Questions on running FFXIVFollow

#1 Sep 24 2010 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent
I'm loving the game so far but right now the game is just borderline playable for me. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve performance, or if I could expect better optimizations and what not from SE in the future.

Asus G50vt
Vista 64
Intel core 2 duo P7450 normally 2.13 GHz, slightly overclocked so probably at 2.3ish
4 gig DDR2
GeForce 9800M GS 512mb

I know this computer is a bit sketch for running ffxiv but it's what I got. It ran the benchmark at 1665 on low.
I'm fairly certain both the graphics card drivers and directx are up to date.

For graphics settings I have everything on lowest or off, except for player shadows (don't think this one makes a difference and I like my shadow).

With this computer should I be playing in fullscreen native resolution (1336x768), 1280x720, or 1024x768?
I'm assuming I don't want to use windowed as I understand that is a larger strain on the system. (?)
Should I consider trying (1336x768) with the buffer set to 3/4 window?

The main problems I'm having:
- when panning the camera around it's not smooth, it jerks around (this is my largest problem)
- lag in fights, half the time my animations don't finish before I start a new attack
- UI lag, it takes a long time for menus and choices to pop up (I heard this was a problem in beta)

I'm wondering if I could expect better performance in time as SE works on the game more (optimizations?) or if all these problems are simply due to my computer.

Also is there any easy way to tell your fps in-game? And what do the 2 numbers relating to your connection in the ui mean?

I know this is a lot of questions and what-not to read so thanks in advance to anyone who took the time.
