Break - wasn't bad really. I decided to bypass the ones in Glacier, ONLY because they are spread out (5 spawn points). I opted for the ones in Fei'Yin. Not too much of a better choice, since the ones in there are surrounded by mobs that'll aggro you by sound. Just have to be patient, and wait for safe pulling opportunities.

Self-Destruct - Man, I had heard about this one, and was hoping that I wouldn't become a statistic in taking forever to learn this one. I decided to try my hand in Gusgen Mines (Spunkie = Bomb). I WAS JUST ABOUT TO LEAVE. I was 0/9. I said, okay, if I don't learn on this next one, I'm going to try a place with higher level bombs. What do you know, I learned on the 10th one, :) . I was so glad I didn't have to go and learn from much higher ones, and risk death for me, and whoever else would've helped.

Frightful Roar - Well, I went there with every intention on soloing this. I loaded up on Persiko's Au Laits, and Yag Drinks, but, just like the last time I went to Sacrarium to farm Codexes from these, there's always competition. When I got there, there was a Bst farming Codexes. Instead of competing, I just asked could we team up. He said okay (Thanks Epincus). Wasn't too bad since the Tauruses just spammed TP on the pet hecteyes he was charming. Once it used the move, I joined in the battle to kill it quickly. The two spawn points near the entrance are on a 16min timer (The Bst taught me that). Although, I could've sworn it felt like a 10min timer to me, but anyway.

Now, I'm thinking about going for the level 52 spells, but, may wait until I level a bit more. Keep at it everyone, it's worth it, :) .

Level 50

{All Right!} so, I set out to learn Cold Wave and Filamented Hold. IMO, the best place to solo this is in the furthest NW tower in B. Glacier. It's the uncapped Pso'Xja zone, but, you can find two Diremites, and two Snolls right near the entrance (you can zone "if" you need to). At level 50, both of these mobs con as easy prey.

Cold Wave - Proved not to be a problem. I learned that farily quickly (1/2 to be exact). Ummm, so, yeah, not much to say about that. I didn't even have the problem of having to stun the "self-Destruct" move they use.

Filamented Hold - Thus far, I'm 0/9. Filamented hold sucks to "try" and learn, because, once they use it on you, there's nothing you can do about it if you don't have erase available to you (whether you use it somehow, or someone else casting it on you). Even haste casted on you from a level 75 won't reverse the effects. So, I'm still going at it. I'll continue trying this coming Thurs, and I'll post results.

{Filamented Hold} {mine}

I logged on (since I logged out in Pso'Xja) and got it in the first two kills, ^^.

Blu power!!!

Level 53

Woot! Alright, I had a VERY successful spell hunting session last night...

Hecatomb Wave - Met up with a Blu friend of mine, and tackled this spell really quickly. Tele-Vahzl, ran to a camp just north of the crystal. Mobs were Decent Challanges to me, and Even Matches to my friend. Fights were easy. People should have no problems with this one.

Radiant Breath - Woot! The reason I was so excited to update my thread today. I DID NOT have to level past 54 to get it, ^^. I'm still 3k TNL to 54 at the moment. I gathered together some people yesterday, and we knocked it down. Turned out WAY more successful than I planned. Originally, it was me and two other Blus. One of them didn't have R. #B01 access, ;;. That sucked. What sucked worse, was when we recruited a random Nin out there soloing (He was soloing in #A01. We were there helping a friend of mine learn Jettataru). The Nin agreed to help us in R. #B01, but, just as everyone gathered to go in, he ditched us, ;;. I got a little doubtful when he left, but, wanted to stick with it. I did a /sea 50-54 all Blu. I saw some avaialable, but, only 1 responded. Then, I just knew a few Blu friends who needed it from before, and hoped they still did. Anyway, they did, and we ended up having a 5 Blu party. The 5 of us went in. I asked that EVERYONE equip Healing Breeze (just in case). Then, we all selected enfeebling spells that another person didn't have equipped, so we could maximize crippling these wyverns. Also, we planned to Head Butt spam (of course, I mean, that was kinda already understood). Of course, trying not to Head Butt Radiant Breath as well. Now, the actual fights......LMAO, Wyvern vs. 5 Blus? What a joke. We didn't know what to expect, so, the first fight no one held back. The Wyvern died in about 35sec. It was crazy. He didn't even get a chance to do much of anything at all. Anyway, long story short, get some Blus together (who all have R. #B01 access), and go raid the place. Nothing there will be able to contain you all. A total of 5 of us set out to learn together, and a total of 5 of us walked away with our brand new shiny Radiant Breath Spell. We had a great time. Took about an hour or so for the 5th and last member to learn. He was JP too, ^^. I was glad to help out. On a side note, if you recruit any members who still need Jettataru and/or Feather Barrier, there are some Hippogryphs and G. Birds in the area as well. Some members still needed those, and between waiting for all the repops (we were killing them so fast), we pulled some of those to help them as well.

Feather Barrier - These have crazy potential to be rough on the soloer. It can be done, but, don't take any caution on these. If you decide to solo it, go old school on them. Beat them down to about 1-2% HP left "if" you want to take your time to let it use the move. Playing around with these TOO long can be fatal for you in the end if you're not careful. Triple attack, just isn't your friend. Still, they use Feather Barrier often, so, it's not a problem. Also, for those that don't know, these do have MP for you to drain. I was informed later on in this thread, that, had someone known that on their adventure, they wouldn't have had such a rough experience.

{All Right} (yes, I'm still a little excited) I'm still on my path to 75 "hopefully" complete all the way. I'm almost 90-95% sure I'm going to hit 75 without learning Body Slam on time, or even by that point. That's probably the only spell I'm more than willing to pass up during my process. It seems even 10 times harder to attain than Radiant Breath, as I was told I wouldn't even get Radiant Breath on time (Proved you people on my server wrong). Good luck, and keep at it everyone (updating OP now).

Oh yeah.......Blu owns, :P

Level 57

I didn't get to play as much as I would've liked this weekend, so, not much to report/update. I'm currently 0/5 on Magic Fruit, and I logged out right where I'm farming. I hope Light of Penance & Flying Hip Press go smoothly for me. I'm also thinking of farming the lvl 60 spells as well.

Oh yeah, another good spell hunting trip for me, ^^......

Magic Fruit - As I said, I logged out here, so, I just picked up where I left off. What do you know, appearing right in front of me, was an Opo-Opo, ^^. Didn't learn, -_-, but, I did learn on the next one right after, ^^. So, off to a good start so far. I'm in the jungles already, so, no need to leave. I waltz on over to Yhoater while I'm out here.....

Light of Penance - After arriving, I ran in the direction of the Temple. Well, I checked a few Tonberries on my way there, and they didn't seem like they'd be that bad. So, instead of going all the way to the temple, I decided to mess around with some in these tunnels I kept running through. Woot, in and out deal, 1/1. I was like, uhhhhh, okay, thanks, ^^. It's been about 25min since I've been on the game now. What should I do?....

Flying Hip Press - Back in Al Zhabi now, I'm shouting for Teleport-Dem. I see a whm actually casting it while I'm shouting it, and he was alone. He cancels the casting with a /heal, sends me an invite, and off we go. I'm very UNFAMILIAR with Olton/Newton Movalpolos. I don't know where anything is. Matter of fact, I've only been here twice. Once when it was first added in the update, just to see what it was like a little bit, and the other was for the COP missions. So, I don't know where the Bugbears are at all. I'm running around and around. I finally run into someone, so, I ask for help on where to find them (which direction and such). She tells me to go North, which is kinda the direction I had just come from, but, I think meh, maybe I just over looked them (kinda hard to over look a Bugbear I think though). Turns out, it was completely the wrong direction (that really wasn't nice). I came back to where she was, and kept going passed her in the direction I "was" going the first time. What do you know, a Bugbear was only 3-4 seconds away from me the whole time, ;;. Anyway, I pull, I fight, I kill, I learn, I rejoice, I warp, ^^.

So far so good eh? Should I stop while I'm ahead? Hmmmm....

Death Scissors - Al Zhabi again, /sh Teleport-Mea time. I see a whm I know, and she Teles me (thanks Ayasu). I'm in the maze now, and there's plenty plenty scorpions here. This was great. I didn't know that scorpions had so many moves though, yeesh. I was like, wow! No problems here, nothing much to tell. Go there, learn it, and be on your way....

