Hello Everyone, well i read 2 threads about FFXI running on netbooks but they seem to be a bit old, one from '08 and the other '10(well not to old i guess ^^;), i thinking of getting a netbook but i was wondering if it can run FFXI, i plan on mostly just doing soloing and farming and maybe mission with a normal size PT setups but nothing big as abyssea or dynamis Etc. etc. now has anyone had any expirience with most current mini netbooks outthere right now? and if so how the game handles and also what should i look for?

here the netbook i want so far.
acer aspire one
AOD257-13685

intel Atom dual-core @1.66gHz/512KB L2 cache/ 667Mhz FSB
1GB DDR3 Ram(i plan to upgrade it to 2GB max)
Intel GMA 3150
does this Intel GPU run FFXI for simple stuff on FFXI?
or what other Good mini net book you guys would recommend?
anyways thanks in advance
any info is highly appreciated

This one is known confirmed to run FFXI on an Intel GMA 950 shared video card. Anything meeting that specification or higher should work. Appologoes for the german link, the specs are reasable regardless though I believe

Ggma3150 should be a major horsepower step up over the 950 chip. As long as it has hardware texture and lighting, which most of the newer intel ones do, it should work. That doesn't necessarily mean any other really graphics intensive games will work at all though.

It "should" work, but there is always the chance driver wierdness will make it not work on those lower horsepower platforms.

thanks for the info, yeah i been browsing on other webpages, i think that GMA 3150 does have T&L , my problem now is which mini book to get or just get a normal laptop, there's this laptop(normal size) that has a AMD C-50 dual core Processor and a Radeon HD 6250 GPU (i think that is the GPU model) i think that GPU is good for FFXI right? i mean it should be strong enough for that game, but I'm not to sure of that CPU, is it like a water down Ver. of an Athlon II Core? i mean is it strong enough for FFXI?
