I decided I might try to post my experience with macro building and set-up to get any comments or suggestions from the rest of you out there in our community.
I'm always looking to maximize my potential and minimize my aggrivation when dealing with my macro setup, so feel free to make corrections you think would benefit me.
Also, if you like the way I set it up and want to mimic it, go to town.
Alright, here goes:
My macros function primarily from one main macro book and jump around between them a lot. It's not really as complicated as it sounds.

trick i learn from long ago which i assume most SMNs know, but i'll put it here just in case
u can have a lot of the avatar BPs in just 1 button...

since u can never have 2 different avatars out at the same time, u can be sure that when u push the macro, it'll be the BP from that "group" of BPs. i have one of all the magics, one of all the 70 rage BPs, one for the other rage BPs that's useful (Nether Blast, Eclipse Bite and such) and two for all the buffs and heals. whatever that's not on the list, i can just ctrl+B and pick it up when i need to.
u can have a lot of the avatar BPs in just 1 button...

With my 5 hats, 5 bodies, 5 hands, 5 capes, 5 belts, 5 legs, 5 feet, 5 necks, etc you get the picture, I've just given up on in game macros.
SE would have done themselves a favor to make the armors cover everything instead of force me to have one for every situation.

Mine's fairly similar to OP, except I use macro sets instead of macro books, since I have several other books used for other scenarios so I can't afford to dedicate 11 books to SMN. So I have macro set 1 = your macro book 1 + book 2 (main macro set for summoning avatars, and Carbuncle macro set at same time). Macro set 2 is Fenrir, 3 is Ifrit, 4 is Titan, 5 is Leviathan, 6 is Garuda, 7 is Shiva, 8 is Ramuh, 9 is Diabolos, 0 is spirits/siphon (I did it in the order of elemental days, helped me memorize the order, which can come in handy). Ctrl-0 always releases current avatars and returns to macro set 1, Ctrl-1 always resummons current avatar.
An example of what this might look like for BP/release is:
Starting in macro set 1, with the following equipped:
Bahamut Staff
Staff Strap
Hedgehog Bomb
Summoner's Horn
Summoning Torque
Magnetic Earring
Loquacious Earring
Yinyang Robe
Marduk's Dastanas
Tamas Ring
Evoker's Ring
Astute Cape
Hierarch Belt

I'm glad to see that someone else does things the way that I do. The only Reason I use books instead of sets is so that when Iopen my macro command from the main menu, I can see things easier. I just happen to play as a career SMN... so I have little need for extra books. It's silly, but I just like to be able to see them all laid out nicely.
Macro Book 12 is reserved for BLM in case I decide to lvl it past 37
Macro Book 13 is for WHM for the same reason as BLM
Macro Book 14 SCH... same thing
Macro Book 15 THF... ditto... but mainly for farming.
Macro Book 16-19 are empty :P
Macro Book 20 is for when I feel like doing teleports in Jeuno/WG. It has all kinds of witty little shouts and has a macro for each teleport and my warp macro back home. I even do a little dance routine while we wait for the tele to finish. I have too much time on my hands.
Either way. Thats the only reason I use books. For anyone who isn't a career SMN like myself, I totally agree with you on using sets. Absolutely more space friendly... no doubt ^^

Don't worry, either the new avatars are so good you won't be using a few of the old pacts, or they are also worthless and you can just choose the ones that look coolest.