Dimensional Death - Okay, ready to do what you wish you could do during ALL spell hunting runs. This and Venom Shell, has had to be my favorite spells to farm thus far (maybe except for the excitement of farming Capped zone spells, I had a blast doing those too). The reason I liked farming Dimensional Death and Venom Shell, was because, you didn't have to use the "Weak weapon to help the mob build TP" method. No, against these, you can just fight/beat them like they stole something. I don't mean spam them with Blu spells (You'll kill them too fast if you do, :P), but, a few spells here and there wouldn't hurt, but, I meant being able to just use your primary weapon. The reason, is because, (in my case) they will ALWAYS use Dimensional Death. Someone said it in another forum as well, but, I think this is THE only TP move they ever use/have. So, needless to say, this trip was cut short quickly. Every fight is a chance to learn.

Eyes On Me - Out of all the hunts today, next to the Tonberries, this one had to be the most dangerous.......lol, YEAH RIGHT, I'M A BLU, :P. Anyway, these do try everything they have to kill you, but, it doesn't help. Just wait for the move. There's plenty eyes around the glacier. More so towards/around the Xarcabard zoning area (just the REGION near it, not right exactly at it). Shouldn't be too much trouble. They used the move pretty frequent, it's just, they have a lot of moves to use though, so, it's not exactly always going to be quick fights (If you're like me, I wait until every pull/enemy uses the desired move before I kill it 95% of the time).

Well, that was my adventure yesterday. I'm currently hunting Bad Breath (0/3) and Maelstrom (0/1). That hunting trip took about 3hrs. (that's including travel time). Take the travel time away, and it was more like 1.5 hrs. or so. I had a great time, and will update once again as I gain some more levels (The level 62 spells are approaching, ;;). I'm not looking forward to farming those at all. As I've not heard good things from those farming trips yet, /sigh.

Oh, almost forgot...

Blu owns, ^^

Level 58

Also, no big story here for these two. I learned Bad Breath and Maelstrom as well when I logged on Sat. Went 1/1 on each that morning (I was 0/3 on Bad Breath and 0/1 on Maelstrom the previous log in).

Feather Tickle - This one, I don't have a count of. I learned it during an xp party in Bhaflau Thickets. Although, I do think I learned it within the first 10 pulls after I gained level 58. I "think" that you can't learn it at lvl 57. I say that, because, I've been xping on Colibris for a while now, so, just an observation I made for myself.

Level 61

Short update for me..

Yawn - I learned Yawn almost instantly on the boat to Nashmau. Just a note though, throughout my whole Blu career since level 1, this is the VERY FIRST spell that I learned that didn't show up in my chat log. I'm not sure why, but, that is how it happened.

1000 Needles - Wasn't too bad of a hunt. USUALLY I see sabotenders running around rampid. Of course, the day I decide to hunt, they were all hiding. Made sure to bring at least NPC, or hunt as /smn. I went with NPC. Then, a friend came out to help as well, which basically made 1000 Needles worthless against us. Before he came out, I was still doing fine. 500dmg didn't really effect the fights too much at all.

Also, sucks to say, but, WITH my AF hands on, currently I'm 0/12 on Memento Mori, ;;. I really wanted to get this one, since, it's the last spell that's REALLY far out in some unfamiliar territory for me. Anyway, I'll be trying again when/if I can get help for it again.

At the moment I'm 0/12 on Memento Mori (with AF hands). I think I'm bothered by this, mostly because I have AF hands. If I didn't have AF hands, it probably wouldn't bother me at all, but, oh well.

Good luck, I really hope you enjoy leveling Blu as much as I have up to this point. I'm actually still liking Blu more and more as I go along (it doesn't stop being fun). Keep it up!

Level 62

I had an okay learning session this past Sat.

Hydro Shot - Too Weak Sahagins near the lakes before the tunnel heading to Sea Serpent Grotto. No story to tell here really.

Infrasonics - Since I was just going to run back to Khazam, I figured, might as well kill a few lizards on the way. Next thing I know...I learned Infrasonics, ^^.

Frypan - Too Weak Moblins in Oldton Movalpolos. I never really fought these guys much. He had a lot of cool moves I had never seen though, ^^.

Well, I just had a lot of fun recently. Good parties back to back to back. I'm now lvl 63, but, it looks like my fun will have to come to a hault now. I'm at the point, where I've soloed all the spells I can solo (with the exception of Heat Breath and Ram Charge, which I can solo around the level I can learn/use it). I really just wanted to keep on this xp trend I was having, but, now, I'm at a need for some spells I REALLY want. From now on though, I'll require help to learn spells, which, isn't always easy to come by, or grabbing what I can from Besiged as well (I have yet to learn anything there, ;;). Right now, I need...

Memento Mori
Frenetic Rip
Spinal Cleave
Voracious Trunk

So, basically, I'll be sitting at level 63 for a while, because, I want to experience Frenetic Rip to the fullest. Anyway, hopefully I'll be back on the road to 75, and getting help for these won't take as long as I'm thinking.

Level 63 (HUGE amount of spells learned here)

Warning, this will probably be a long post....

Okay, so, the other day, I stated, I'd be stuck on level 63 for a while. I really didn't plan on leveling much more, until I learned Memento Mori, Frenetic Rip, Spinal Cleave, and Voracious Trunk. My whole Blu career, I've been consistent with my spell learning. I don't like to keep going, without knowing ALL my spells if possible. I logged on yesterday. I told my LS, I was determined to learn these spells, TODAY! I plan to do whatever it takes to get it done and over with. I feel, I have too many friends in this game, to actually be stuck on something. Especially something like this.

Here's the off-topic funny part of this post (It is relevant, but skip if you don't want to read).

During my shouting sessions, I get a familiar /tell from a friend of mine. This same friend (Ulicia), is someone that I became friends with, strictly via /tells. I don't know how she heard of me, or where, but, she just sent me a /tell one day when she first started leveling Blu. I spoke with her for while, answering any/all questions she had. She was very polite. After about a week of back and forth /tells randomly, we added each other to our friend's list. I told her way back then, due to my in-game playing time, I'd be coming to her for help sooner or later. She laughed, and we continued on. Low and behold, the one person who made time to help me yesterday, was none other, than my friend Ulicia. She's since passed me in levels, and was willing to help me, now that I was the one in need (I'm so glad I wasn't mean to her like some people are who receive random /tells from people who need genuine help, or really just have some questions they feel YOU can help them with). Now, we get things started (5 Blus hunting/needing various spells)...

Frenetic Rip - Oh yeah! Finally, I have this AWESOME spell. Man, I REALLY hated being level 63 and not having this spell, ><. I was so mad at myself, but, doesn't matter anymore, ^^. I have it now, and it's awesome. 300+dmg each time so far, with 407dmg being my high. I just casting it randomly just to see it. Didn't set it up or anything, so, those numbers will change.

Sandspray - During the Frenetic Rip hunt, we decided to kill some stuff while roaming the area looking for more Imps. Since we were at the cemetary part of Caedarva Mire, we decided to take some Quirins as well (I mean, it wouldn't hurt anything). Woot, got it! Wasn't even part of the planned run, but, ok, I'll take it, ^^.

Spinal Cleave - Very nice move. I like fighting Qutrubs anyway (Makes everyone's E-peen just a little bit bigger, lol). Now, EVERYONE who came has learned. I'm the only one left (felt bad). I was the one slowing things down it seemed, ;;. After a few looks (on these not easiest mobs in the world), one of the other Blus suggested I wear her +Chr gear. I said, okay, sure, I mean, nothing else is working, so why not? Well, I learn on the very next Spinal Cleave used. Thank you for that, BUT, I'm still not a believer. Do I think I would've learned on that next one either way? Yes, I do, but, fact is fact, I did learn that with the +Chr gear on, nothing can change that. As you keep reading though, pay attention to the summary in the end, to see why my viewpoint on it, still hasn't changed.

