So, I'm pretty sure my PC is dying. There's specks of color all over my monitor as you can see here: http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww212/black360ninja/Untitled-1.jpg

It's running really slowly when opening programs, and monitor goes blank several times when opening them. And, it has been freezing up a lot lately too. I ran virus scan software, but nothing was really found. And scrolling down webpages/documents is really slow as well.

So, anyone have any ideas what's wrong with my PC? Is it maybe the video card, RAM, or something else possibly broken? If i'm able to fix it any way, I'd really like to know since I really can't afford a new computer anytime soon.

I'm no expert but that sounds a lot like a video card issue. Are you overclocking it or trying to feed it mashed potatoes?

no, I run my PC like normal. It's about 3~4 years old, so I think it's just that it has gotten a lot of use. The problems with the specks of color started when I installed a copy of Soliworks, which makes me think it's virus related maybe, but like i said, nothing turned up.

Hello,

It sounds like the program you installed messed with your video card drivers. 1st thing I'd recommend to try would be a rollback of the video drivers. If that doesn't work try updating your video drivers to their newest versions.

As for your PC's general health, I'd recommend you get yourself a copy of TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, or both preferably. Each of these programs help clean up your PC quickly and nicely. I have both and use them to find things the other may have missed.

Here is the download.com address for TuneUp Utilities 2009:

Here is the download.com address for CCleaner:

A quick note, remember to restart the program after it cleans your system for you, there may be more errors found after it removes the 1st batch.

Also, the TuneUp utilities automated scan is defaulted to start on Fridays at 5:15PM if I remember correctly. So you may want to change that depending on your PC habits.

Good luck with fixing your PC.
