Long story short, Data Execution Prevention program on Windows Vista cancels and closes WoW everytime I try to update it. After searching in Google for days and checking everything the Blizzard tecknical support forum has, so far this hasnt worked:
Disabling DEP: Cant disable it at all.
Trying to patch up in Safe Mode: DEP still closes WoW.
Adding WoW to the list of items DEP wont scan and allow: It wont accept any WoW item as a .exe and wont allow it to be an exeption.
Reinstalling Windows Vista: I went as far as reformating HDD, this didnt helped.
Installing every update on Windows: Blue post suggested I patched and installed all updates possible, this didnt helped.
Disabling DEP on Boot.ini: In Vista the boot.ini file has been replaced with Boot Configuration Data (BCD). No idea how to mess with that, dont know where it is.
Disk install: My brother suggested installing from disk. Doesnt make a difference. I tried a trial disk, a WoW disk, a WotLK disk, direct download from battle.net, all the same.
Anyone has any other ideas? Thanks in advance.