Diamondhide/Enervation - Well, after the Spinal Cleave hunt, some of the higher level help that came along was rotated out. The new helpers didn't want to go for Memento Mori next, as we had planned, so, that got put off for the time being, ;;. They were willing to help with some spells that Ulicia needed more so. Oh well, that's fine. I mean, she is the main one volunteering to help me so, I can still help her as well. Once again, some of the others have learned some stuff, but I havn't yet. Were going and going, BOOM, GOT IT! (/em busts a move). Now, I'm right in line with the others. Fighting both types of Trolls, some learning Diamondhide, and some learning Enervation, but, no one learning both yet. Still, I still felt left out, because I was like the 4th or so to learn, ;;. Well, we had been at it for a while now, and the tank said he had about another 45min or so left. No one had yet learned both moves but, we didn't want to miss out hunting more/other spells, and decided to move on and attempt Voracious Trunk (since it's in the same zone). Leaving camp, the tank gets aggroed, so, we end up having to fight one more Troll. BAM, Enervation is mine, woot!

Voracious Trunk - Wow, this is the first time I've ever fought one of these things. I've done lots of reading on them though, so, I knew about the Chigoe spawnings. What I didn't know though, was the INCREDIBLE def these guys have, yikes! Camping these is similar to camping the mobs for Venom Shell. There's no worries on whether they'll use the move of not, they spam it. You don't have to hold back or anything (you're not going to kill these quickly, lol). Yep, you know it, Voracious Trunk, mine, ^^! Afterwards, I went and changed to my 75Nin, and we smoked like two more right after that, with everyone learning who needed it by that point (The tank we had at the time was lvl 72). When I got there, with two Nins on it, they went down much much faster.

That was it for my run last night, ^^. I plan to meet up with Ulicia to farm Memento Mori, and Frost Breath this upcoming Thurs. On the whole +Chr issue. The reason I'm still not a believer, is because, by the END of the night, I had learned the most spells out of the whole group (60Blu, 62Blu, 63Blu(me), 66Blu, 68Blu). No one else learned Sandspray (in the short time we farmed it), and no one else learned both Troll moves either. That's why, I do believe in the AF hands (to an EXTENT, /stare SE), but not in Azure Lore, or +Chr theories. My own methods, still seem to stand firm for me (+Blu skill, AF hands, and quick kills after move usage). None of it can be proven fact, other than me telling you guys my experiences. Good luck to all, and I'm free of the "stuck at level 63" curse now, ^^. I'm free to level for a few more levels, knowing that I STILL have all spells now, ^^ (minus Body Slam, -_-).

Woot, fun for me restored!....Blu owns, ^^

{All Right!} Update time....

Also, for those that don't know, my thread has been added to the "Blue Mage forum Index Guide Compilation," http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fj...5;num=53;page=1, found in the stickies, ^^.

Set out to finish up my spell hunting for the next few levels (little did I know how complete my list would actually be, ^^). Posted from beginning to end, in order....

Memento Mori - FINALLY I've learned this spell. Geez, only took me 14 tries. I suggest NOT to farm the ARCH TYPE Corse mobs. These are doable, but far more hassel than a farming trip is worth. Instead, camp at (F-8) http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/nav/?act=show&id=attohwa_chasm. There's more than one way to get to the area I'm about to describe, and for the sake of arguing, I won't post the ONE way I know. You need to reach the top left corner of (F-8), or top right corner of (E-8), somewhere right around there. There's a black smoke here, between two rocks. It's not a very large smoke. Eventually it will disappear. Just be patient. When it goes down, just find a nice safe camp (I camped around the top right corner of (F-9). Then, wait until 20:00-4:00. There's plenty plenty lower levels Corses that spawn here (I think Cipati spawns here as well). These can be duoed/trioed. Be careful though, these mobs do Charm the person with the most hate. At that point, it's a good idea to sleep quickly (most of the time, that person is the helper you brung along). Charmed 75mnk? {No Thanks}. As far as seeing the move, no worries. Like many other mobs at these levels, they use the move often. Usually, somwhere around 1-1.5times a fight (usually kill quickly after usage). In times where fights lasted a bit, using it twice wasn't a rare sighting.

Frost Breath - AT FIRST this spell looked like it was going to be a problem for us. The first Raptor we pulled, didn't use Frost Breath at all. Seemed like it was going to be a rough one to learn, because, it used a ton of other moves (Scythe Tail at least 50 times). Turns out though, that first Raptor was just a fluke. After that, each Raptor used Frost Breath at least 2 times per fight. Not much to tell, because both Blus involved learned quickly (Not difficult fights at all either).

Body Slam - That's right, Body Slam. I'm a new proud owner of this spell at level 63 *flexes*, and my friend Ulicia level 67. Okay, here we go. First off, we knew we were going the Smn route. I also advise, whoever can spare it, come /Nin. Body Slam only takes down 2 shadows. If it can be spared, even the Smns can /Nin, and let the Blus heal (if they can trust them that well). Blus can definitely /Nin, thereby assuring there safety while zoning in and out (I'll explain later).....

Plan A, basically involving the Taru Smn (Kamehameha) soloing. That actually was working fine, but, any mistake at all, would prove fatal for the Smn. Lots of risk involved, but doable. Though we never actually killed any going this route, I know it can be done. Several attempts, kept getting it to about 10-15% HP, but, then something would happen and result in our loss, ;;.

Plan B, was pretty much like plan A, but, we had a Rng with us. Since camp is SO close to the zone (When you get to where the Dahaks are, you'll know where we camped, just inside the zone), the Rng decided to spam some Zerg dmg on the mob, then, just head for the zone. This sped the dmg up A LOT (Barrage 576dmg, Slugshot for 550dmg, then zone). Still, in the end, wasn't enough. A little closer this time, but, around 5-10% HP mark, turmoil ensued. Now, time to pull out the big guns. No more messing around now. I call in more Smn reinforcements. Two more show up (Arrode and Chronus). Now, there are 5 of us (The Mnk from earlier, changed to the current Rng we had, who needed to leave now). So now it's (Me 63Blu, Ulicia 67Blu, Kamehameha 75Smn, Arrode 75Smn, and Chronus 75Smn).

Plan C now, Kamehameha informed the other two Smns as what was to come. If you've never been here before, or fought these, you really don't know. It's not just your average shadow dragon fight. The first fight, still resulted in a loss, but, that was just because it was new to everyone, so, didn't know what all to do exactly. Ha ha, but that all changed (experience is sometimes the best teacher). Every fight after that one....OWNED! Those mobs CAN NOT mess with three 75 Smns. Especially good ones (Yeah, that was my shout out to you three, ^^). Now, it was just a matter of time in waiting to learn. I strongly advise Smns to kite kill. Every attempt at using BPs during the fight, proved VERY risky, and dangerous. If you really want to BP, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, be very careful. The Smn grabs a lot of hate, just for using a BP, and sometimes proved fatal, or near fatal (Except for finishing blow BPs). Now that the strategy is down pact, here's the Blu's role in all this (Yes, you can help out):

Just be supportive. The Smns can heal themselves, but, they're doing so much as is, it wouldn't hurt to help out. Use the zerg strategy from before. Toss a couple Magic Fruits, and zone if you get hate. You can avoid hate by casting out of range. Also, if you want to do some dmg, after a few experiments, we found some spells that helped and performed well.

(Ulicia, 67Blu)

Frost Breath - Did GREAT dmg when unresisted. Average somewhere around 400-430dmg or so I believe.

1000 Needles - Leave this one alone.

I forget what all her other numbers did, because, eventually, she started casting Frost Breath only, and then healing and zoning with me.

(Nicest, 63Blu)

Mysterious Light - was well rejoiced from the Smns. It stuck every cast with no resists (not saying that it won't get resisted, just saying mine didn't).

Bad Breath - landed once, unresisted for 141dmg. Only around 30-50dmg every time there after. Some debuffs took place as well, although, I can't say which.

1000 Needles - Ummmm, leave that alone. 0% landed.

Magnetite Cloud - I just figured, might as well. It did less dmg than Mysterious Light, but, was still gravity effective.

Radiant Breath - Bascially, another breath spell. Doing dmg anyway possible, so 30-50dmg, meh, I'll take it, ^^.

Poison Breath - Did around 17dmg or so.

So, there you have it. My most recent farming adventure. I had lots of fun, and I'm VERY HAPPY to be amongst the very small community of Blus, with Body Slam pre-75. I'm not an elitist or anything like that, I just like being complete. So, if it's not your cup of tea, don't worry about it (I don't judge people like that). Have fun, and let me know if anyone else comes up with, or has different strategies for defeating the Dahaks in Mount Zhayolm.

