Fenrir with nothing but Summoners?Follow

Looking into fighting Fenrir again.

I got him as an avatar long ago when the only real job i had was PLD, but now that my Summoner is 75, i'm aiming for the Evoker's Ring, and since he is the last guy i need items from, i'm going to have to take him out again.

This time however, i'm planning on taking a group of nothing but Summoners (and maybe a bard/corsair?) to fight him. I heard this was quite easy, but i'm actually not really sure what to do.

So:

1. Setup - Are there any jobs i should bring outside of summoners and how many summoners would it take to kill him? What's the minimum level for a Summoner to join?

2. Tactics - I heard Leviathan's 70BP was the thing to use here.
Anything more i should take into consideration?
* Standing out of AoE Range, is there a need to stun anything?
* Is Astral Flow used?
* Do we require any items?
* Any surprises or quick reactions/resummons needed?
* How bad will this fight be on the MP upkeep?
* Are there any additional pacts that can be of use during this fight?

6 smn's can take it down. No mp issues. Use Levi / Titan 70 pacts. If your geared up, I'm sure Titans Geocrush will stun his 2hr when he's near 50% he should have some TP by then, I would use Ramuh but this was before merit pacts. Seen it done anywhere from 3-6 smn's putting refreshers in other slots. If you don't got that great perpet gear and have no rdm just bring juices. not a hard fight & gl.

That's exactly what i was hoping to hear ^^

I hope some more people could give some input for the fight, but i'm a lot less worried about the whole thing now. I was thinking the perpetuation upkeep might be rough, but by the sound of it, the fight should be done before you run out of MP. Which should translate to like... 3 minutes worth of Blood Pact: Rages?

Sounds good. How popular is this fight to recruit summoners for in WG?

I would like to say 3 smn and yags np, but to be honest 4 is guaranteeed, while 3 could get you killed.

3 smns and a rdm, easy win. I personally like Levi better for this.

It's the animation. All Drakesbane does is poke a mob and make lights appear. Ukko's Fury smashes a hole through existence itself to damage an opponent.

Fenrir fight, and mithran trackers, are probably the only activities in FFXI where people actually ask a SMN to participate. So I guess it depends on if the Summoners are sick of it, or if they are happy to be asked to do something at all.

I see you have BLU and RDM at 75. Both jobs can solo Fenrir (much easier to do as RDM). Just some food for thought if you can't get a group of SMNs together.

If you and/or the other SMNs have the option of merited (maxed) BPs, use them. They can't miss and are rarely resisted and do more dmg aswell without relying on criticals.
This way 1-2 SMN + a RDM/NIN is even enough to get the job done, safer though with more.

Just led a party of 3 SMNs, a RDM, BLM and COR for this fight, very easy win. Got a little worried when Fenrir's HP dropped much faster than I expected and we all ate a Howling Moon before we could move. Luckily Fenrir hadn't been using his dispel move so we all had Stoneskin still up, plus it was Lightsday.

RDM and BLM died on me around the last 10% but we still pulled through after one more round of BPs.

If you're taking nothing but SMNs, 5-6 will make Fenrir a total joke. 4 should be fine, and 3 is tricky but doable.

You can use Garuda for DD as well if you trust your avatar's accuracy, though Leviathan and Titan are good as well.

Ended up going with:

- SMN75 (me)
- SMN75
- SMN73
- SMN71
- COR75
- RDM69

Used Leviathans, we had next to infinite MP. First volley of bloodpacts took him down to 67%. Avatars survived 2-hour without too much trouble. Drove RDM in the red however since he stood too close, he got hate from curing himself back to full overexcitedly after all his buffing put him on the hate list, and he did died in just a few hits from Fenny, who found it nice to debuff everyone who was standing close to him while he was at it. Next volley on top of all the meleeing that was done left him at 11%. He didnt live up to the next recast for the bloodpacts.

One of the easiest fights i've done in a while. Yet still pretty fun. Unfortunately, the RDM's SMN wasnt 70 yet, so we advised him to bring another job. Which didnt really work out all too well either, but yeah...

I'm sure Five summoners would have cleaned Fenny up with two massive bloodpact waves. MP was never an issue, even though refresh and evoker's roll were easily wiped away a couple of times.

This was before the patch however, would probably be even easier now.

Shock Strike is another good option for stunning. And if you have fairly high summoning magic and some accuracy merits it is also acceptable to use Garuda instead of Leviathan.

it can be done duo by very skilled smners. but you have to be very lucky.

i was ones oneshotted when i ran in with the avatar out, fenrir doube attacked and his attacks passed blink, stoneskin took one and the second was 500+ crit. hit... so i was eating dirt.

i've done this fight often, i prefer garuda, most guides say leviathan or titan, but predator claws always gave me good results, (200-500dmg more comared to spinning dive). Ofcourse you can still have those lol-predator claws doing 200dmg...
