Resist Slow...?Follow

I've been trying to think of some reason that Summoner has this Job Trait but I really can't think of one. I know SE is the king of making illogical decisions but really, can anyone think of a reason Summoner possesses this Job Trait over something like Resist Paralyze?

Don't be so confused. BST SMN and PUP all get resist slow. The real question is why doesn't drg get it...

What's the purpose though? It's not like slow is a death deal for any of those jobs. When I'm on BST I've never almost died from being slowed, paralyze on the other hand. I'd imagine the same would be true for both Summoner and Puppetmaster as well, being such JA and Pet Command reliant jobs...

i'm not 100% sure, but i would imagine that for bst/smn/pup (the 3 main ones that get it {i know dnc gets one lvl of it, too}) having all your pet timers as well as your own timers gimped by slow would just be crippling more so than for other jobs.



take bst and war for example:
a war with slow still deliveres a lot of dps, they are less dependant on timers outside of berserk/warcry for WSs

a bst with slow cant use sick as often as it needs to be, or any spells/abiilities based on their /sub, or mitigate dmg through snarl as much



it just seems that the pet jobs are much more dependant on a larger number of timers than other jobs.

drg would be exempt from this, as the wyvern behaves based on actions the drg takes. I.E.: drg casts a spell and the wyvern uses the ability at the same time, no having to hit a macro JUST to cause the wyvern to act.



the bst and war issue goes the same with pup and smn. a pup wont be able to put up as many maneuvers, limiting what his puppet does more so than just if the puppet were swinging its weapon slower.

with smn, fewer bloodpacts and longer casting times for summons can pretty much take us out of the fight as they can take a while to go off as is.



anyway, thats my 0.02

Our avatar summoning take about 10 seconds (less but I like round numbers). And SE thought it could be a problem if we got slowed.

Interestingly enough we still have spirits, but I guess the day SE added resist slow was the day SE forgot Spirits existed. (Confusingly enough Thunder spirit was added in 2004, resist slow has been around since early 2003)

Maybe it doesn't have a practical use and SE added it just 'cuz. It's like all of those crappy pieces of equipment that get added, and people can't believe that they suck so they assume there's a hidden effect.

A combined total of 40 mp over 4 traits? MNK gets 180HP over their four traits.... 30+30+60+60!
