Unable to fun PoL & FFXI Help PleaseFollow

Hello, I am hoping someone will be able to assist me.

I have seen that other people have been able to get FFXI to run on the 64 bit W7, but I for the life of me have been unable to get it to work. Square Enix will not assist as they claim they do not support the 64bit system... /sigh.

I am unable to open Playonline, Windows come up stating the program has encountered and error and must shut down. My system then freezes and I must log off to regain control of my PC. I have tried the one off my original discs and the "vista/Windows 7" version off FFXI's website. Neither have worked.

I have tried running as administrator & in the compatibility mode options given right clicking on properties.

I have downloaded all the updates to Windows and I believe I have updated my Video card as well.

My system is:

Alienware Aurora
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
6GB Triple Channel 1333Mhz DDR3
Intel Core i7 930 QC 2.8 GB GDDR5
Dual ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5

yup, good call. Follow this proceedure if you haven't already:
1. Disable UAC under control panel:user accounts
2. Right click on your FFXI launch icon and select "run as administrator"
3. If it still doesn't work, right click on it again and set compatability mode to XP SP3 in the properties and then try running as administrator again.
