PS2 Slim Repair GuideFollow

So my PS2 crapped out. :( And I don't feel like buying a new one, but still played those games fairly often (had just planned on replaying FFXII, and was just about to kill Sin in FFX).

It will play CD-based games (PS1), just not DvDs. I fixed my old one once--the big blocky one with the slide-out tray. It had a little white ***** which you'd rotate to change the lense distance (and you had to find the sweet-spot so it would play each type of disc).

I opened the Slim, but couldn't find any kind of ***** that seemed to do the same thing. Is there any way to do this yourself? Or some similar way of repair, since the unit still works for certain games (which makes me assume it isn't just shot).

Does anyone know of a guide (or even just a picture) that will show me where/what this ***** is? Or does it just not exist?

It doesn't exist on the slim. The slim uses basically a standard laptop DVD drive with a fixed lense mount.

Damn, thanks Kao.

Maybe I'll just buy a new laser then. :/
