I plan to buy a few things for my new laptop in the next week or so, but I'm having trouble picking out the exact items. I want to get an external hard drive (1TB+), wireless antenna (to get the most out of the ****** internet signal I'm forced to deal with), and a laptop cooler.
If anyone has any thoughts on this subject, it would be much appreciated. TIA

I have nothing to contribute to your qeustion, but since Scuzzyballs brought it up, I need to ask a general question.
What is it about FFXI that makes people think adding xx's all around their name is a good idea? I've played the game and never saw what sparked that and I haven't really seen it done with a y frequency by anyone but FFXI players.

*Note the actual macro one would use is in fact more ***** shaped...but same principle..the more X's the bigger their ***** is compared to other people who need X's to show off how big their ***** is. Duh.

Which type of crossover cable should I get? Apparently there are different types, go figure. And any recommendations on the 3 items I asked about?
Now to address the xxxxxxxx's. My own personal reason is because I got pissed off while trying to pick a name, that I went with the age-old x-sandwich, and was able to get my account rolling. In retrospect, it was a newbie move, but they've grown on me, so I just never bothered with a name change. As an added bonus, everytime I make a new post, an entertaining derail is soon to follow.

You don't need a crossover cable. They are just messing with you.
I thought it might have been for the HD, but I guess I was a little naive. Thanks for the wake up call.
Basic suggestions would be:
External Hard drive wise the cheapest one with e-sata and a decent warranty (Assuming your laptop has e-sata if not it's probly still worth the extra money in case you upgrade to something that does in the future). Search the brand and model before actually buying it to make sure they don't have a tendency to crap out in a relatively short period of time.
Wireless antenna- Don't waste your money unless you are constantly getting less than two bars of reception. Chances are this is only a problem on public (ie. School) or work networks. It's still gonna slower than molasses in winter whether or not you buy one. If your at home a better investment would be a CAT5 patch cable and a few wall face plates to run to your router from your PC.
Note book cooler- I personally like coolermaster products but look at you laptop see where the hotspots are for temperature, typically right below your CPU and GPU find something with fans that will blow air onto or past these spots. Something like this is pretty decent. If it doesn't have fans to blow air it's just a glorified chunk of plastic/metal and don't even bother with it.

Thank you for those tips/suggestions, Mano. I've been looking at a 1TB from Cavalry w/ eSATA. Seems to get good marks, from what I've seen. Apparently it has WD internals, which is brought up in a bunch of the reviews I've read. Just got reduced to $93 too, which is another little bonus.
The cooler that you linked looks like it'll work pretty good for me. I literally looked at hundreds and most of them were glorified pieces of junk.
As far as the antenna goes, I'll just hold off on that. The wi-fi here in Iraq sucks, but they recently did some work on the network and I very rarely get under 4 bars now.
Now to just get my damn overseas address accepted by this order page.