Special special thanks, to Ulicia, Kamehameha, Arrode, and Chronus. Thanks for helping me out on such a dangerous task, with nothing but bragging rights (basically), as the reward, /kneel.

Blu OWNS!

Level 67

Okay, feels good to be back on Blu again.

At first, it was me and two others (Ulicia & Zeratu)

Warm-Up/Firespit - I decided to target Mamool Jas in Wajoom Woodlands. As far as I knew, they were the weakest ones to target. These were located around (D-12) entrance to Mamook. You can find the Brown and Blue ones here. We camped in the tunnel, just in case we needed a quick zone. Me and Zeratu (Mnk) duoed a few of them before Ulicia arrived. After Ulicia got there, and the mobs used the moves, I learned them instantly, . Ulicia = +99% learn rate? I don't know, you tell me, o.0.

After that, Ulicia & Zeratu had prior engagements they needed to attend, so, I was off seeking more help again. I was about to go xping, but, then, I did a /sea 65-70 all Blu, to see if other Blus were in the mood to do some spell hunting. Well well, what do you know, I was right....

Nicest (67Blu)
Ergoth (70Blu)?
Warhawk (71Blu)
Tarious (75rdm)
Blkkntdave (75War)
Yshtar (74Whm)
Coud (Crap, I forgot, ;;)

Hysteric Barrage/Tail Slap - We headed out to Caedarva Mire. Just as before, figuring those are the weakest Lamias around. Not too bad. Didn't have many issues with breaking the weapon at all. I didn't learn on first use, but, also noticed, I didn't have AF hands on. Equipped AF hands, and learned right after. Then, we went to Arrapago Reef, and camped the first Merrow that appears on the boat where the ??? for Pup quest is. I went 1/1 on that one, so, lol, no real story to tell there, ^^.

(New group now)

Lots of walking for this one, but, very smooth overall. I had a lvl 75Rdm with (Hanyoko) who made everything easy as crap for both spells (also had a lvl 70 Blu with me, just helping out, didn't need either spell).

Cannonball - As always, trying to target the lowest level I can to make things easier. We head to Halvung via a entrance from Mount Zhayolm. Use the same entrance to Halvung as you did when heading for the NM Flan BCNM for your AF. There is one Wamoura right at the entrance. Then, there's another one right at the exit back into Mount Zhayolm just across the way. Basically, the Rdm chain nuked it (not chainspell) to around 40-50%. Then, we all melee it until it uses Cannonball. I basically just helped by spamming stuns, and healing the Rdm when needed. During the meleeing parts, I equipped Foot Kick and Power Attack, to spam for TP feeding. That worked out very well. The Rdm spammed Dia over and over. Both camps are right near a zone if anything should happen to go wrong.

Amplification - This (to me) was easier than getting Cannonball. These are Blm type mobs. I don't remember if they could be silenced or not. I think a Rdm main can silence it, but, I failed to pay attention, because the fights just weren't as hard as we had assumed they were going to be. ANY big spell he tried to cast, was stunned by me or the other Blu. I had Head Butt, Frypan, and Blitzrahl equipped, just in case. I can only remember one instance, where, I needed to use Head Butt AND Frypan. As for the location, going to try and GUESS based off of my memory, so, don't get mad at me if I'm a little off. (H-9) has two near the gate, and (G-10) has two more near that gate as well. There's probably more around, but, I learned mine before we needed to move anymore. You can safely camp, right at the gates.

Good luck to you.....

Blu owns, ^^

Phew, okay, will update as I continue on my journey to 94/94 spells. Thus far, list is 100%!

Level 70

{All Right!} Another Spell hunting trip gone VERY well. This hunt took place, shortly on Saturday, then for the most part of Sunday. For these spells (all but one of them), I had people with me, but, you can solo some of these with no problem at all. Since I was told other wise, and was unsure, I didn't want to have to backtrack at all, so, I asked LS members/friends to help out.

Started on Sat.....

Lowing - These are found RIGHT down the first hill on your left hand side after zoning into Uleguerand Range. Even if you don't have a map, it's not hard to find. The Buffalos were Easy Prey to me (70Blu). I had my NPC out, as well as two others with me, thinking we were about to get into a big battle or something.......lol, NOT! Just go beat these down. You should have no problems out of these.

Heat Breath - Much like Lowing. These were Easy Prey to me as well. I fought the Manticores outside of Kuftal Tunnel zone. Just go beat these down. Should have no problems at all.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART.......SEA!!!!

I havn't been back here in SO LONG. Ever since I completed my missions and such. Since then, I've just been leveling my jobs, and enjoying my Rajas Ring. Man, the second I stepped foot in there again, I had COMPLETELY forgotten how beautiful this zone is. I was just really glad to be back there for a moment. One HUGE benefit about farming the {sea} spells, is that they are all RIGHT by each other. Please, this may help you too...http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Category:Blue_Magic. I used that to guide me through {sea} hunting. It provides you with all the spells you need, and what mobs to learn them from. The mobs in {sea} aren't all that easy to remember (name wise), so, everyone has many different nicknames for what they really are (ex. Goldfish, Shark, UFO, etc.). No more than a few seconds walk apart. These mobs generally have two levels of each, which are very different in terms of difficulty level (Ul' and Om'). The Om' mobs are harder than the Ul' mobs. The difference is very noticable. Also, if you happen to have a Smn friend helping you out, tell them to NOT WALK AROUND WITH AN AVATAR OUT. There are certain mobs, that will aggro you, but won't attack you unless you harm their HP. If an Avatar is out, they will attack the mob, as it does aggro you, just not attack. Having Soporific and Geist Wall equipped will be very useful throughout the rest of this hunt as well (Also, some Reraise items. This isn't the place you want to die, and not have a way to be raised). Mobs inside the palace don't hardly aggro. You need to be aware, of which mobs do what (Pots (zdei) aggro, and Ghrahs in bird form aggro, I know that much). Okay okay, after I had my sightseeing enjoyment again, it was back to business.....

Listed in the order I learned
Actinic Burst - (Ghrah mobs) We started on the mobs inside the palace first. I was under the impression that these were the harder ones to learn. These can change forms. They are only non-aggro when they are in the ball form. They tended to use Actinic Burst pretty often so, you shouldn't have any trouble there. These are however one of the worst mobs you need to fight. If not stunned properly, can kill you and your party. They use Ancient Magic (good job, ^^), and ~ga spells. Obviously, the ~ga spells are the real threat here. I duoed them fine with a Nin, and/or with a Thf (level 75 of course). These are IT to me (70Blu).

Temporal Shift - (Hpemde mobs) Easy easy easy. I think I could've soloed these, but, since people were with me, it's questionable. These are Even Match/Tough to me (70blu). They don't do anything all that damaging. (For those who havn't been to {sea} before, these will aggro you all the time, but, won't ever attack. Lol, that's right, that's just their behavior. They will only attack if you do something to them that damages their HP. You can cast enfeebles on them and everything (even sleep), just as long as you don't dmg their HP. Anyway, this is one of the easiest spells to try to learn. Easy mobs, easy fights, plenty to pick from.

Plasma Charge - (Phuabo mobs) Lol, I love these mobs. They are found under the water. You also, can not target them either until they've already aggroed someone. These are also one of the coolest looking mobs in the game as well. These aggro you when you run over top of them (or in the proximity at least). They jump up from under the water, and then the fight begins. Plasma Charge has been used by every single one of these I've ever fought (Before Blu even came out). It's not always spammed like that, but, that's just my experience. Plasma Charge sucks though (Not the spell itself, I havn't used it, I mean, when you're going up against it). It gives them Shock Spikes so, PLEASE have some way of dispelling this. If not, you'll be looking at a VERY long fight (My Geist Wall did well, so, you should be ok, just remember to equip it). You can probably solo these once you're 75, but, I wouldn't suggest trying too much sooner than that.

Saline Coat - (Xzomit mobs) These are just like the Hpemde mobs from earlier. These don't aggro though. Difference is, these mobs need to be pulled a bit differently. They usually travel in a school of three. What you want to do is, wait until they go by, and pull the one in the back of the line. If you pull any other one, they will link. These aren't hard at all (speaking about the little ones). They use lots of moves, but, lots of them are defensive moves, or self buffs. They have some offensive moves of course, but, they tend to defend a lot (at least in my experience). Go beat these down a few times, and take home your brand new "coat" ^^.

