I'm looking for an internal fan for an ASUS G71GX-RX05. Unfortunately ASUS doesn't have a part number listed for it and suggested sending it in. Being that shipping alone will probably run me near $100, and it's out of warranty, that is an absolute last choice.

Newegg and TigerDirect didn't have anything, but I could have missed it. Anyone know of a good website for laptop parts?

Damn. I pride myself on being able to dig up obscure parts from the bowels of the Internet, but I got nothing.

How old is the laptop? How long of a warranty did you get? Just curious.

If I were you, I'd remove the fan, and look for similar ones you can modify to fit.

The laptop was released in June or July of '09, which is when I bought it. Only a 1 year warranty.

I'm fairly good at tracking down what I need as well and haven't had any luck. I'm just getting pissed at this point because a $1200+ laptop is crippled by a $20 fan.

I have removed it, but the housing is custom for mounting ***** placement and the heat pipes coming off the GPU. The motor housing is also sealed or I would just take it apart and replace/rebuild it.
