I've noticed that even sitting around doing nothing (just a couple forum pages open) my firefox program will start to hog resources, up to 400MB of RAM easily. If I watch movies or anything that has a lot of media, even when finished, I can push 800-900MB after a little while.
Anyone have a similar problem?

Yeah, I noticed that too with my PC; nothing you can do till they fix the bug. If you don't have FreeRam XP Pro I suggest you get it in case it gets worse.

Reduce RAM usage to 10MB when Firefox is minimized:
This little hack will drop Firefox’s RAM usage down to 10 Mb when minimized:
1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter.
2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3. In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimizeâ€. Press Enter.
4. Now select True and then press Enter.
5. Restart Firefox.
Reduce the amount of RAM Firefox uses for its cache feature
1. Type “about:config†(no quotes) in the adress bar in the browser.
2. Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewerâ€
3. Set it’s value to “0“;(Zero)

The "10MB ram while minimized" is slightly broken.
Sure, it sets it to 10MB when you minimize, initially, but then it will slowly start to climb, and then jump up a bit more. 50-60MB after a few seconds.

60MB is still better then the 600MB mine had a choke hold on.

Mine is sitting at about 80MB right now. I had thought it had more to do with the W7RC, but if other people are having the issue too I guess it's FF.
To be fair, I have seen IE climb up there in RAM usage as well, but never in the hundreds of MB.

Yeah its...flawed. However, the new 3.6 alpha is very nice. A lot of addons dont work with it yet, as well as some java sites (it IS in alpha stage after all).
You might want to give it a try though.

In fact, I've had several problems with firefox lately. Pages getting bogged down, plugins lagging/failing, right mouse button being "stuck" down.
Frustrating.

I don't know about the first couple of problems, but the last one seems to me to be caused not by Firefox but what you watch on it.

Huh.. maybe that has something to do with it.
Recently, as in the last month or so, Firefox has been just randomly crashing, at which point if I boot it up again, it will crash more. I was just system restoring each time it happened (maybe like once a week) and it seemed to fix it for a while. Maybe it's totally unrelated, but I just checked its ram and it was at 400MB, and I only have a gig in this computer.