Disseverment - (Aern mobs) Okay, these pose potential to cause deaths as well. These mobs are awesome. They come in many many different styles. The weapon they draw, lets you know what job they are. You're looking to kill the ones that draw a {Dagger} out (Blm, Brd, Thf types). All the others, you can kill freely, or, you can sleep and then zone. Two zones are really close by once you enter {sea}. You can zone into the palace (depending on how far in COP missions you are), or right back to the Red Beam you just came out of. Either one is fine. Timed right, you can zone without sleeping them first. Anyway, be careful though. Disseverment has the potential to kill who ever is eating it. Also, be aware, that these mobs can have Reraise on. Yes, you read correctly, Reraise (No SE will not let you dispel it either). Of course though, the ones with daggers seemed to hardly ever have Reraise on (would be a big help if you don't learn it on that particular attempt). It was just my experience though, that's not always the case. Some will Reraise though, and be at full health, so, be ready for it.

Vertical Cleave - (Euvhi mobs) Now, back inside the palace again. These mobs are found just about everywhere that a Ghrah mob is found (either just before them, or just after them around the corner). I don't suggest soloing these at my level. These can be duoed though with a 75Nin or 75Thf. I'm sure more options are available, but, that's all I had at my disposal. They aren't very difficult to duo, although, they do have one AOE move to watch out for. However, it's nothing shadows can't handle. During these fights, make sure to watch out for the Ghrahs around you, so you don't get a link. They will use Vertical Cleave when they are in the open form (They look like Flowers).

Reactor Cool - (Zdei mobs) These mobs are basically known as pots. They act just like them, but, more advanced. These can be very dangerous. Probably the next biggest threat to the Aerns from earlier. Just be careful with these. They are also the hardest to find if you don't know your way around. I know, one can be found not too far from the entrance to the palace, but, I was lost when I found it, so, can't tell you how to get there. After wondering around for a bit, my duo partner found one deep within (we couldn't find our way out). It was behind a door. Update: One can be found just as you enter in the first door of the palace on your right. Go in, and check behind the door on the right, at the back of the first room where you see Aerns). That's where we always found them each time. They will aggro you, soon as you step a few feet inside those doors. If you think you're going to die, you need to fight outside of that room. That way, you can reraise safely if needed. All I did was Stun it over and over, to increase our survivability. Most MP was trying to be saved for Magic Fruit. Beat it down, blah blah blah, you know the rest, ^^.

Ram Charge - Yes, I saved this one for last, because I had assistance provided to me before I went to go hunt it. Basically, you have your choice of three places to go to, Konschat Highlands, La Theine Plateau, and Lufaise Meadows (obviously you won't be soloing Lufaise Meadows Rams, ^^). So, I head out to Konschat Highlands. As soon as I get there, Rampaging Ram is just sitting there, woot! Of course I take it to him, and complete my Purple Belt quest.....FINALLY, . I ended up going 0/1 on Ram Charge that time. Later on, I returned after my Dynamis run. Didn't see any Rams at the moment, but, while running around, I saw two low levels fighting a Quadav. So, I assumed, maybe it was a Blu trying to learn Head-Butt or something. I did a /sea blu search. I was wrong about the low levels, but, I did notice there was another blu in the zone. Ironically, level 70 as well. So, of course, I asked, "Are you hunting Ram Charge?" She said, "Yes, fighting Tremor Ram right now." These are a 16min repop (so I was told), so, I asked, "Can I join, please? This is my last spell." She says sure. I run over, I swing, maybe 3 or 4 times, and it uses Ram Charge. She already had beaten it down to about 40% when I reached where she was. About 10sec later......Nicest learns Ram Charge! I was like wow! How cool was that! So, anyway, just beat these down, np at all.

Ahhh, well, the time has come. This is a very very great post for me, but, also a very very sad one. It's a great post, because, I have FINALLY accomplished my goal of learning all Blu spells, on time (for the most part). I think only 2 or 3 of them were learned late. It's a sad post, because, this is the end of my thread (I'm going to miss seeing it available on the boards). I hope my thread helped many many Blus out there. As it was created for that purpose in the very beginning. To those new Blu hopefuls, I wish you the best in your adventures. Don't let anyone discourage you from trying to learn ALL OF YOUR SPELLS ON TIME IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT! I'm proof that it can be done, because I have done it. It was lots of fun, and you'll make new friends in the process. Stick to your guns. EVERYONE told me I couldn't/wouldn't do it, but, I did it....EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!

I want to take this time to thank everyone who helped me in my journey. My social LS (you guys know I think you're awesome).

Special thanks to Ulicia. She helped me so many times throughout my journey, I'm glad to have met her in the process.

oh yeah....Blu owns!

Jwnl's section
Jwnl helped me be able to help other's out, during a time that I was not able to. His help was much appreciated, and hope it helps you guys. These are not my personal experiences, because I have yet to hunt these spells. When I do, I'll update them for myself...

Ok heres some recent update love from Ragnarok---logged on as soon as I could and stood in Whitegate for about 5 minutes before I snagged a shout for BLU spells. I happened to know the guy so I jumped in with him and about 15 other level 75 BLU's and we went 6/6 on the new spells.

Zephyr Mantle-1/17 *blah* wonderful way to start spell hunting again:( We went out to Mammool Ja Stage Point and beat the crap out of every Puk in sight for about a half hour. They spam Zephyr Mantle so not horrible.

Magic Hammer-1/14 *blah again* batting a thousand here and wondering if my gloves are broken since I am once again dead flippin last to learn the spell. We ran into Mamook from the stage point and camp near a bridge on the west side of the Puroggo pond and killed everything in sight for a bit. EVERYONE have head butt up because these turkeys can pop of a high tier -ga spell and knock the crap out of everyone. They don't use Magic Hammer all that often so be prepared to draw out fights a bit.

Mind Blast-1/3 *ahhhhh thats better* We took the SP to Illrusi Atoll and then slapped Imps in the little tunnel there then hugged the left side of the path all the way till we saw Soulflayers around some water. Up above this area is a nice lil tunnel to pull the Flayers into. We were down to 7-8 of us at this point so I was a lil nervous but no big deal really. The super bio they use sucks but if you get Exuviation first you can just erase it and keep going. These guys do suck in that they don't use Mind Blast all that often. I would say 1 in every 3 or 4 use Mind Blast so be prepared for a bit of time spent on these.

Exuviation-1/4 *not too bad at all* We trecked alllllll the way from the Halvung Stage point through the Mount Zyaholm tunnel past the Dahaks to these psychotic moths. A friend of mine had said he would rather fight a half dozen soulflayers than one of these things so I was nervous. In the end it wasn't too bad really just make sure everyone has Magic Fruit up. Watch out for Probiscous if you are standing in the front of them or you will find yourself with a big fat 0 MP. Also, watch out for their crazy Erratic Flutter, its like moth 100 fists for a few secs. Just head butt away and they will quit. They spam Exuviation so not too bad learning.

Wild Carrot- 1/1 *heck yea* I went out to Ulegard *sp* late after the BLU learn burn with 3 friends of mine and felt bad for dragging them out there really. These rabbits are stupid easy at 75 and use Wild Carrot every fight. We did help a lvl 40 BLU friend of mine get it so that was fun.

Blank Gaze- 1/1 *AF gloves FTW!* Ok this one was dirt stupid simple. I grabbed a quick tele to Yhoat ran around till I found an Opo, took off everything except my AF gloves and body and then went afk to the bathroom while my char. beat the tar out of that monkey. One thing I made wure to do was to have a bunch of buffs on me before the fight. Not sure if that helped but that monkey Blank Gazed a couple of them during the fight and BAM! Quendi learns Blank Gaze.

Soooooo all done once again....thanks for the fun SE but i'm frankly standing around thinking "is that it?" Well, heres to any future spells added *cheers* look forward to digging out my AF gloves again since they are once again in storage.

Nicest's New Spells Section

Lvl 75

Finally finally finally. I (yes, me), finally got a chance to go on yet another spell hunting trip. I must say, it was a successful one as well. Things couldn't have gone any better.

