How do avatars differ?Follow

I was wondering if the avatars differ in various stats, or if they're all the same, minus their individual bloodpacts and elemental damage obviously. For example, Titan would look like is has more defense than the others, while Shiva would have more Dex or Agi. I've never heard any discussion regarding it, so I dunno. o_o. I've always figured they were the same, except Carbuncle since it has a lower prep cost. Does Carbuncle has the same damage than any other avatar?

They do not differ, except for elemental resistances. For example, Shiva is highly resistant to Paralysis and Blizzard Spells, and Diabolos is highly resistant to Sleep. Celestial Avatars and Diabolos count as BLMs, and have MAB traits at the same level as BLMs.

Carbuncle has less HP than all the other avatars, and is a WHM main job (and has Auto-Regen as a result). Carbuncle also hits the weakest because of this.

Fenrir has a lower delay than the other avatars, and also hits harder.

Ifrit is Fire based. Has highest STR.
Shiva is Ice based. Has highest INT.
Garuda is Wind based. Has highest AGI.
Ramuh is Lightning based. Has highest DEX.
Titan is Earth based. Has highest VIT.
Leviathan is Water based. Has highest MND.
Carbuncle is a Light based rodent. Has lamentable stats.
Diabolos is Sleep based. Not a fuggin' clue what he's best at.
Fenrir is a dog. It bites. Nuff said.

Are you sure of this? I've always had Shiva's magic spells do the same damage as all the others'. I originally thought they each had a boost to their corresponding stat, but from this I came to the conclusion that they didn't.

Take Crystan's post as tongue-in-cheek. Your statement is correct.

Floating about menacingly... and lobbing giant balls of 'dark stuff' at moving (or stationary, for that matter) objects.

I still like how a spirit is about a quarter as powerful as a monster spirit.

Would it really be too much to ask for the ability to solo EM elementals with the correct spirit choice? Would still drain a ton of MP unless you were a maxed out 75 anyway.

Are you sure about ifrit not having the highest strength?

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c207/Lightningcount4/holyf.jpg

I have NEVER seen predator claws or any other level 70 BP do that much damage for that matter.

Max PC was about 4kish usually average about 2-3kish. Lowest flaming crush was 800 (double miss) and the highest was almost 7k (no pic) not counting misses, the average I have seen is 3-4k on these.

(Is it necro posting if the thread is still on page 1? o.O)

I assume the hpemde's mouth was open so it took double damage from that.

Ifrits attack is partly fire based, so it does best against mobs that have low fire resist. I haven't found anything but goldfishes and skeletons that seem weak to fire though.

Im sorry I forgot to make is obvious... yes his mouth was open... I never use a blood pact on those if their mouth is closed. It makes the difference between a 45 second fight and a 2 minute fight, and its an mp saver.

Hmm... Ok that makes sense. I thought it was his str but I do know that that attack has a fire hit on the third hit.

One thing I have started paying attention to is the type of physical damage they did.

All avatars' melée is blunt type damage.

Shiva and Ifrit are H2H while Titan and Ramuh are 'Impact.'. I am not quite sure what the difference between those two are, but I believe both to be Blunt damage.

Garuda and Leviathan's physical lvl. 70 Blood pacts are Slashing, as well as Fenrir's Eclipse Bite.

Garuda's Claw, Leviathan's Tail whip, Fenrir's Crescent Fang (correct name?), and Carbuncles Poison Nails are all Piercing.

This information is found on Ffxiclopedia under any search for 'Slashing, Piercing, Blunt, etc.'. The avatar's damage types are listed.

I found it helpful to research the basic mob type that is/will be fought, and use the avatar with the damage type exploiting any potential modifiers.
