How can I solo the War Lynx? (if I can)Follow

I'm working on my Wings of the Goddess missions and I'm to the point where I need to fight the War Lynx and I'm worried about soloing it.

The testimonials say a 75SMN/35RDM solo'd it but I'm not so sure how I could go about soloing it.

The thing has somewhere between 6500-7500 hit points and I'm guessing predator claws won't do over 1200 damage and that's assuming I get a good hit. That means I would need 6-7 good hits and I don't know if I could leave Garuda out that long. I'm only a 72 Mithra SMN and I just don't have that kind of MP to do that many BP's even with all my +MP gear.

What advice do yall have? I guess I could mix it up with Carbuncle and Garuda but I can only imagine how long that would take. I could also make Yagudo Drinks but no idea how many I would need.

Yes, Carby/Fenrir kiting ftw. Just don't run yourself into those ugly plants that sound aggro.

Yeah, those plants are the reason I'm worried about taking a long time. I generally trust myself to be smart about where I stand for the standard fight and not get aggro, but if I take 30 minutes to kill this thing, mistakes will more than likely be made.

I haven't had time to scout out the area yet so I don't know what's around there. I just know the walk from Rolanberry to Windy was scary as all Hell (especially since I went in the very South East corner of entrance of the fort from Meriphitaud Mountains). Why would they put so many aggressive things that detect things by scent! Also, nearly getting blindsided by a level 80 gnat wasn't fun either. :-p

You're WAY too worried about this. If the plants get in your way, just keep sneak up, and don't recast an avatar near them in case the Lynx gets at you before your avatar can get its attention. A few well placed PC or EB and some Carby kiting will not take too long for this.

So I went ahead and tried to solo it and it couldn't have been easier. I just summoned Carby and triggered the fight. After Carby got a hold of him, I ran behind the gate and waited.

When carby finally died the lynx was already at 50%. I summoned Fenrir after that. I used Eclipse Bite right away and it immediatly used it's stare attack so I ran further back (couldn't retreat since Fenrir was doing his BP). It luckily missed Fenrir a few times so I had time to cast and move back.

Fenrir got back on him, a few seconds later Fenrir lost all hate and it came for me. Fenrir got hate back pretty easily and did one more Eclipse Bite and finished it off.

I was only worried because I was having fun earlier and put myself to deleveling. I think I've hit 72SMN 3 or 4 times now just having fun and didn't feel like hitting it again (especially since I plan to die next time I fight Shiki). :-p

(though I do admit, I was probably a bit too nervous about this one >_>)

also remember although claws may only do 1.2k.. garuda is meleeing the whole time between pacts.

Thats how its possible, but carby is probably your safest bet if you are worried, boring as hell though.

I actually used fenrir, and had elemental tank while i did Siphon then summon back out fenrir