Zephyr Mantle (Rdm, Blu, Blu) - We headed out to Wajoom Woodlands for this one. We had to fight quite a few of these. Not that they were hard or anything. They just have other moves that at this particular time, they choose to spam way more often. When it finally did decide to go ahead and use Zephyr Mantle, I learned it right away.

Wild Carrot (Solo) - I headed out to Bibiki Bay for this one. Nothing to tell here. I'm level 75, so, see Rarab, kill a rarab, learn a rarab ability. Wild Carrot.....{mine}.

Magic Hammer (Rdm, Blu) - We headed to Mamook for this one. This fight was really drawn out. Once again, not because he was that hard, but, because of Frog Song (charm), and the costume move. Happened about 3 times or so. When it did, since I was tanking, it only happened to me. My Rdm friend would just sleep me and the frog, until costume wore off. Then, we'd just go back to killing. He was easy to silence (maybe because Rdm was doing the silencing, I'm not sure). Other than that, piece of cake.

Blank Gaze (Solo) - I headed to Yhoater Jungle via Tele-Yhoat for this one. Nothing to tell here. I'm level 75, so, see Opo Opo, kill a Opo Opo, learn a Opo Opo ability. Blank Gaze.....{mine}.

Well, 4/6 down, only two left to go to be complete once again. I'll update when the time comes. ^^

The Return to completeness (That's right....I'm back!)

Yep, as I said, I'm finally 100/100, complete, yet again. As you all know, for me, there's just no other way to be. Complete is just what I'm about. After the day before yesterday, I only needed two more spells. Low and behold, I get them completely unplanned for.

Sometimes, it just helps to be helpful. My friend Myriads (the only person I know that's soloed his whole Blu career.....lvl 1-71 thus far), needed help with some COP mission stuff. So, I pitched in to help out. Afterwards, we kinda spoke briefly on Blu spells and such, and I expressed the spells I was still missing. He made mention of possibly going hunting after the missions, but, we didn't speak too much on it. Well, what luck, he decided to go through with it.

Well, on this journey (speaking of mine inparticular), I must mention a very familiar name you guys must of heard me say a lot, because she's been in most of my hunts all the time. My friend Ulicia (AKA: Deathpain) comes to help out once again (Thank You).

Mind Blast - Well, we decided to use the new staging point (Nyzul Isle or something like that). This is my first time using the portal since I unlocked it, so, forgive me for not being able to speak on it well. I think it was the NE warp first, then, take the Blue warp on your left, afterwards. If that's wrong, forgive me. I just don't know it by heart at all. Where ever it is, the Soulflayers that you want to fight, are right near the zone as you exit. Also, you don't need to go through a NPC to go outside either. If you have to go through a NPC, then, you've gone the wrong way. I almost took that exit on mistake. If you do, you'll need to pay him one Imp. Silver Coin to get back in. Luckily, I avoided this situation.

Anyway, we had 9 people with us I think it was (Blu, Blu, Blu, Blu, Blu, Pld, Mnk, Thf, Whm). They weren't bad at all (probably due to the amount of people we had). It only took a few kills for everyone to learn (AF hands going to work today). I think, all in all, it was about 5 or 6 pulls. With that many Blu involved, I mean, how big of a threat could they really be? Head-butts being spammed like mad, and a whm to erase/~na all those crazy effects it gives everyone. Be forewarned though, on our very first pull, we were hit with something I'd never seen before.....INSTANT Sleepga. THAT was crazy. Luckily, either one person didn't get put to sleep, or, the person who was hit physically, was able to wake everyone else up. Other wise, that could've turned out terribly. Not many pulls later, all 5 Blus have learned, Congratulations!

Exuviation - Well, after our first session, some people had to go back to doing the things they were previously doing, and/or had scheduled. I really wanted to go after Exuviation though, because, it was the last spell I needed. Plus, I mean, how often can you gather a good strong team for hunting big/rare/hard spells? Since I had joined one already, I wanted to make the best use of it as I could. So, I get the rest of us to agree on going after that spell as well. Since we're having these crazy connection issues, our Pld ended up DCing upon zoning. Now, we're just Mnk, Thf, Blu, Blu, Blu, Whm. Hmmmm, oh well, INCOMING, lol! Everyone's more than confident that we can take'em. I on the other hand (who's only experience fighting these ended up in death and destruction for the whole xp party each time when someone aggroed one running to camp), wasn't quite as confident just yet.

These things are NOT that hard. Don't know what you've been told before, but, I'm telling you now. With a good group, these just are NOT that difficult. One thing that can make them difficult though, is if you try to fully enfeeble them. I'm guessing that's why my parties before were just destroyed. I wasn't aware, that these get a serious boost to Exuviation, when enfeebles are on them. So, just find someone who's capable of tanking these without it being fully enfeebled, or enfeebled at all. Remember though, try to give it at least one enfeeble, so that it has a reason to actually use Exuviation. Also, try to watch it closely as well. After some move it uses, it'll start attacking with the speed of Hundred Fists. If so, feel free to give it a Flash, and a few Head Butts if you can. That can get dangerous for anyone tanking. After 2 pulls, our Mnk had to leave, and a Pld replaced. Fights were still easily done. They did use this move, more than 2 or 3 times a fight, so, no worries in that department. It was about 1:30am when I learned, and became complete once again.

I'm still dog tired after last night, since, I had to get up for work in 4hrs. (I stayed another 30min to help Myriads a bit more). Blu spell hunting is fun in its own right. As much as I love being complete, I always miss the thrill of having to go out, and learn new spells from new monsters. That in itself is quite fun. GL to all who still need these (lol, I know I'm actually late, but, I'm sure there's more out there in need).

/kneel Ulicia, Myriads, Gates, Iha, Suji, Xahn, Kale...(Pld)

{Thank You}

Blu owns! :P

UPDATE TIME 3/13/08...NEW SPELLS!

Sweet! More spells...{All right!}

Well, It's been a while, hasn't everyone? Finally, some more spell hunting. I don't know how many Blus are like me, but I really miss spell hunting. I was very excited to embark myself on yet another journey. I came back for one night, and managed to gather them all, in just a few hours. Well, without further delay, here goes (listed in order I learned them)...

Corrosive Ooze - Fought in Passhow Marshlands [S]: Well, I went out with a friend of mine, and duoed (2Blus). These can be soloed as well...no biggie. These didn't cause any problems for us what so ever. Fair warning though, they do have a move that can knock ALL of your equipment off, and keep you from putting it back on for uite a bit of time. I think it was around 1min or so (give or take). Keep in mind, one of the hardest parts about learning their ability, may not be the difficulty of the fight, but have more so to do with, at the time of the killing, there's a good chance that you won't have your AF hands equipped, due to the previous forementioned ability. 1/1 (AF hands)

Regurgitation - Fought in Passhow Marshlands [S]: I LOVED fighting these mobs. They have a move that I've yet to see in FFXI at all. These I "suggest" you fight with your back to them (very familiar tactic to those who spam BCNM 40 Under Observation). Once again, we duoed (2Blus) these. Though I didn't try, I think these can be soloed fairly decently. It poses a bigger threat than the Oozes though. If you're hit with Delta Strike, and you have no defenses curently active, you could be biting the dust. That though, isn't the worst of it. They have a "perma" petrify move (as my friend Ulicia put it). Basically, they have a petrifying stare, that once activated, doesn't go away. If you ever turn and look at it while it's eyes are lit up, you're good as petrified. This move is continuous, so, don't think you'll be waiting for it to go off and such. 1/1 (Af hands)

Spiral Spin - Fought in the first beginning parts of Jugner Forest [S], zoning in from Batallia Downs [S}: Meh, not too much to say about these. Was in the same duo, and we beat the crap out of it very quickly, and it did use the move, during which time I learned. Ummm, so, yeah. Easy fight in that setup. 1/1 (Af hands)

Asuran Claws - Fought in Jugner Forest [S], where you have to run through Vunker Inlet to get to first: There's several different levels of these "type" mobs. Basically, we hunted the ones called Lobisons. These can be very hard/nasty mobs. I don't suggest trying to solo these by ANY means, unless you're just out to ultimately challenge yourself, and wow the forums or something. To make things easier, you can target/pull the one's that are already standing up. That way, you don't have to go through the trouble of having someone voking it to make it stand up (at least that's the rumor to making it stand up as of now). On our way there, we grabbed several others who were all looking for this spell. All in all, I think we had a total of 8 people on these attempts (6Blus, a Rdm, and one other, I can't think of what that person was at the moment), although we did kill one with just 5 or six of us (4Blus and a Rdm...one wasn't really fighting, thinking he needed to hold back to let it build TP...noooooo, don't do this). These have several abilities that will hurt quite a bit if caught off guard. Asuran Claws being one of them...Nox Blast has reportedly been very damaging as well. Those are the only two I remember, as they both made quite an impression by killing someone upon usage. They also have an ability to heal themselves ridiculously. I mean, I'm not sure if it's reminiscent of Exuviation type healing or what, I just know, don't be surprised to see these bad boys heal themselves upwards to 1500+ at a time, and multiple times at that. Be careful on these, and plan to kill with all you have. 1/2 (Af hands)

Seedspray - Not too much here either. We were planning to hunt these in a Sarutabaruta [S] zone, but saw one otw there in Meriphataud Mountains [s]: Well, upon seeing this one, I had two others with me (another Blu and a Rdm). Well, we saw this one, beat it down really quickly (like the ladybug earlier for Spiral Spin), and learned it right away. So, not much to say here. 1/1 (Af hands)

Once again, back to complete status, and I wish all those hoeful Blus out there good luck. Just remember, everyone doesn't have what it takes to get all of these done. So, just remember, if you can do so, you're a little different than most who don't have what it takes. This makes a Blu, well.....a Blu. :P

Blu owns!

*Special thanks to Premier (The Blu with me the whole time), and Madamex (The Rdm with me the whole time...always there taking care of me). Also, to Ulicia for providing me some brief information before I headed out to hunt for myself.

40 Mysterious Light: (Delkfutt's - Pots in basement) BLU duo at level 40
40 Terror Touch: (Delkfutt's - Bogies in basement) BLU duo at level 40

42 Venom Shell: (Bibiki Bay - Purg. Isle Uraganites) yet to obtain (buggers are impossible to solo at this level with a mean auto-regen)

Cool, thanks for participating, ^^.

I'm hoping some of the new Blus out there, who are wondering when, how, and the best way to learn spells, sees these, and can get pick which way they'd like to go out and obtain there spells, ^^.

Awesome Omni.

I just thoroughly read your post. Gave me some good ideas on where to go. Man, some of those spells, I planned to get from a Blu party, but, saw you soloed quite a few. I'll be attemtping that myself, if my duo partner isn't available (Even if I get it, I'll still be helping him out if he needs). I look forward to some of your updates. I doubt I'll catch up to you.

i learned pollen, sandspin, and sprout smack in south gustaberg. foot kick in the front of palboroh mines, and im working on metalic body and headbutt in north gustaberg. 6 spells learnable outside bastok and im only level 5 ^^ ill go to windy for wild oats, cacoon, and feather storm and sandy for quasyshroom and battle dance. all 12 spells before level 12 can be learned at level 4 pretty easily soloing. and the level 16 spells can be learned in dunes/bubu partys. i have had a 50+% learn rate so far on spells, never failing to learn it more than a couple times. that might just be luck or because i get mob down to 5% HP and turn around for TP build up and kill it immediately after it uses the spell. good lucks BLUs ^^ btw i sub SMN for more MP and avatars in case i get a link and need to run away. /BST might work too. i tried /MNK and /WHM but they werent nearly as helpful to me as carby and elemental avatars for staying alive

Currently level 10 BLU. All spells were learned solo. I spent a long time on many of these (especially Queasyshroom and Pollen), but capping my Blue Magic skill really helped with the later ones (2 or 3 move viewings each for FS and HB).

Pollen - level 2, E Saruta
Foot Kick - level 3, E Saruta
Sandspin - Level 2, W Ronfaure

Power Attack - level 4, W Ronfaure
Sprout Smack - level 5, S Gustaberg
Wild Oats - level 1, E Saruta

Metallic Body - level 6, Ronfaure
Cocoon - level 8, Saruta
Queasyshroom - level 6, Ronfaure

Battle Dance - level 7, Ronfaure
Feather Storm - level 10, Saruta
Head Butt - level 10, Palborough Mines

Got Mandibular Bite last night in Attowha Chasm and a high level friend helped me kill Uraganites (unless you have a team of BLUs, that is pretty much the only way) for Venom Shell. I was able to solo Bugards with significant downtime, but he helped me kill a few of them for Awful Eye as well. So I'll need to go kill a few Anticans for Magnetite Cloud and I'll be set until 48, where we have to learn FOUR spells (and 2 of them are CoP mobs O.o)

From the curses our top BLU's in the linkshell put up, Hippogryphs be a real pain to learn from.

As for me:

Pollen: Level 1, bees outside Windurst
Foot Kick: Level 2, rarab outside Windurst
Sandspin Level 5, worm in Giddeus

Wild Oats: Level 2, mandy outside Windurst
Sprout Smack: Level 7, sapling outside Bastok
Power Attack: Level 8, beetle outside San d'Oria

Cocoon: Level 5, crawler outside Windurst
Metallic Body: Level 2, crab outside Windurst
Queasyshroom: No such luck yet!

Battle Dance: Level 8, orc outside San d'Oria
Sheep Song: Level 7, sheep outside San d'Oria
Bludgeon: 4 frickin' hours beating on Cardians, no such luck!

After Queasyshroom, I'm hunting down Head Butt and Feather Storm off newbie beastmen.

By the way, I went 25-29 last night. Once I get lvl 32 and get out of the jungles, I'll go spell hunting again, and will be updating the original post. A friend of mine, lvl 29 soloed Chaotic Eye, Sound Blast, Jet stream, and Smite of Rage. I can't wait, ^^.

{All right!} I hit level 32 this weekend, then proceeded to to go spell hunting once again.

In about 3.5-4hrs. of farming I managed to walk away with....

Chaotic eye
Sound Blast
Smite of Rage
Digest
Death Ray
Jet Stream
Uppercut

Man, talk about having some fun, and feeling well rewarded afterwards, lol, BLU rules!

I updated my original post, to explain the how/when I obtained each spell. Happy hunting BLUs, ^^.

Edit: K, I've just come from updating my original post, and failed to remember that I could "possibly" learn Pinecomb bomb at this level as well. I'll be going for that next time I log on, ><.

Here are some of the higher level and more difficult ones to obtain. I am currently level 66.

Frenetic Rip

Suggested PT: 1 LV.75 Melee with NIN sub, 1 Healer

Take the ship to Nashmau, and take the WEST Exit to Cadaerva Mire. If you head straight out from there, you'll encounter a graveyard. There are 3 Orderly Imp mobs that spawn around there. I would advise to do this during daylight because at night, undead skeletons appear. The Qiqrin there are not aggressive, and will give you something else to kill (Sandspray) between Imp pops. I would advise taking at least 3 stacks of echo drops with you, as Deafening Tantara seems to be their WS of choice (Frenetic Rip is rarely used), and it silences. The Imps con EM-T at 64.

Frightful Roar

Suggested PT: 50 WHM & 50 BLU Can Duo

Enter the level 50 Cap Sacrarium and kill Stegotaurs (Con: DC). BLU/NIN can tank these just fine with WHM support.

Voracious Trunk

Suggested PT: 4 or 5 LV.75 (Tank, WHM, BRD, DD is best)

Wajaom Woodlands has many Marids there you can kill. They con VT to level 75, so this will require a great deal of support. They also spawn Chigoes (flea-type) whenever they use a WS. These Chigoes can wipe a PT of 75's if not handled quickly. At level 64, I could kill Chigoes with 1 Vorpal Blade or 1 Jet Stream and 2 Bludgeons or so. If you need some quick XP, just disband and kill Chigoes solo while having your healer friend spam cures on you. I was able to do 300,350,420,450 XP per kill as they con VT/IT to 64, but are killed in seconds because they have like 200 HP. They hit as fast as a monk with hundred fists and hit hard though, so make sure you're cure bombed. I was level 64 BLU and had a hell of a time acquiring this, but I have to say, I made about 15k XP in an hour just killing fleas while trying to acquire this spell (just rejoin the PT before the Marid dies).

Cold Wave & Filamented Hold

Suggested PT: 1 level 75 (preferably WHM to Raise 3 you if you die from Hypothermal Combustion)

Take the Nue Tower entrance in Beaucadine Glacier to Pso'Xja. There is no level cap here. As soon as you enter, you will encounter 2 Diremites and 2 Snowballs. You can acquire both spells here. They are EP to level 55.

Yawn, Tail Slap, Hysteric Barrage

Suggested PT: 1-2 level 75, including healing support

These were acquired fairly easily in Arrapago Reef. Just enter via Caedarva Mire and you'll see the mobs near the shipwreck. The key with Yawn, is to have someone outside the AoE range do a fast cure on your final kill dealer (whoever has TP, or is ready to deal the killing blow real fast at the end while waiting for it to use the move).

Ice Break & Dimensional Death

Suggested PT: 1 Lv.75

Go to Fei'Yin for a ready supply of Shadows and Ore Golems. You should have no problem finding a supply of mobs for this. The biggest mistake I made was waiting 15 minutes for the repop of the one golem I found in Zitah... big mistake.

Radiant Breath, Jettatura, Refueling

Suggested PT: 1 balanced PT @ LV.50

Go to Riverne Site #B01, and you will find Pyrodrakes (Wyvern), Nimbus Hippogryphs, and Nitro Clusters. Right after the first dimensional portal, you can safely camp Wyverns and Hippos. I suggest you get Jettatura first. You can then equip it, and use it to stun/terror Self-Destruct when fighting Nitro Clusters. The cluster bombs can be found straight ahead of that first portal, just keep hugging the left wall and you'll find a safe ravine to camp in (near the Samurai GKT POP NM).

1000 Needles

Suggested PT: 1 75 with SMN sub, and you with SMN sub

I dual boxed my level 75 WHM/SMN and my 60 BLU/SMN. I used SMN subs so I can have Carbuncle out while killing Cactuars in Western Alteppa Desert. I took only 250 DMG per 1000 Needles. Have a BST or /SMN friends help you. The mobs are pretty easy to kill (EP to 60).

Personally I started lvling alot like yourself, only I got curious bout the learning of spells around lvl 4 and went back to collect them (after checking online here in Alla). The Spells I had the most trouble learning was Sound Blast and Chaotic Eye (of course I did not realize till now there were weaker mobs in M. Mountians lol) and I refuse to be PLed through my spell gathering. I just got lucky I guess. I also died twice tring for Chaotic Eye it went something like this:
Thib attacks coureul
Coureul uses Chaotic Eye
Thib Cheers!
Thib is Silenced
umm . . . uh-oh (at this point I made a mental note to always check what the ability does ahead of time)
Thib dies and delvls.
So I picked up some echo drops and went for round 2, unfortunately I did not realize till I started fighting that my swords were lvl 32 and I couldn't equip them anymore . . .
So I went to Qufim got my lvl back then got my spell.

Cool, thanks for some insight on some of those spells Tanthalas. I don't have much experience in the new areas and such. I look forward to getting those spells. Also, I REALLY hope I can coordinate that whole disband/rejoin killing thing for some awesome xp, ^^.

Wow, lol, sorry to hear about that Thiib. Sound like you had quite the adventure (and some fun, ^^) {Good Job!}. {Congratulations!} on that Smite of Rage too, :P.

I've had some fun adventures as well attaining spells. I hope to have many more, ^^. Also, glad/hope this thread helps another person as well (to know where some weaker mobs are, :P).

Thanks for the support Zanza.

As I level, everytime I acquire some new spells, I'll make a post to let peeps know, so it'll come back to the front page. After this weekend though, I'm going to be meritting REALLY hard for a bit, to cap MP and Str merits, so Blu can take advantage (My Drg is going to love that too).

So, I'll do my best to keep this updated as best I can. Lol, I really love playing Blu (Busted out 32-37 yesterday, ^^).

I like this idea, it should probably wind up being compiled into a list organized by level/spell/mob/area/something. Anyway. If I remember to later, I'll post mine as I can recall them. But for now, I'm EXP soloing in Buburimu Peninsula, so. :P

Well, as of right now, it has everything you just asked for Dunas, except for mob type. I only left that out, because I ASSUMED that everyone knew what mob TYPES to get the move from they were interested in. No problem though, if I get enough request to put in the mob types as well, I'll go back and edit those in.

For now, I'm going to just assume people know what mob types they need, but, are just curious as to where they can find mobs similar to their level, and/or whether or not they can solo it, or need a party. The thread was orginally started based on that idea. I knew what mobs I needed, but, I was always curious as to where to go, and/or if I could solo it or not.

Thanks for your input, I'll keep it in mind though, ^^.

BST sub helps a great deal in learning some spells.

Learned Stinking Gas in Pho. Aquaducts by having my BLU buddy (BLU/BST) charm a Gloop and using it to tank the Doomed mob. Worked amazingly well.

Also learned Venom Shell by charming a kraken and letting it tank the Uraginites for us. Him and I stood as far away as possible and kept spamming Pinecone Bomb and Bomb Toss over and over and over until our target died. Worked like a charm, although I'd suggest bringing a stack of Antidotes even if you use this tactic.

Here's my progress so far. I'll likely go back and update it in a couple weeks assuming this thread stays alive. My philosophy is basically go out and learn for a while, then go party when that gets old, then back again. I.e.

Telal, you learned from Bubbly Bernie? Do/can you get xp from him at all? If you did learn from him, that'll disprove the theory of not being able to learn from NMs and such that "don't" give xp. I don't know myself, becuase I've never spawned Bubbly Bernie.

Nice post Yarunk. I see I'll have lots of spells to chase after soon, now that I'm 39. This thread "shouldn't" die until I'm around level 75 or so. If it gets buried (which, over the next few weeks probably will happen, because I plan to fully merit MP and Str) I plan to pull it out from the depths of the forums, to keep it updated.

IMO, this thread is able to help up and coming Blus with some questions they may have about spell aquisition. There are a lot of good threads here about spell aquisition http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=16;mid=114538908575406241;num=106;page=1 (that has helped me a lot on my journey), and I'm just trying to help in the cause. More power to all Blus!!!!

{Good Job!} NuRed, seems we've had quite the luck. My numbers are similar to yours, although, I don't think I've quite had to go 30+ just yet. I think my max has still been around 20-25. I'm hoping it always stays that way, ^^.

Bernie was giving me 108-150 exp per kill with dedication in effect depending on which version of him popped. He's a pretty ideal target for metallic body if you haven't learned it by lvl 10 since he'll at best be EM to you at that point and you'll get a decent chunk of EXP in the process and won't have to hold back quite as much while fighting him. I even hit lvl 11 on the same kill that I learned the spell from him so I was very pleased.

I think I'm going to try to get Frightful Roar from Sacrarium though. Have heard good things for the learning rate there.

{All Right!} 39-42 last night, ^^.

Unfortunately, this is the start of my break from Blu to merit like mad (Full Str merits & Full MP merits). When I return, if this thread dies, I'll revive it (no worries to those who've found it helpful thus far).

Upon coming back, I will be going for MP Drainkiss & Venom Shell as well. I'll update the post accordingly.

Good luck everyone (Man, this break is going to hurt me, but, I'll be more than satisfied I'm sure with the results), ^^.

This is an update for the people who told me they used my posting a lot.

It's not going to take me as long to get all the merits I wanted. I found that xping/meritting in the new zones is INSANE xp. I average anywhere between 50-80k xp per session these days. So far, I've gotten up to Str upgrade 4, and 3/9 needed for the final upgrade. I already have 2/8 MP merits, and will start on that when I finish doing Str.

I can't wait to update this post again when I return to Blu. I miss playing Blu a lot, but think that my efforts will make my Blu experience that much better.

WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've done it! Str merits? CAPPED. MP merits? CAPPED.

FINALLY! (Took me long enough, -_-). I would be going straight back to Blu now, but, I've been enlightened on Spell Interruption merits, which I never really though about. So, I AM going to play Blu again now, :D, but, will probably be throwing some more merit sessions in here and there (The change of pace is going to be nice though, ^^). Thinking about doing Blu partying during the week, with some meritting on the weekends, or, something like that.

Man, I'm just glad I set that goal, and knocked it down with no interruptions. It was hard (I had to send ALL of my Blu equips to the mule, so I wouldn't be tempted to change to it at all).

Anyway, Blu community, I'm glad to be back to join you all again in the xp grind to 75, ^^.
